“An age friendly community is a community which supports all people – it is potentially a tool for social inclusion, participation and productivity.”Dr Catherine Bridge, Faculty of the Built Environment, UNSW
Age-friendly = Person-friendly
Our communities are less dementia friendly than they are age friendly
- There are currently 280,000 Australians living with dementia.
- That number will jump to 950,000 by 2050.
- There are currently between 90,000 and 135,000 people with dementia living in residential aged care.
