Getting to know more about your friends

1. Have students rearrange the words into questions. (Question 2 can be adjusted using ‘study’ for ‘work’.)

2. Drill the questions.

3. Ask the students to move around to ask their friends and take notes on the answers. Give the students the handout and they write the answers on the blanks.

Conditions: 1. Ask as many friends as they can within 5 minutes.

1. Students complete activity 7 and check the answers.

2. To check students vocabulary and grammar they’ve learned, ask them to divide into 2 teams.

- Use the pictures on page 133.

- Put crosses on some of the activities.

- Show all the pictures to the students but one at a time.

- The two teams complete to describe the picture using the vocab and grammar of the unit.

- The team who give the correct answer get one point. Repeat until all the pictures are shown.

Remarks: Demonstrate with two pictures: one positive, the another negative.

5D Winners and Losers Page 46.

1. Divide students into groups of 4-5 by counting 1-11. The students have to remember their numbers.

2. Let each group write down the names of the staff in a piece of paper and hand in it to the teacher. In order to manage the time, tell the students that the first group who hand in the paper will get 2 extra marks and the last will get –s marks.

3. Show the power point or read the question and the choices one by one. The students will get a, b, c cards or use a book as choice a, pen for choice b, and a hand for choice c.

4. Don’t let them raise the answer until the teacher say “Go”.

5. Give the answer and the explanation.

6. Mark the points in the name list paper.

7. Continue to the end of questions.

Activity Unit 6C The News (Page 53)

Bingo Game

Instruction

1. The teacher explains the news on page 53 (Couple found at Sea and Dog Wins Lottery) focusing on reading skill – pronoun references.

2. Tell the students to play Bingo Game. Show the 16-grid table on the slide, then ask the students to copy it on a piece of paper.

Game 1: Couple Found at Sea

Sea x 1, storm x 1, radio x 1, Bill x 2, Nancy x 2, coast x 1, Bill and Nancy x 7, and helicopter x 1.

3. Let the students write down each word appearing on the slide in their grid randomly.

4. The teacher tells the students to write down the line number(1-10) on the first news (except the heading).

5. Start the game by telling the pronouns and the line once at a time. Let the students find the answer in the grid by crossing out the word. Don’t forget to tell the students to write down the number of the itemin the grid every time they choose the answer.

6. The questions the teacher asks should be as the following:

Activity: 1) Write down one positive and one negative resolution

2) Share your resolution with friends. Let them ask their friends.

3) Ask one student his/her resolution. Then get him/her to ask one of their friend. The
