    Khi mu c chiu x bi 2 chm laser nng lng cao vi tn s 1 v 2 (1 > 2) theo mtphng cng tuyn (hnh 1.4), hai chm tng tc vi nhau mt cch kt hp to nh sng tn x mnhti tn s 21 2. Nu 2 c iu chnh n mt iu kin cng hng: 2 = 1 m vi m l mt tns ca mode hot ng Raman ca mu, sau mt nh sng c cng mnh ti tn s 21 2 =21 (1 m) = 1 + m c pht x (hnh 1.4).
