Working with...Cadeby Tree TrustBusiness: Christmas tree distribution

Employees: 10

Fleet Size: 2-25

Cadeby Tree Trust has been growing, supplying and maintaining

Christmas trees for over 20 years. It is a seasonal business which sees the

selling of their trees between October and December each year. Cadeby

operates between 2 and 25 vehicles ranging from pick-ups to HGVs and

have a wide variety of vehicle requirements including the length of hire

and vehicle type.

Cadeby looked into the acquisition methods which were available to them and considered the following two:

• Purchase – in the past they had owned their vehicles but found this impractical and it could not meet their requirement for flexibility to suit their busy periods

• Flexible hire – due to the seasonal nature of the business, Cadeby needed an acquisition method which was flexible enough for them to be able to manage the utilisation and variety of their fleet, helping them to add, reduce and change their fleet size and type when required.

Working closely with Northgate, the business has identified numerous benefits from the partnership:

• When comparing methods and companies, there were several key factors which Cadeby considered; service, price, fleet size, fleet variety and location. They found Northgate met a large number of these requirements • Not only has Northgate provided Cadeby with flexibility, they also provided the company with a good standard of service

• By choosing Northgate over purchasing a fleet of vehicles, Cadeby consider a saving in the region of £50,000 per annum has been made as a direct result of no longer running an under- utilised and ageing fleet.
