How does the program work?The program has 2 free elements:

1. An energy advisory service service deliversface-to-face, phone and digital advice to help small businesses across Australia understand their energy saving opportunities and more effectively switch energy plans and retailers.

2. An energy benchmarking tool for small businesses to compare their energy spend against their peers. The data which underpins this tool supports a ‘true’ comparison based on business type, location and other relevant characteristics.

Who is eligible for advice?Small businesses with between 6 and 20 employees qualify for free advice on how to lower their energy bills and improve their energy efficiency. Services are available to small businesses in all Australian states and territories.

From October 2019, small businesses with 5 or fewer staff that have been adversely affected by drought are also eligible for the personalised energy consultation.

I have a small business—how do I get advice? Advisory services commenced in July 2019. You can register for your free one-on-one energy retail and energy efficiency consultation by calling 1300 415 224 or visiting businessenergyadvice.com.au.

The Small Business Energy Check benchmarking tool tool is designed to be easy for small businesses to use to check their energy spend, providing quick results in real dollar terms. Small businesses with 0 to 20 employees and their advisors can visit checkyourenergyspend.com.au to use the tool as often as they like, with no registration required.
