  • CLASSROOM VISITS—PREPS FIRST ASSEMBLY

This morning we welcomed the newest members of our

community to their very first assembly. The Preps were

listening beautifully before rain interrupted us!

    BLOGS ARE READY!

    https://templetonps.vic.edu.au/communication/#blogs

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, staff have been working on their grade level blogs and I am pleased to

say that they have reached a stage where they are now ready to be viewed by parents.

Communication with parents has been a focus of ours over the last couple of years. With the

introduction of Xuno and now with the Blogs, we have listened to the needs of our parent community

and we have put together a suite of initiatives that will meet your needs.

Blogs will continually be updated throughout each term with new information and parents will be

reminded via the Newsletter and Xuno to log into their child/ren’s grade level blog on a regular basis.

Curriculum outlines, excursions, notices, expectations and a multitude of other relevant information is

now ready for you to view. Simply log on to our website, go to the communication tab at the top of the

page and click on Blogs which will take you to the grade level you are after – or simply click on the link

    above!

Speaking of our website, I take this opportunity to commend Mr Crilly on the outstanding work he does

on our Website. Without question, our website leads the way in content, presentation and organisation

and I encourage you to take the time to browse through our site if you haven’t done so recently.

  • XUNO APP: MESSAGES TO TEACHERS

As Mr Crilly mentioned on Xuno last Wednesday, it is wonderful to see so many parents using the new

app to communicate with our school. However, with any new system, sometimes we can go overboard

initially. Although our teachers want to communicate effectively with our parents, some parents have

been sending in far too many messages and inundating some teachers with well-intentioned, but time

consuming messages. These are taking up too much of our teacher’s time and taking them away from

other, more student directed tasks. I know, like me, you would prefer your child’s class teacher focussed

on the students and their work.

The purpose of the App is to relay absences and inform the class teacher of critical issues regarding their

child. Seeking a time to meet with the class teacher is also within these guidelines.

Please be aware that messages need to be short, succinct and respectful at all times. Teachers will

continue to monitor messages between the hours of 8am and 4.00pm, however, we want our teachers

focussed on our students and not on their phones continually reading messages from parents. We simply

ask that you are mindful of the messages you are sending and that they are within the guidelines

    outlined above.

FUNDRAISING 2020: REFURBISHMENT OF STUDENT TOILETS

We have a number of fundraising events planned for 2020, the first of which will be our annual

Chocolate Drive coming up next week.

I’m very pleased to announce that the focus of our fundraising for 2020 will be directed towards the

refurbishment of our student toilets. Every student in our school will benefit from our efforts this year so

I encourage all our families to get behind and support our fundraising events in 2020.

If you are in a position to offer additional support in the way of a tax deductable donation to our Building

Fund, please contact our Business Manager, Pam Raines in the office for details. See below for a taste of

    what is to come …..

  • BEFORE SCHOOL SUPERVISION

I take this opportunity to express concerns of our teachers that there are a number of students arriving at

school very early and left unattended. It is important for parents to be aware that there is no supervision

of the playgrounds before 8:45am. It is not safe for students to be left unattended whilst parents go off

to work. Before School Care commences at 6.45am each morning where your children are looked after

    safely.

The school takes no responsibility for incidents that occur prior to 8.45am.

The after-school process is that all children should meet their parents at the agreed locations. At 3.45pm,

any children who have not been collected will be brought into the office foyer by the teacher on duty. If

students have still not been collected by 4pm they will be taken to After-School Care. Parents need to

register at Camp Australia to ensure your child can be supervised at this time.

Last week we had a little girl left outside on Crestdale Road at 8.00am in the morning wondering around

by herself. I wouldn’t want to be the person who left her there unattended if something had happened to

her! Older siblings are not responsible for younger siblings.

The safety of our students is paramount to me and it scares me when parents put our students in

    potentially dangerous situations.

    STUDENT TOILETS & CHILD SAFETY

In recent times I have become aware that parents and other adults sometimes use our student toilets

either during the day or at drop off or collection times. For obvious reasons this cannot happen. It is

critical that our students feel safe to use our toilets and it is inappropriate for adults to be entering them

at any time of the day.

If adults need to use the toilets please use the accessible toilet next to the staff toilets in the photocopy

hallway. Please ask at the office for directions if you get lost.

  • Attention all Templeton Families – with your support we

can build exciting new student toilet facilities in 2020

Templeton’s annual chocolate fundraiser commences on Monday March 3rd. One box of

delicious Cadbury chocolates will be sent home with the eldest student in each family. If

we all sell our 60 chocolates we will raise valuable funds to support our school building

plans. Please make your best effort to sell all chocolates as every dollar raised is one small

step closer to reaching our goals.

All money or unsold chocolates must be returned to school by Friday March 27th

(the last day of Term One).

This year all fundraising money will be directed towards the total renovation and

replacement of the student toilets. This is an exciting but very expensive undertaking that

will ensure our toilet facilities for all students are new and modern.

Your support in raising funds towards this building program would be gratefully

    appreciated.

Mrs Andrea Edwards and Mrs Pamela Raines
