Annexure No-1 Energy Scavenger Hunt1. Meet with your school’s Facilities Management staff and

Administrators to review Operational Strategies and discuss which strategies your school may wish to pursue.

2. Take a tour of your school’s mechanical room. Learn what type of heating and cooling system your school has.

3. Find out if your school is already having MOU agreement for becoming a partner.

4. Be on the look-out for ENERGY STAR® labels on appliances or equipment throughout your school. Document any ENERGY STAR®-rated equipment you find.

5. Look for leaky taps in bathrooms, kitchens, or classrooms and report to Facilities Management.

6. Research the different types of light bulbs, learn which ones are most energy-efficient, and find out what kind of lights are primarily used in your school.

approximately 1% per hour to power a computer that is left on when not in use. Use the following formulas to estimate how much money your school can save by shutting off all computers when not in use:

Greetings!Did you know that we are participating in an Project Name Challenge? This fun challenge has our school’s Green Team exploring different ways to save energy around our school!

Check out easy ways you can save energy too: Turn off the lights in areas that are unoccupied. Use partial lighting when using only a portion of the room. Raise blinds or shades during the day to allow in natural lights. Dress appropriately for the season and avoid re-adjusting the

thermostat. Close blinds or shades at the end of the day to reduce overnight air

temperature loss or gain. Keep doors to offices, conference rooms, and classrooms closed to

keep unconditioned hallways air from entering.

Shutdown computers, monitors, printers, copiers, and other office equipment's at night and on the weekends, unless network technicians specifically instruct otherwise. (One exception - servers)

Turn off computers monitors when leaving work areas or when your computers are not in use.

Turn off electronics and personals appliances when not in use, when leaving the room, or at the end of the day. Also unplug these items during extended periods of non-use.

Use water wisely. Turn off taps after using them and report leaks right away.

Use solar energy equipment's. Replace your task light bulb with a compact fluorescent. It will last 10

times longer and save 75%. Scratch the screensaver. As cute it may be, it wastes energy and interferes

with power management features. When you’re not using your monitor, turn it off or put it to sleep, instead.
