TEMPLETON - STATE CHAMPIONS!
TENNIS: State Champions VOLLEYBALL: State Runners Up
This on top of our two Aerobics teams finishing first and second in Australia!
Together with 19 District and Regional Sporting premierships! (13 Runner Up Flags as well!)
What a year 2019 has been. Mr Crilly wrote an article earlier this year about Templeton already being an
academic powerhouse and now we are a sporting powerhouse. How true were his words!
At our final assembly Ms Potter will be outlining all our sporting achievements this year. 2019 has been
our most successful year to date and we congratulate all our students and coaches who have put in
hours of additional work to enable this to happen.
STAFFING UPDATE
I am delighted to announce that Ms Pav Sidhu and Mr Hugh Morton will be joining us at Templeton for
the 2020 school year after both have worked extensively for us as Casual Relief Teachers (CRT’s) for a
number of years.
Mr Morton worked in Grade 4 as a teacher aide for a number of years at Templeton before completing
his teaching degree, whilst Ms Sidhu is well known to our students having worked as a CRT for a number
of years across all areas of the school.
We are excited by what these two teachers will bring to our school in 2020 and I trust you will join with
me in welcoming them to Templeton.
Principal
SCHOOL COUNCIL – THANK YOU
Our final School Council meeting for 2019 will be held next Monday evening at 5pm. I would like to
express my sincere thanks to our School Council members for their commitment to our school.
The time and effort dedicated to this role often goes unrecognised and whilst rewarding, can also be
challenging. At Templeton, we are fortunate to have an outstanding group of people led superbly by
our School Council President Mr Ben Morris.
Each of our councillors has performed a very important role to support our school purpose and in doing
so has made an extremely valuable contribution to the educational outcomes of each of our students.
The broad scope of work by School Council this year has included:
communicating the broad direction and vision of the school within our community
approving the annual budget and monitoring expenditure
acquiring feedback from the school community to inform decision making
developing, reviewing and updating school policies
overseeing the maintenance of the school’s grounds and facilities
creating interest in our school in the wider community
enhancing communication within our school community
working through policies and ensuring we are strictly adhering to its principles
Thank you to our 2019 School Councillors:
Kaspar Sussman, Joshua Ooi, Ian Veitch, Marc Crilly, Aidan Schanssema, Craig Vernon Anand Thaker,
Daniel Trettel, Benjamin Morris, Tania Cek, Andrea Edwards, Tony Callinan, Pradeep Tondapu, Amelia
Taylor
Looking forward to 2020, maybe membership of the School Council is a role that you would like to take
on? Watch out early next year as the election process begins.
COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS: END OF TERM REMINDERS!
PROMOTION PARADE: Tuesday 17th December
For those families new to Templeton, Promotion Parade is a transition day when children learn of their
new placement for the next year. They spend the day with their new teacher and classmates which
helps reduce anxiety over the holiday period. It is an exciting day that teachers and children alike enjoy.
FINAL ASSEMBLY
The final assembly for the year will be held on Friday 20st December commencing at 12.45pm.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: 1.30pm FINISH
Please mark on your calendars that we will be finishing at 1.30pm on the last day of Term 4, Friday 20
December. Camp Australia will be operating After School Care from this time.
LATE RETURN TO SCHOOL IN 2020
If you will still be on holiday when school commences in 2020 would you please write a letter to this
effect and send it to the office for our records. Thank you.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Sizzling Starts
As part of our writing groups I have been working with some Grade 5 students on writing introductions to their recounts that
grab the readers’ attention. I am sure you will agree that these Sizzling Starts make you want to read more!
Food For Families
This year we are again supporting the Uniting Food for Fami-
lies annual appeal. All classrooms will be given a large box and
until December 13th we are collecting non-perishable items
like tinned foods and toiletry items. Anything that needs refrig-
eration is not appropriate. The collected items will go towards
families who are struggling to make ends meet. Last year we
filled 40 boxes and helped to feed many families over a year.
This year we hope to make an even bigger contribution to the
appeal. So check those pantries or perhaps buy an extra item
or two in your family’s next grocery shop!
Thanks from the Student Council
