Our history

Fontaneto s.r.l. was established in May 1988 by the

Fontaneto family

Our owner, Fabio Fontaneto, is a member of CNA

(the Confederation of Small and medium enterprises)

Our Plant

We have three production lines:

- Extra fresh handmade products with max 10-day shelf-life

- Fresh products ATM (protective atmosphere packaging)

with max 45-day shelf-life

- Long Life products with max 150-day shelf-life

Every year about one- third of the world production of food for human consumption is lost or wasted throughout the food chain

How do we do it?

• Careful selection of raw materials • Fine Production planning • Waste management (packaging materials) • Recycling of packaging material

Careful selection of raw materials

• Selection of raw materials with light packaging (no double packaging)

• Selection of raw materials technologically suitable for use for reducing waste

• Planning of raw materials orders based on the shelf life

Fine Production planning

• We receive the order of the customer during the night

• We plan the production scheduling depending on the different types of pasta and filling considering for example the allergen content or the color of the pasta in order to recycle the processing scrapes as much as possible

• We deliver the goods in the same morning in order to ensure maximum product life

Waste management (packaging materials)

• In cooperation with our suppliers we study every packaging to reduce waste (for example cardboard that becomes a display)

• We search and buy recyclable primary packaging (in paper or in plastic material), but it is not always simple to find recyclable materials coupled ( next aim)

• We pick up and divide three different type of material : wood, paper and cardboard and plastic materials

• We stock every type of materials in a different bin

• Specialized enterprises pick up the waste for recycling all materials

Waste recycling: how can we manage if it’s not so easy?

• We stock all the production scrapes in a refrigerated bin and a specialized enterprises pick up the waste for producing pet-food

• When the products are near best before day, we make a donation to different charity association ( Red Cross, Caritas)

Fontaneto S.r.l. is using renewable energy sources since 2008. The whole factory roof is dedicated to produce energy thanks to a modern Solar Panels installation
