SMSE Templates

Job templates, created with the group name SMSE, are added to the CA Workload Automation AE database when CA WA AE Advanced Integration for SAP Solution Manager is installed. One job type template is provided for each SAP, Command, FTP, and SCP job type. You can use a template in SAP Solution Manager to schedule jobs. You can modify these job templates as needed to fit your job requirements and then use these templates to define new jobs in SAP.

Important! Only those job templates that are defined with a group name of SMSE and whose job name corresponds exactly to a CA Workload Automation AE job type can be created or maintained using SAP Solution Manager. This lets you restrict the job types that can be administered from SAP Solution Manager. For example, the SAP R/3 template job must be named SAP to match the CA Workload Automation AE job type. Similarly, name the template job for CA Workload Automation AE command jobs as CMD. Defining the SAP and CMD jobs lets you create those job types using SAP Solution Manager.

Notes:

■ You can add additional job templates per job type with SMSE as the group name.

■ Do not define job templates with date_conditions enabled or with other conditions that may cause the jobs to run automatically

Scheduling Limitations

58 Product Guide

Scheduling Limitations

When you schedule a CA Workload Automation AE job using SAP Solution Manager, the following limitations apply:

■ If you define a job using CA Workload Automation AE starting conditions, the SAP Solution Manager starting conditions are ignored.

– To use SAP Solution Manager starting conditions, ensure that you perform the following tasks:

■ Select any of the following starting conditions in the Start Conditions section on the Scheduling page: Immediately, Once, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Annually, and Date. SAP Solution Manager creates an internal calendar for the job if you select Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Annually, or Date condition. For example, selecting Once generates a calendar that schedules a job to run one-time only. The calendar is created based on the date and time you enter in the corresponding fields.

■ Click the Primary tab and clear the Condition field.

■ Click the Schedule tab and clear the following date and time entries: Must complete times, Must start times, Minutes after each hour, Time zone, Run days, Exclude calendar, Use date/time conditions, Run window, Run calendar, and Times of day.

Note: The Extended start condition in SAP Solution Manager is not supported by CA Workload Automation AE.

– To use CA Workload Automation AE scheduling criteria or date conditions, click the Schedule tab and specify the corresponding date condition attributes. For example, on the Schedule tab, specify Use date/time conditions and enter the conditions in the following fields as appropriate: Must complete times, Minutes after each hour, Run days, Exclude calendar, Must start times, Run window, Run calendar, and Times of day.

■ When working with existing job definitions, if you click the Schedule/Change Externally button, the job definition is updated, but the SAP Solution Manager starting conditions are not used. A message indicating that the job is scheduled appears, although it updates the job definition. To use SAP Solution Manager starting conditions, click the Reschedule button after you click the Schedule/Change Externally button.

■ No End Date and Ended at lets you repeat the schedule for a specified number of times. For example, to schedule a job to run 10 times every two days, select Daily, then select the Repeat option and enter 2 in the Day(s) field. Next, select Ended at, and enter 10 in the Number of Repetitions field.

■ When you schedule a job using the hour, minutes, and seconds format (hh:mm:ss) in SAP Solution Manager, CA Workload Automation AE ignores the seconds when it schedules the job. This applies to all SAP start conditions, except Immediately.

Example: Schedule a job with starting conditions set to Once. Next, specify a Start Date and set the Start Time as 11:45:30. The job is scheduled to run at 11:45:00.

Scheduling Limitations

Chapter 4: Scheduling Considerations 59

■ When you schedule a job using SAP Solution Manager Start Condition date, the user timezone is ignored in SAP Solution Manager and the SAP system timezone is used. You can verify the system timezone on the Scheduling page in SAP Solution Manager.

■ The maximum job name character length in SAP Solution Manager is 40 characters. CA Workload Automation AE jobs with names longer than 40 characters can be retrieved. However, the following operations are not supported for jobs with names longer than 40 characters: Copy Job, Schedule/Change Externally, Release, Reschedule, Cancel Job, External Notes, and External Log.

■ In SAP Solution Manager, the error messages that are displayed on the Scheduling page are truncated.

■ When you schedule a job in SAP Solution Manager, the job ID is displayed in the External Job ID field instead of the Job Name and Job Number fields.

■ The Queue and Priority fields on the Scheduling page are input fields only. The queue and priority defined for the CA Workload Automation AE job are not retrieved in these fields.

■ When you run a Job Run Status query, the Scheduled start time column displays the actual job run time instead of the scheduled start time.

■ You cannot use the Job ID field (jobname:jobrun id) as a filter to retrieve the jobrun status information for jobs whose name is defined in lowercase. In the Job ID field, you must specify the job name in uppercase. If you enter the job name in lowercase, SAP Solution Manager automatically converts it to uppercase. If the job name is defined in lowercase, use the Job Definition field as a filter to retrieve the jobrun status information.

■ If you have a long list of machine names, and you know the name of the machine you are using, you can enter the name in the Queue field using the following format: GLOBAL.machine_name.

■ You cannot specify or modify the Spool list recipients parameter for a SAP Batch Input Session (SAPBDC) or SAP R/3 (Sap) job in SAP Solution Manager.

■ You cannot specify or modify the Info Package details parameter for a SAP BW InfoPackage (SAPBWIP) job in SAP Solution Manager.

■ The Scheduling page in SAP Solution Manager does not refresh consistently. When the Scheduling page is not refreshed, it displays the values from a previous transaction. To refresh the values, close and open the Scheduling page.

■ The Blob Input attribute is not supported for the Command job in SAP Solution Manager.

■ CA Workload Automation AE does not support the No Subsequent Jobs check box on the Import Jobs and Copy Jobs pages in SAP Solution Manager.

■ When searching for jobs on the Import Jobs page, specify concise search parameters to minimize the result set and optimize performance.

Chapter 5: Known Issues 61

Chapter 5: Known Issues

Importing or Searching Jobs

If CA Workload Automation AE is installed on an Oracle database, you can use SAP Solution Manager to import or search only those CA Workload Automation AE jobs that are defined with group jil attribute.

Note: If you encounter this problem (Pr#4203 - SDK FILTER QUERY ON ORACLE RESULT SET MAY BE INCOMPLETE), contact CA Technical Support at http://ca.com/support for the latest patch.

The Import Jobs page in SAP Solution Manager takes approximately 5 to 15 minutes to respond and display jobs if the CA Workload Automation AE server has more than 1000 jobs. The time it takes to display the jobs is dependent on the number of jobs and job runs on the CA Workload Automation AE server.
