Dear Parents,Greetings from The Gaudium! As winter has mellowed down steadily into spring, so have our geckos started gearing up for their upcoming progression tests this month. Revisions were conducted over the weeks in various forms varying from mock tests and questionnaire to debates and quiz, to make sure that the students not only recall the concepts they learnt earlier but are able to apply the same in various contexts. It was a fruitful and fun filled month. We are happy to share the highlights with you.

1. Grade 10 IGCSE are undergoing their Board examinations.

2. Geckos participated in Aga Khan Academy MUN and few got recognized by the committee for their contribution.

3. Grade 6-8 geckos were oriented on the Cambridge progression test.

4. Class photographs for all the grades were taken.5. Grade 9 and 10 geckos were part of the College fair

which was conducted on the campus.6. Term 2 examination for Lower Secondary has started

from 27th February 2020.

ACTIVITY : Mosaic mural project in school campusMurals are not a passive form of art. Murals are primarily made for public interaction and communication. This month geckos started creating a huge mural on the wall of preprimary block that are actively changing the space. They were engaged in an opportunity to communicate with their peers about the imagery important to them. There is no other authentic, relevant project in art education for students than creating a mural together. Through the murals on school walls they will send the message of importance of Art. Geckos are not only enjoying the visual power and beauty that changes the school walls, but they are also analyzing the symbolism and message being promoted by their peers. LEARNING Objective• Geckos develop the technical skills and the ability to

organize the visual elements necessary to communicate concepts and experiences .

• Geckos will demonstrate behaviors, such as curiosity, initiative, and persistence, that will help them engage with the world in productive ways. Students will be able to work collaboratively to achieve stated goals.

Computer Science vs ICT in IGCSECambridge IGCSE Computer Science learners study the principles and practices of computing and gain confidence in computational thinking and programming. They learn to program by writing computer code and develop their understanding of the main principles of problem-solving using computers. Learners apply their understanding to develop computer-based solutions to problems using algorithms and a high-level programming language. They also develop a range of technical skills, as well as the ability to test effectively and to evaluate computing solutions. This qualification helps learners appreciate current and emerging computing technologies and the benefits of their use. They learn to recognize the ethical issues and potential risks when using computers. Learners also learn connecting to database. Learners who are opting for Computer science in IGCSE should have interest in computational, analytical and programming skills. They should be ready to take up the challenges to solve the problems and frame algorithms/ pseudocodes as a solution. Also interested in knowing the internal working of the hardware using logic gates. Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science is an ideal foundation for further studies in Computer Science. Understanding the principles of Computer Science provides learners with the underpinning knowledge required for many other subjects in science and engineering, and the skills learnt can also be used in everyday life. If geckos opt for Computer science, the following are the future prospects:

1. Eligible to take computer science in IGCSE AS/O level

2. Strong foundation developed to opt for Computer Science HL/SL at IBDP.

3. In the graduation they can select any one of these streams: a. Computer science engineering.b. Computer application, c. Industrial Mathematics and Computer Science, d. Statistics and Computer Applications,e. Applied Computer Science, f. Animation and Graphics,g. Digital Design in film and Television,h. Game developer,i. Computer aided fashion designing,j. Biotechnology, k. Computerized Financial Accounting and many

more in India and abroad as well.Whereas ICT limits the analytical and computational skills, here only focus is on the application of technology in the society, working in spreadsheet, document, presentation, basic database and static website creation. Resources: Cambridge IGCSE Syllabus
