Keep these instruc-tions in a location which is easily accessible to every user and make these instructions available to every new owner of the device.

The additional instructions describe safety instructions and information for the use of the control units in a potentially explosive environment.

1.1 definition of terms / abbreviation
In these instructions, the term "device" always refers to the control units Type 8690, 8691, 8692, 8693, 8694, 8695, 8696 and 8798.
In these instructions, the abbreviation "Ex" always refers to "potentially explosive".

▶ The device is designed to be mounted on pneumatic actuators of process valves for the control of media. The device was designed for the use in: - type8690PX16 Explosion group II, category 2G Ex ia, T* and explosion group II, category 2D Ex ia, IP64, T135°C - type8690upto8696and8798PX03 Explosion group II, category 3G Ex nA, T4 and explosion group II, category 3D Ex tc, IP65/67, T135°C (see information listed on the sticker for the approval).
▶ The device is mounted onto a pneumatic actuator of a process valve. The process valve and the actuator must have at least the Ex approval of the control unit.
▶ During use observe the admissible data, the operating condi-tions and conditions of use specified in the contract documents, operating instructions and on the type label - of the control unit and - the process valve.
▶ Use the device only in conjunction with third-party devices and components recommended and authorized by Bürkert.
▶ Correct transportation, storage and installation, as well as care-ful use and maintenance are essential for reliable and faultless operation.
▶ Use the device only for its intended purpose.

▶ Remove electric circular plug only after the power supply has been disconnected.

▶ Installation, operation and maintenance may be performed by qualified technicians only.
▶ Observe the applicable safety regulations (also national safety regulations) as well as the general rules of technology for con-struction and operation.
▶ Do not repair the device yourself, but replace it with an equivalent device.
▶ Repairs may be performed by the manufacturer only. ▶ Do not expose the device to any mechanical and/or thermal loads which will exceed the limits described in the operating instructions.
▶ Use only cable and line entry points which have been approved for the respective application area and which have been screwed into place according to the associated installation instructions.
▶ The cable glands shall only be used for fixed installations.

▶ Close all unnecessary cable glands with lock screws approved for the explosions area.
▶ The required degree of protection (min. IP64) is only guaranteed in connection with suitable adaption sets. All pneumatic and electrical connections must be equipped with suitable connectors.
4.1 instructions on operation in an explosion-risk (Ex) area
4.1.1 Safety instructions
For operation in an explosion-risk area zone (gas) 1 and 2, the fol-lowing applies:

Procedure:
→ Mount screw, clirclip and fastening element.
→ Push locking wire through the bore of the transparent cap.
→ Push locking wire through fastening element and pull it tight.
→ Tighten screw on the fastening element and clamp locking wire.

→ Use a suitable cable shoe for grounding.

4.4 Explosion protection approval
The explosion protection approval is only valid if you use the modules and components authorized by Bürkert, as described in these oper-ating instructions.
The device Type 8697 may be used only in combination with the valve types released by Bürkert, otherwise the explosion protection approval will be terminated!
If you make unauthorized changes to the system, the modules or com-ponents, the explosion protection approval will also be void.

beinichtbestimmungsgemäßemeinsatzderjeweiligenAnsteuerungkönnenGefahrenfürPersonen,Anlageninderumgebungunddieumweltentstehen.
▶ Das Gerät ist für den Anbau an pneumatische Antriebe von Pro-zessventilen zur Steuerung und Regelung von Medien konzipiert. Das Gerät wurde für den Einsatz in: - typ8690PX16 Explosionsgruppe II, Kategorie 2G Ex ia, T* und Explosionsgruppe II, Kategorie 2D Ex ia, IP64 T135°C, - typ8690bis8696und8798PX03 Explosionsgruppe II, Kategorie 3G Ex nA, T4 und Explosionsgruppe II, Kategorie 3D Ex tc, IP65/67 T135°C konzipiert (siehe Angaben auf dem Klebeschild für Zulassung).
▶ Das Gerät wird auf einen pneumatischen Antrieb eines Prozess-ventils montiert. Dabei muss das Prozessventil und der Antrieb mindestens die Ex-Zulassung der Ansteuerung haben.
▶ Für den Einsatz die zulässigen Daten, Betriebs- und Einsatz-bedingungen beachten, die in den Vertragsdokumenten, der Bedienungsanleitung und auf dem Typschild - der Ansteuerungen und - des Prozessventils spezifiziert sind.
▶ Das Gerät nur in Verbindung mit von Bürkert empfohlenen bzw. zugelassenen Fremdgeräten und -komponenten einsetzen.
▶ Voraussetzungen für den sicheren und einwandfreien Betrieb sind sachgemäßer Transport, sachgemäße Lagerung und Installation sowie sorgfältige Bedienung und Instandhaltung.
▶ Gerät nur bestimmungsgemäß einsetzen.
3.1 Beschränkungen
Beachten Sie bei der Ausfuhr des Systems/Geräts gegebenenfalls bestehende Beschränkungen.
3.2 Kennzeichung (V-code) PXxx

▶ Gehäusemantel mit Edelstahlsichtfläche vor der Inbetriebnahme mit mitgeliefertem Befestigungslelement erden (Geräte mit Edelstahlsichtfläche).
▶ Durch geeignete Maßnahmen sicherstellen, dass es im Ex-Bereich zu keinen elektrostatischen Aufladungen kommen kann.
▶ Geräteoberfläche nur durch leichtes Abwischen mit einem feuch-ten oder antistatischen Tuch reinigen.

▶ Angaben zu Temperaturklasse, Umgebungstemperatur, Schutzart und Spannung auf dem Klebeschild für Zulassung beachten.
▶ Geräte nicht bei Gasen bzw. Stäuben einsetzen, die eine niedrigere Zündtemperatur besitzen als auf dem Klebeschild für Zulassung angegeben.
▶ Installation, Bedienung und Wartung darf nur qualifiziertes Fach-personal durchführen.
▶ Die geltenden Sicherheitsvorschriften (auch nationale Sicher-heitsvorschriften) sowie die allgemeinen Regeln der Technik, beim Errichten und Betreiben, einhalten.
▶ Gerät nicht selbst reparieren, sondern durch ein gleichwertiges Gerät ersetzen.
▶ Reparaturen darf nur der Hersteller durchführen. ▶ Das Gerät keinen mechanischen und/oder thermischen Bean-spruchungen aussetzen, welche die in der Bedienungsanleitung beschriebenen Grenzen überschreiten.

▶ Nur Kabel- und Leitungseinführungen verwenden, die für den jeweiligen Einsatzbereich zugelassen und entsprechend der dazugehörigen Montageanleitung verschraubt sind.
▶ Die Kabelverschraubungen dürfen nur zum Einführen fest verlegter Kabel und Leitungen verwendet werden.
▶ Alle nicht benötigten Kabelverschraubungen mit Ex-zugelassenen Verschlussschrauben verschließen.
▶ Die notwendige Schutzart (mind. IP64) ist nur in Verbindung mit passenden Adaptionssets / Anbausätzen gewährleistet. Alle pneu-matischen und elektrischen Anschlüsse müssen mit geeigneten Anschlusselementen versehen werden.
4.1 hinweise für den Einsatz im Ex-Bereich
4.1.1 Sicherheitshinweise
Bei Einsatz im Ex-Bereich Zone (Gas) 1 und 2 gilt:

Bei plötzlicher Entladung elektrostatisch aufgeladener Geräte oder Personen besteht im Ex-Bereich Explosionsgefahr.
▶ Durch geeignete Maßnahmen sicherstellen, dass es im Ex-Bereich zu keinen elektrostatischen Aufladungen kommen kann.
▶ Geräteoberfläche nur durch leichtes Abwischen mit einem feuch-ten oder antistatischen Tuch reinigen.
4.1.2 medien im Ex-Bereich
Werden explosionsfähige Medien verwendet, kann dadurch eine zusätzliche Explosionsgefahr auftreten.
4.1.3 Antriebe / Ventile im Ex-Bereich
Die Antriebe / Ventile können den Einsatz in explosionsfähiger Atmosphäre einschränken. Bedienungsanleitung der Antriebe / Ventile beachten.
4.1.4 reinigung im Ex-Bereich

l'utilisationnonconformedelaunitédecommandepeutprésenterdesdangerspourlespersonnes,lesinstallationsprochesetl'environnement.
▶ L'appareil est conçu pour être monté sur les actionneurs pneu-matiques des vannes process pour la commande de fluides. L'appareil a été conçu pour utilisation dans - type8690PX16 : le groupe d'explosion II, catégorie 2G Ex ia, T* et le groupe d'explosion II, catégorie 2D Ex ia, IP64, T135°C - type8690à8696et8798PX03 : le groupe d'explosion II, catégorie 3G Ex nA, T4 et le groupe d'explosion II, catégorie 3D Ex tc, IP65/67, T135°C (voir indications sur l'étiquette autocollante d'homologation).
▶ L'appareil se monte sur l'actionneur pneumatique d'une vanne process, la vanne process et l'actionneur devant posséder au moins l'homologation Ex de la unité de commande.
▶ Lors de l'utilisation, il convient de respecter les données et condi-tions d'utilisation et d'exploitation admissibles spécifiées dans les documents contractuels, le manuel et la plaque signalétique - de la unité de commande et - de la vanne process.
▶ L'appareil peut être utilisé uniquement en association avec les appareils et composants étrangers recommandés et homolo-gués par Bürkert.

▶ Faire effectuer l'installation, la commande et la maintenance uni-quement par du personnel qualifié.
▶ Respecter les consignes de sécurité en vigueur (également les consignes de sécurité nationales) ainsi que les règles générales de la technique lors de l'installation et du fonctionnement de l'appareil.
▶ Ne pas réparer l'appareil soi-même, mais le remplacer par un appareil équivalent.
▶ Faire réparer l'appareil uniquement par le fabricant. ▶ Ne pas exposer l'appareil à des contraintes mécaniques et/ou thermiques dépassant les limites stipulées dans le manuel.
▶ Utiliser uniquement des câbles et des presse-étoupes autorisés pour l'utilisation concernée et monter les câbles et presse-étoupes conformément au manuel de montage correspondant.

▶ Les presse-étoupes doivent être utilisés uniquement pour intro-duire des câbles et des conduites posés à demeure.
▶ Obturer tous les passe-câbles à vis non utilisés avec des bouchons filetés homologués Ex.
▶ Le degré de protection requis (au moins IP64) est garanti uni-quement en association avec les kits d'adaptation appropriés. Tous les raccords pneumatiques et électriques doivent être dotés d'éléments de raccordement appropriés.

En cas d'utilisation en zones Ex (gaz) 1 et 2, noter ce qui suit :

Les actionneurs / vannes peuvent limiter l'utilisation dans une atmosphère explosible. Respecter le manuel des actionneurs / vannes.

4.4 homologation Ex
L'homologation Ex n'est valable que si vous utilisez les modules et com-posants homologués par Bürkert tel que cela est décrit dans ce manuel.
L'appareil type 8697 doit être utilisé uniquement avec les types de vanne autorisés par Bürkert, sinon l'homologation Ex devient caduque !
L'homologation Ex devient également caduque si vous apportez des modifications non autorisées au système, aux modules ou aux composants.
