•  It begins with a young foreign man who is left homeless on the London streets. On one particular day, he catches the eye of a

young businesswoman who is kind enough to give him a helping hand, and offer him something to eat. He accepts the

nice gesture from the Samaritan and they make their way through the market. From here she purchases some fruit for

him and a hot beverage as they begin to converse and build a friendship.

•  The main inspiration was the movie Pleasentville. This movie is about two siblings, Jennifer and David, and while Jennifer is the type of girl who lives life and tries new things and David is completely the opposite and lives his live in front of the TV watching Pleasentville a black and white sitcom of the 50’s and talks about the “perfect” Parker family. One day after a fight over the remote control, TV cannot be changed manually. The TV repairer after questioning David about the sitcom gives him a different control remote and, suddenly, Jennifer and David end up in the Parker family living room.

•  They realise they have to have a role in this sitcom and create their own roles. On this Ville, where everything is perfect, Jennifer and David are going to introduce people to a new world, new feeling therefore a new reality. What is going to happen is once the characters are in touched with this new reality they gain colour so through the movie the black and white is going to be swooped very slowly to a more colourful movie.

•  So this was the main concept to our story line, then, we decided to put a little of our personal story to it, and that was nationalities/race, the 5 of us are from different parts of the world so we wanted that to be showed!

•  Social documentary is our genre, due to the fact that we look at a specific social issue and look at ways to overcome and promote a positive message..

•  Our style would most likely be similar to journalism or editorial photography, due to the issues we look at.

GENRE & STYLE

•  Our pictures are mostly from a eye level view. This is because it enables those viewing it to feel more comfortable and less distracted by exaggerated effects. Overall in our shoot we used a variation of shots.

•  We used close ups to evoke emotion and truth. Wide shots gave a clear view of location and setting and long shots that depict the model in their full costumes which help to show their contrasts.

CAMERA ANGLES

•  We have chose bold italic in the colour blue because it reflects a serious subject but the colour reflects a calming effect which doesn’t intimidate the audience..

CHOICE OF FONT & FONT COLOUR

USE OF COLOUR

•  In our project, we attempted to tell the story through the colour. We added small pigments of colouring in certain points of the models from the beginning until the end shot which sees their hands clasped together in unity.

TECHNIQUE

•  The majority of photos are taken in a landscape fashion, in order to bring the entire location into view and give the audience a first hand perspective as if their watching the events happen before them.

•  Daniella: Ansel Adams research was quite influential for our project as he mastered in pictures that came with a black and white effect yet still being able to capture the importance and meaning (although it could be ambiguous).

•  Rita: Kevin Carter also influenced this work because he used a lot black and white to show pain and bring more darkness to the pictures. Similarly, we also use black and white to show a world without acceptance and tolerance.

•  Adolfo: Leila Shahrokhi was my influence. She was featured in the Guardian as one of the instagram photographers to watch. What I found interesting about her work, is that she focused outdoor landscapes. She was able to capture different colors depending on the time of day.

•  Approaches: We broke the stereotype of our characters as we did not portray the homeless person as expected.

•  Ideas: Race, Nationality

•  Themes: Market (Location), Unity, Acceptance, Race, Nationality

CONTENT & CONCEPTS

•  Young Adults would be our preferred target audience due to the fact that they’ll be able to understand the content better than those of a younger age.

•  Also, this age range is a vital part of society and by viewing this project we think we will allow them to see the world a different perspective in hopes to become a more positive and charitable

example in today’s world.

INTENDED AUDIENCE

What went well?

•  We were able to incorporate all our ideas in the project.

•  The fact there is a positive, social message behind the story of the photos.

•  We took the photos in a way that was clear and easy to follow/understand.

•  We managed to stick to the brief and work together well.

Even better if?

•  If we weren’t so limited in the number of pictures to use for the project, we could have included a lot more.

•  The male model was uncomfortable, while taking the photos as people were mistaking him for a homeless person. Next time, we may look at using consent forms to get other people involved.
