Todays MessageThe Birth of Jesus

As pastors, we often talk about the sovereignty of God. In order for us to get a better grasp of sovereignty, we will begin with the word Omnipotence. Gods omnipotence means that God is able to do ALL his holy will. The word Omnipotence is derived from two latin words, omni, that means all and potens that means powerful. Combined it means all powerful". The omnipotence of God tells us that there are no external constraints on Gods decisions. Gods omnipotence means that His power gives Him the ability to do whatever He decides to do.

Now youre thinking what does that have to do with me? Well, let me ask you, have you ever been frustrated that your plans didnt go as you had hoped? I have and if youre like me, your theology kicks in and you remember that God is Omnipotent, the all powerful God. Hes sovereign, one who exercises His power over His creation. Hes the God who has determined the circumstances and the events of your lifes journey to fulfill ALL His holy will. Now this is also true in the life of Joseph and Mary. So, lets look at The Birth of Jesus and see how Gods Sovereignty and God's Providence brought about the fulfillment of The Gospel of God in the birth of Jesus.
