26th Sunday in Ordinary Time Sunday September 27, 2015
Num 11:25-29 Jealousy among Moses followers Psalm 19 The precepts of the Lord give joy to the heart. James 5:1-6 Warnings for the rich Mark 9:38-43, 45, 47-48 Jesus responds to his dis-ciples jealousy and misunderstanding.
The Status Trap Real life takes a toll on all of us. As we age, we surrender our youth, our health, even body parts that get replaced if we can afford it. Den-tures, hearing aids, a hairpiece, a prosthetic limb are all signs of that
diminishment. But loss can be gain if we also sur-render our pride, our capacity for sins that could hurt us spiritually or in our relationships. Todays Gospel warns us to avoid sin at all costs: If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. The pas-sage goes on to say that the same applies to your foot or your eye. In the end, it is better to lop off what would have weighed us down or tripped us up. Travel light, let go, avoid what is harmful, go swiftly home to Gods all-embracing love. -- Deacon Dick Folger Next Weeks Readings Gen 2:18-24 God creates man and woman for one another. Psalm 128 May the Lord bless us all the days of our lives. Heb 2:9-11 The Son of God shares in human suf-fering. Mark 10:2-16 Jesus affirms the bond of marriage.

Retrouvaille Thinking about Separation or Divorce?
Is your marriage or that of a relative or friend head-ing for divorce? Do you know how to save that mar-riage? Or do you feel helpless? Retrouvaille (pronounced retro-vi with a long i) is designed to help troubled marriages regain their health. It helps spouses re-awaken the love, trust and commitment that originally brought them together. The program is highly successful in saving hurting marriages, even bringing reconciliation to couples that have already separated or divorced. For confidential in-formation about, or to register for the program be-ginning with a weekend on October 23, 2015, in Niagara Falls please call 905-664-5212 or email: [email protected] or visit the web site at www.retrouvaille.org.
Bishops Charity Dinner Knights of Columbus of the Niagara Re-gion are hosting the Bishops Charity Din-ner at Club Castropignano, 1311 Egerter Road, Port Robinson on Saturday, Octo-ber 24, 2015. All proceeds, after expenses, go to Bishop Bergie for distribution to his charities of choice. St. Helens has a table reserved. Tickets will cost $60 per person for dinner and a dance. What you can do to Create a Climate of Change! Development and peaces new campaign asks us to take action on climate change. There are many ways in which you can contribute to reducing the carbon emissions that are causing global tempera-tures to rise and are creating climate-related disas-ters such as droughts and typhoons. Even small changes in your everyday life can make a big differ-ence. Did you know that one bus replaces 50 cars on the road? Or that the fruit produced locally will use 10-20 % less gas in its transportation? By re-ducing your carbon emissions, you are showing your solidarity with the most poor and vulnerable in the Global South affected by climate change. To learn about how you can Create a Climate of Change, visit devp.org/climateofchange. Sacramental Preparation Children in Public Schools - Attention: Parents of public school chil-dren: Does your child need to prepare for: - bap-tism? - first communion - confirmation? & reconcili-ation?
