Building the Pillars for a Digital Economy in Peru

Six Pillars:

1) Hard Infrastructure: Fiber-optic network needed to be established throughout the country to support the digital economy.

2) Soft Infrastructure: Laws and regulations surrounding the digital economy, as well as cyber-security.


3) Service Infrastructure: Facilities that the Government provides for businesses and individuals.

4) Digital-Economy promotion: The Government needs to do this in every component of society including business, individuals, and the agencies of the state itself.


5) Digital Society: Educating Peruvians on how to use these new technologies in proper ways to improve the quality of their living and working environments.

6) Digital Knowledge: Putting useful information into digital formats that are widely accessible.

We’ve been working on Digital Economy already. The DE concept is about how to utilize ICT (information and communication technology) for social and economic benefits. Both, the governments and private sectors have been working on this, but it has lacked synergy.

The DE concept would permeate all sectors of the country: government, business, education, and society.
