Opening Hymn: Send Us Your Spirit

R. Come Lord Jesus, send us your Spirit, renew the face of the earth

Come Lord Jesus, send us your Spirit, renew the face of the earth.

1. Come to us, Spirit of God, breathe in us now, we sing together. Spirit

of hope and of light, fill our lives, come to us, Spirit of God. R.

2. Fill us with the fire of your love, burn in us now, bring us together.

Come to us, dwell in us, change our lives, O Lord, come to us, Spirit of

God. R.

3. Send us the wings of new birth, fill all the earth with the love you have

taught us. Let all creation now be shaken with love, come to us, Spirit of

God. R.

Gloria

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you

thanks for your great glory. Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty

Father. Lord Jesus Christ, only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God,

Son of the Father. You take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;

you take away the sins of the world receive our prayer; you are seated at

the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the

Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus

Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Profession of Faith

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty maker of heaven and earth,

and of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,

the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God

from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not

made, consubstantial with the Father; through Him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the

Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake

he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,

and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He

ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He

will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and His

kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the

giver of life who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the

Father and Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the

prophets. I believe in one, holy, Catholic and apostolic Church. I

confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the

resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Responsorial Psalm: O God, let all the nations praise you!

Communion Song: Song of the Body of Christ

R. We come to share our story, we come to break the bread, we come to

know our rising from the dead.

1. We come as your people, we come as your own, united with each

other, love finds a home. R.

2. We are called to heal the broken, to be hope for the poor, we are

called to feed the hungry at our door. R.

3. Bread of life and cup of promise, in this meal we all are one. In our

dying and our rising, may your kingdom come. R.

Sunday

Due to the Corona Virus there is no

obligation to attend Mass — we are doing

a 9 am daily Mass Monday thru Friday so

you have options to receive the Eucharist

other than at Sunday Mass. However, we

must still practice social distancing and

wear a mask.

Please support the businesses on the back of

the Bulletin. Their sponsorship allows us to

provide a weekly Bulletin to parishioners at

NO cost to the Parish. Tell them you saw

their ad in our Bulletin!

Did You Know … for

$250 you can honor a loved one by

providing hosts & wine for one

month at St. Columbkille Parish?

OR you can honor a loved one by

providing the candle in the

Sanctuary Lamp for one month at

a cost of $12? Oh, and you can

also schedule a Mass Intention for

just $5! What a GREAT way to

honor a loved one AND provide monetary

assistance to your parish!

Song of Sending Forth: O God Beyond All Praising

1. O God beyond all praising, we worship you today and sing the love

amazing that songs cannot repay; for we can only wonder at ev’ry gift you

send, at blessings without number and mercies without end: we lift our

hearts before you and wait upon your word, we honor and adore you,

Our great and mighty Lord.

2. Then hear, O gracious Savior, accept the love we bring, that we who

know your favor may serve you as our King; and whether our tomorrows

be filled with good or ill, we’ll triumph through our sorrows and rise to

bless you still: To marvel at your beauty and glory in your ways, and make

a joyful duty our sacrifice of praise.

Why can’t they see how wrong they are?” This is the question—

spoken or thought—at the root of much of the polarization into groups

in our society. It also is at the start of many lesser frictions within

families, friendships, and communities. And, there is nothing like a

pandemic with great economic impact and effect on those we are most

concerned about—our children and elderly—to seemingly heighten the

stakes!

The challenge is to stay engaged as the Holy Spirit works the truth

and God’s wisdom into view. Its more and more common to end

communication and justify doing so if you don’t see things as I do.

St. Paul this weekend in the 2nd reading (Rom 11:13-15, 29-32)

reflects on how the Jewish understanding of God’s Word to them

through the centuries gave them the clearest path to encountering God

in their lives. But when they rejected Jesus as God’s latest and final

“Word” about one’s relationship with God, the Gentile (non-Jewish)

nations that did accept Christ had the inside tract.

Still, St. Paul can see that God would not just wash His hands of His

Chosen People. God is forever faithful in desiring us all. In fact, just

as the Jews were a light to the Gentile nations, St. Paul points out God

is now using the non-Jewish Christians to reflect the truth of God’s

faithful and expansive love back to them, to draw all of God’s children

close.

I find this a helpful reminder to reverence as best I can the fabric of

all my relationships—those more intimate to those with complete

strangers. God has and does work through them. Sometimes I’m the

learner, sometimes I will be the guide. While the Gospel is always the

Way, Truth, and Life of Jesus, whether I have the best grasp on that in

this moment is less secure.

So let’s be respectful of God’s freedom, and one’s own human

tendency to mistake my well-being for the common good, or the

greatest good—and bring reverence, gentleness, and humility to keep

the conversations and relationships going even after decisions are

finally made. We are all teachers and learners. Most of all, we are all

the Lord’s. It is the work of disciples to make sure we all see that!

The Joy of Columbkille was a wonderful success

even in the midst of rain and the challenges it

brought. Fr. Dave and I want to thank the

dedicated leadership team—Karen Fleege, Kristi

Howes, Jen Porter, Dawn Oelke, Judy Wolf, and

Bruce Berstler for making it happen in a very

challenging year for anything “normal” to

happen! Thanks to The Moracco for another

great meal delivered perfectly in an imperfect

situation! We are grateful to all who prayed for

its success, and of course for all the sponsors and

financial supporters who are so faithful to our

parish. I invite you to check out Fr. David’s

video of the Sponsor signs on the drive up to

Bunker Hill Golf Course (who were most

accommodating hosts!) If you stop the video

every few signs you can read the sponsors clearly.

Please offer a little prayer of gratitude for them.

St. Columbkille—you made a lot of joy happen

last Sunday.
