B RAZIL South Americas largest country Speak Portuguese Many Native Americans One of their cities is home to more Japanese than any other place. E L GLOBO NO CAE AL SUELO 5-8 Players stand in a circle A balloon is thrown into the air and it has to be kept in the air but the players must also stay in the circle. If the balloon is dropped the player that last touched the balloon has to sit down but keep their spot in the circle. The game is over when only one person is left standing in the circle. F ARMING V.S. C ITIES FarmingCities -subsistence farming -Corn, beans, potatoes, and rice -Big farms grow crops to export out of the country -Export farming uses up so much land that they have to import food for themselves -Many buildings were built by the Spanish 400 years ago -There are also many modern buildings -A lot of slums -Hard for cities to keep up with all the poor migrants that move into the cities R OLE OF W OMEN Not Equal Women are usually poorer than men and they dont go to school as long so they cant find better jobs. They are trying to demand rights so they can make a living They want to go to school, have jobs, and have healthcare Many are trying to start their own business based on traditional skills A CTIVITY Day of the Dead Masks Commonly known as a Mexican celebration, Day of the Dead is also celebrated in many other Latin American countries. It involves the celebration of customs to remember and honor those who have passed away. One of the most well-known customs is the wearing of costumes and traditional skeleton masks, or calaca.
