PLANNED PARENTHOOD & KKK ~ SHARE A RELATED BIGOTRY

Founder of Planned Parenthood ~ Margaret Sanger ~ was racist and anti-Catholic!

Planned Parenthood’s illustrious founder, Margaret Sanger, the “Mother of American Abortion” was anti-Catholic, anti-Black, anti-Southern European and an ardent proponent of contraception as a cure for societal ills such as poverty. Poverty is one of Planned Par-enthood’s standard arguments for abortion. The thinking apparently goes that it is better to have never been born than to have to grow up in poverty. After all, what happy, well adjusted, successful person ever began life at the bottom of the economic ladder?

Sanger was also a proponent of Eugenics – weed-ing out the inferior and undesirable elements of humanity, among which Sanger included “the darker-skinned races”, through contraception and sterilization. Ms Sanger wrote that “Eugenics is …the most adequate and thorough avenue to the solution of racial, political and social prob-lems”. “….we should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service back-grounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Ne-gro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”

~ Our Mission Statement ~ “The Spirit of the Lord is upon us, because the Lord has anointed us

to proclaim: ‘Ecce Agnus Dei’ - Behold the Lamb of God; Behold the Good News of Jesus Christ.”

In a photo we see Margaret speaking to a Klu Klux Klan rally

in which she boasts of her “humanity”.

Page 2: Bulletin August 5, 2012

I saw through the door figures parading with banners and illuminated crosses… In the end, through simple illustrations I believed I had accomplished my pur-pose. A dozen invitations to speak to similar groups were proffered.” (Margaret Sanger 366)

The above quote is taken from the autobiography.

Sanger is often quickly associated with “progressivism.” But considering that the Ku Klux Klan would be consid-ered anything but “progressive” by today’s standards, this quote immediately begs the question- why were the women of the KKK so attracted to her message? These women would have generally rejected progres-

sive or scientific social initiatives. Yet they found Sanger worthy of admiration.

A favorite Catholic-baiter of Sanger's was Norman E. Himes, who contributed articles to Sanger's journal. Himes claimed there were genetic differences between Catholics and non-Catholics. “Are Catholic stocks ...genetically inferior to such non-Catholic libertarian stocks and Unitarians and Universal ...Freethinkers? Inferior to non-Catholics in general? ...my guess is that the answer will someday be made in the af-firmative... and if the supposed differentials in net productivity are also genuine, the situation is anti-social, perhaps gravely so.”

During Margaret Sanger’s lifetime there was more going on other than just promotion of birth control. There were not many women’s rights until August 26th, 1920. She made sure that every woman knew about the other alternatives they had. Local groups were growing and they were taking action into their own hands. The trials of lynching victims, mostly African Americans, was one of the things they took under their power. World War I made her realize that women who were left alone with chil-dren, were not able to take care of all the children by themselves and this is where her idea came in to reducing the number of children. Federal laws were passed earlier to stop the promotion but now there were laws passed to make it legal.

Her bigotry is shockingly hidden behind the auspices of a group that looks like it was/is doing great good! "The mass of ignorant Negroes still breed carelessly and disas-trously, so that the increase among Negroes, even more than the increase among whites, is from that portion of the population least intelligent and fit, and least able to rear their children properly." (Margaret Sanger)

Racism still underlies the motives of Planned Parenthood…. A well known sting opera-tion documented a pro-life activist pretending to be a racist calling Planned Parenthood offices in Ohio and Idaho. The caller asked Planned Parenthood employees, in one case a Planned Parenthood Director of Development, if he could donate money specifically to fund abortions for black women in order to “lower the number of blacks in America”. He responded: “No problem, sir. Every clinic was perfectly willing to accept the donations on that basis.”

Planned Parenthood’s current president, Cecile Richards, is also viru-lently anti-Catholic in her rhetoric, and racism still remains a component of Planned Parenthood’s business plan.

Half of the black children conceived in this country are aborted before reaching our world, and they are aborted at levels nearly three times their demographic representation!

Bulletin Bits Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time The Gospel reading today introduces the Bread of Life dis-course. Just as God fed the Israelites in the desert with quail and manna, he feeds us today with the Body and Blood of His Son, Jesus. Are we taking advantage of this true bread from heaven? Or, are we leaving the table hungry?

WHEN YOU HAVE A CAR TO DONATE, YOU “AUTO THINK”…SVDP! When you hear those radio ads encouraging

the donation of your used car, please keep in mind that your car will most likely NOT be given to someone who can use it. Such cars are usually sold at auction or dismantled for the resale of their parts. That may serve the

profit-purposes of a charitable organization. Yet it’s not very practi-cal for people who have serious transportation needs, but can’t af-ford to buy a car.

On the other hand, when you donate your car to St. Vincent de Paul, once we have determined that the car is safe and functional, we put it directly into the hands of a needy person or family, so it can be used…to drive to work, to go on family errands, or to meet the many other practical needs for getting around. We have no paper-work complications. And we have no large management salaries or administrative costs to pay. We simply serve the needy. So when you’re ready to surrender your car, keep St. Vincent de Paul first on your list of options. Call 630-293-9755. We’ll pick up the car and get it into the hands of someone who can really use it.

Ladies Auxiliary of Ladies Auxiliary of Fr. McGivney 8002Fr. McGivney 8002

Do you have any unfinished sewing, quilt-ing, crocheting, needle point, and or scrap-booking project you just set down and for-got to finish? Or maybe you just want to get away for a little while and play cards or just stop by and have a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy a friendly chat. The Ladies Auxiliary is hosting their 2nd annual “Tabitha kNight” on August 8th in

Sebahar Hall @ 7pm to 9:30pm. Besides the above, we will be stuffing enve-lopes to businesses for the Knights of Co-lumbus Tootsie Roll drive in September and our Quilts of Valor project in November. We will also be working on our scrapbook for the state competition; any scrapbooking experience is surely needed. This social event is open to anyone and everyone.

The 22nd Annual Back to School Fair will be held on Wednesday, August 8th, from 11:00 am to 6:00 p.m. at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton.

This fair offers information and services to families living on low incomes in DuPage County. Approximately one hundred agencies will provide a wide variety of information and free health services for children, ages new-born to 18 years. The health services include dental and vision screenings and All Kids en-

rollment.

Parents will also find information regarding financial assistance, child care options, affordable housing, employment opportunities, legal needs, educational and career opportunities, voter registration, nutrition, social security, car seat and booster seat safety, D.A.R.E. cars, bicycle safety, clowns and much more!

School supplies, backpacks and/or a ten-dollar voucher for the ex-clusive purchase of school supplies will be distributed to eligible students in the family. Interpreters will be available. A parent or guardian must accompany children.

Please bring proof of family income and DuPage County resi-dency, as well as identification for each person in your family. For more information about the Back to School Fair, call Amy Lam-bert at 630-495-8008 x2110 or visit catholiccharitiesjoliet.org.

L ast year, our diocese went to the Philippines to build homes. During a previous visit, the diocese

helped build a grade school for the village children. Since the school is nearby, we were asked to collect school supplies for the children. For many children,

these donations were the first books and school supplies they had ever received. This year, we are asking for these school donations earlier…the end of September or the first part of October. This will allow the shipment to be mailed at a normal rate and not air express. Natalie Bayce, our liaison, sent me a note say-ing: “I heard from the Philippines and they said they would be grateful for anything that St. John’s can provide. There will be 9 children in pre-school in the fall and there are 80 children from 1st through 8th grade. I have a feeling that many go on to high school. Just to tell you about the cost of shipping, last Feb-ruary, I sent two boxes of toys, school supplies, shoes and clothing. It arrived on April 16th. It cost me $150 to send the boxes and it sure is a lot cheaper than what customs and Philippine airlines want for us to bring these items. If we could possibly have the drive at the end of Sept or first part of October, I would send them this way”. I told Natalie we would do our best to get the supplies to her so she could ship them to arrive around the same time she arrives! Please, when you see the school supplies on sale, pick up extras and place them in the receptacles at the entrances of the church! Thank you everyone for all your donations! —Maureen (Brennan), Director, Religious Education

CATHOLICS FOR LIFE

"May the dignity of man according to the Creator's plan be spread."-- Pope John Paul II

Blessed Pope John Paul II discussed radical secularism almost two decades ago when he visited Balti-more and stated, “The challenge facing you, dear friends, is to increase people’s awareness of the impor-

tance for society of religious freedom; to defend that freedom against those who would take religion out of the public domain and establish secularism as America’s official faith...And it is vitally necessary, for the very survival of the American experience, to transmit to the next generation the precious legacy of religious freedom and the convictions which sustain it.” ~ Archbishop William E. Lori, Archbishop of Baltimore, Address “Let Freedom Ring,” May 24, 2012

Most importantly of all, we call upon the Catholic faithful, and all people of faith, throughout our country to join us in prayer and penance for our leaders and for the complete protection of our First Freedom—religious liberty—which is not only protected in the laws and customs of our great nation, but rooted in the teachings of our great Tradition. Prayer is the ultimate source of our strength—for without God, we can do nothing; but with God, all things are possi-ble. ~ United for Religious Freedom: A Statement of the Administrative Committee of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, March 14, 2012

It also provides refunds of 50% of the cash received (not pledged) over the parish goal to each parish. If you receive this mailing, please re-spond generously. You will be helping both our diocese and our parish.

Also, the sixth monthly reminders have been sent to those that made an in-pew pledge to the Appeal. Those that pledged by direct mail have already received payment coupons. Thank you for your gifts, and please make your payment as soon as possible.

For your convenience, you can bring your pledge payments to Mass and place them in the basket. The parish will forward them to the diocese.

2012 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal Pledge Report

Monthly pledge payments for the CMAA pledges should be made in the next few days. It is very important that these pledges be paid so that our parish will reach our goal. Once we have reached our goal in paid pledges, 50% of the ad-ditional funds received will be returned to the parish for our use.

Parish Goal: $92,438 Amount Pledged: $88,708 Amount Paid: $68,717 Remaining Unpaid Balance: $19,991

We are at 95.97% of our goal. If you haven’t yet contributed, will you please consider donating? And, as it states above, if we exceed our goal, 50% of any additional funds comes back to the parish.

Thank you for your generosity.

Whether you will be hospitalized for a few days or whether your surgery is same-day surgery, give one of our priests a call PRIOR to your surgery, so that anointing can be given at a time when you are less stressed. Ask one of the priests following Mass, or call the parish office at 630-668-0918, ext. 600, and set a time to come in BEFORE your surgery for anointing.

Our priests are always available to make hospital visits. However, you or a family member must notify the St. John’s parish office of the confinement in the hospital. Also, remind the hospital that the name of the patient must be shown on the visitation sheet which is given to the priest when he makes his calls. We want to make sure our parishioners needs and requests are met, so please remember this when entering the hospital.
