Chapter 1: How to Generate a Business ViewExcel Report in Microsoft ExcelThis task describes how to create Business View Excel reports in Microsoft Excel.

To learnmore about Business View Excel reports, see theHP Application Lifecycle Management UserGuide.

This task includes the following steps:

l "Install the HP ALM Business Views Microsoft Excel Add-in." belowl "Log in to ALM" belowl "Select business views" on the next pagel "Configure the Excel report" on the next pagel "Save the report" on the next page

1. Install the HP ALM Business Views Microsoft Excel Add-in.You can install the HP ALM Business Views Microsoft Excel add-in:l From the HP Application Lifecycle Management Add-ins page (Help > Add-ins).l From the Analysis module of ALM.

Note: If you do not install the HP ALM Business Views Microsoft Excel add-in from the Add-ins page, you are prompted to install the add-in when creating a business view excel report inthe Analysis module.

Installing via the Add-ins page allows you to install for only yourself or for all users on themachine. Installing from the Analysis module installs only for yourself.To install for all users, youmust have administrator permissions.

2. Log in to ALMLog in to ALM fromMicrosoft Excel.a. OpenMicrosoft Excel.

Note: In Microsoft Excel 2013, you can only open one Business View Excel report at atime.

b. Open the Login screen. In the HP ALM tab, click Login.c. Enter the login information. Select Standard Authentication orExternal Authentication.

i. ForStandard Authentication, enter the ALM server URL, Login Name, and Password,and click Authenticate.

ii. ForExternal Authentication, enter the web server URL and click ExternalAuthentication.

d. Select the project. Enter the Domain and Project, and click Login.

3. Select business viewsSelect the business views for which you want to create Excel reports. You can select multiplebusiness views. Each business view is displayed in a separate Excel worksheet.a. Open the Add Worksheet dialog box. In the HP ALM tab, click Add to add business view

Excel worksheets in the same Excel book, or click New Report to add business view Excelworksheets in a new Excel book. For user interface details, see theHP Application LifecycleManagement User Guide.

b. Select the business views. Select the business view and click OK. To select multiplebusiness views, use the SHIFT or CTRL keys. The new business view Excel worksheets areadded and theWorksheet Configuration pane becomes active.

4. Configure the Excel reportConfigure the report in Excel.a. Select the fields to be included in the report. In the Fields tab of theWorksheet

Configuration pane, select the fields to be removed from the report. To select multiple fields,use the SHIFT or CTRL keys. For user interface details, see "Worksheet Configuration Pane -Fields Tab" on page 11.

b. Filter the data to be included in the report. In the Filter tab of theWorksheet Configurationpane, select the fields to be filtered and enter the filter criteria. For user interface details, see"Worksheet Configuration Pane - Filter Tab" on page 13.

Note: You cannot filter based onmemo (CLOB) fields.

c. Sort the report. In the Sort tab of theWorksheet Configuration pane, select the fields bywhich the report is sorted and set the sorting criteria. For user interface details, see"Worksheet Configuration Pane - Sorting Tab" on page 15.

Note: You cannot sort onmemo (CLOB) fields.

d. Select the projects to be included in the report. In the Advanced tab of theWorksheetConfiguration pane, select Include domain and project name and select the projects toinclude in the report. For user interface details, see "Worksheet Configuration Pane -Advanced Tab" on page 17.

e. Edit the query. In the Advanced tab of theWorksheet Configuration pane, click Edit Queryto configure the report by directly editing the DQL query. For user interface details, see"Worksheet Configuration Pane - Advanced Tab" on page 17.

Note: If you edit the query, the other tabs of theWorksheet Configuration pane aredisabled and all selection, sorting, and filtering of fields are done directly in theDQL query.

5. Save the reportSave the report directly to the ALM Analysis View tree or as a file.a. Save the report to ALM. Click the arrow under theSave button and select Save to ALM. For

user interface details, see "Save Business View Excel Report Dialog Box" on page 23.b. Save the report as a file. Click the arrow under theSave button and select Save to file. In

To access 1. On the ALM sidebar, underDashboard, selectAnalysis View.2. Expand the analysis tree, and select a BusinessView Excel report.

3. Click theConfiguration tab.4. ClickNew Excel. Microsoft Excel opens.5. Click theHP ALM tab.

User interface elements are described below:

UI Element Description

Login. Opens the login screen to log in to ALM.

Logout. Logsout of ALM.

Switch Project. Opens the login screen to switch to another project in the sameALM session.

Add. Opens the AddWorksheet dialog box to create a new worksheet for each selected businessview.

Show Configuration. Toggles theWorksheet Configuration pane.

Auto Refresh. Automatically refreshes the active worksheet each time its configuration ischanged.

Row Limit. Sets themaximumnumber of rowsshown in each BusinessView worksheet.

Note: Set the value to zero to retrieve all rows.

Refresh. Refreshes the current worksheet.

Open. Opensa businessview Excelworkbook from a file or from the ALMAnalysisView tree.

Save. Saves the current BusinessView Excelworkbook to a file or to the ALMAnalysisView tree.

Options. Opens theHP ALM AddinOptionsdialog box. See "Business View Options DialogBox" on page 22 for details.

Help. Opens theHPApplication LifecycleManagement Help for the add-in.

Note: The help opensonlywhen you are logged in to ALM.

The Filter tab of the worksheet configuration pane enables you to filter the data to be included in thereport. User interface elements are described below:

Copy Filter Settings. Copies the filter settings to theClipboard.

Validates the query. The following checksare performed:

l That the DQL syntax is correct.

l That the query containsonly fields from selected entities.

Deletes the selected businessview from the query.

Main pane Displaysa <businessview>dialog box for everybusinessview that hasbeen added to the query, aswell asdefined relationshipsbetween businessviews.

Enablesyou to define filter criteria for businessview fields.

To add a field to the grid, in the <businessview>dialog box in theMain pane, use the checkboxes toselect the desired fields.

Tip: You can use theAlias column to change a field's label.

DQL Query Builder Displays the businessview query.

The queryupdatesautomatically as you add entitiesand define relationships.

You can create and edit a view byentering the querydirectly in the DQLQueryBuilder.

Query Resultspane

Appearswhen you clickPreview. Displays the following information:

l Query Results.Valid viewsonly. Displaysa preview of the view.

l Query Messages. Invalid viewsonly. Displaysmessagesdetailing problemswith the view.Place the cursor over themessage text to view a tooltip displaying the fullmessage.

New Folder Createsa folder in the ALM AnalysisView tree. TheNew Analysis Item Folder dialogboxopens. Enter the folder name and clickOK.
