Question 11

I am constantly working with the two high school counselors and being mentored by them. They have both been

in this profession for many years and are more than willing to teach and mentor me when I need it. We have an instructional coach who works closely with us to mentor and guide us along the way. In addition,

my grade level has weekly meetings and many informal conversations throughout the days and weeks about

practices, strategies, plans, etc. Our staff is very team-oriented so I have felt mentored by many of them, not

just my own grade level team.

All of the teachers and administrators here have been excellent in providing mentor-like advice. It has been easy

to ask questions and discuss my experience with any professional in the building.

N/AI worked closely with my school's instructional coach to develop strategies to improve instruction. She would

teach model lessons in my room, watch me teach and give feedback, or take me on "walk-alongs" where we

would observe other teachers together. Additionally, I used my grade level teammates as informal mentors, and

went to them frequently for advice or support.

In addition to my mentoring teacher, I received mentoring from my administration and my school's instructional

coach through feedback and professional development suggestions.

I have worked closely with my grade level team to become familiar with school culture, handbook, and overall

flow of the day. We meet weekly for a PLC in which we discuss student achievement, issues throughout the

school, upcoming testing, and give advice to those in need, namely myself.

I have completed SIOP Training sessions throughout the year. I've been able to work closely with other members

of the English department and my evaluator, even though I was not given a designated mentor. I'm also enrolled

in a graduate program at Butler and have received mentoring from the University's faculty and staff.

#NAME?

I co-taught with an experienced teacher.

I worked closely with my department chair last year. She served as a mentor to me throughout my time at SHS,

helping me to grow and improve as a teacher.

I have attended almost all professional development opportunities offered to me while teaching in my current

position including, but not limited to, courses on the Reading Units of Study by L C , Kindergarten

Writers Workshop, Math Workshop with R and C F , and technology integration.

I have not only worked with the other music teachers in the district, but have also collaborated with other music

educators in Northwest Indiana, and worked closely with the Hebron Drama Director.

Weekly check-ins and frequent consultation.

Weekly planning with instructional coach during 2014-2015 school year. Weekly discussions with team including

Special Education teacher in order to best plan for all students.

In my second year, we began a teacher mentor program that I was apart of. I was lucky enough to have another

terrific teacher in which mentored and helped me in my first two years of teaching.

Our school district enrolled me in the Indiana New Administrator Leadership Institute (INALI), which paired me I received curricular support in the form of teaching materials from my mentor teacher. My mentor teacher also

helped me with ordering and purchasing equipment through the Science Department Budget. My mentor

teacher also helped me with discipline and classroom procedures both in general and specific to our schools

needs.

I am currently an administrator. Throughout the year, my principal and I have been meeting on a weekly basis to

provide feedback on my next steps for improvement. The feedback and next steps are often connected to the

RISE Rubric for administrators and the leadership rubric from Learning Forward.

Daily informal PLC meetings; Monthly formal PLC meetings

I am serving as an assistant principal. My principal acts as my mentor.

I met with the superintendent and other teachers new to the district four times a year. Additionally, I worked

closely with a few other experienced teachers who served as mentor teachers to me.

I have received mentoring from my principal, fellow K-1 teammates, other colleagues, and the literacy specialist

in our building. They have helped me with my classroom environment, behavior management, and academic

planning. I also work closely with Butler professors who support my teaching.

I also attended multiple workshops including school professional development and IAHPERD conferences in

order to further my knowledge and skill base.

My whole Kindergarten team served as individual mentors to me. They were always available to answer any

questions I had. I also observed them all teaching different subjects throughout the past 2 years.

I worked very closely with the director of guidance and she has worked tirelessly to train me and further my

growth as a school counselor. I have also maintained a relationship with my university professors who have

I did not receive formal mentoring, but I was able to work closely with my team to be mentored.

N/AI worked closely with my mentor teacher from student teaching that was in the same position within the school

district. She helped me with day to day planning and unit structure. I also worked closely with the IB

coordinator at my school that helped me on a daily basis to plan units that were standards based, engaging, and

global minded.
