It was fantastic to see the wonderful costumes and all the big smiling faces from our students. A big thank you to our parents and carers for the efforts you made sourcing costumes. Our students looked amazing. Please see the Budgewoi public School Facebook Page or our Instagram page for more photos and regular school updates. Entering the school grounds- Due to the COVID restrictions, parents are reminded that entering the school grounds is still discouraged. If you need to come into the school you are to go to the office only. We really appreciate your cooperation in this matter. We will keep you updated with any changes or easing of restrictions as they occur. A reminder to send your child to school with a water bottle. As the weather is heating up it is important that every student has a water bottle at school so they can fill it up throughout the day and keep hydrated. Cross Country We are looking forward to our Cross Country this Wednesday 23rd September. Students are encouraged to wear their house colours on the day. We are reminding students that we should be polite to every person we speak to. This includes office staff, canteen ladies, crossing guards, bus drivers and so on. We will be rewarding students this week with bee tickets if they are using polite talk. We would appreciate it if parents could please reinforce this at home. We had our Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 assemblies on Friday and all our students were curious creatures with wild minds! We had some amazing award winners, and the $2 canteen vouchers went to Gemma (2A), Xavier (2A), James (1J), Luca (KD) and Kaleb (KS). The ‘Class of the Assembly’ was KO and 1J! Keep earning those bee tickets! There was an error in Week 7’s ‘Class of the Assembly’ – the winners were 2L. Public Speaking Congratulations to all our wonderful speakers last week. The skills, efforts and enthusiasm from all speakers is to be commended. Thank you to the families and teachers for their consistent support, encouragement and feedback throughout the competition, it is greatly appreciated. Due to Covid-19 restrictions our competition was run a little differently this year, it was great to see all the parents and caregivers join us on zoom to view the Finals. We look forward to further expanding our skills for next year. Well done to all children who participated in the entire competition. The winners will get medals on Presentation Day. Grand Final Winners Kinder – Benji T Stage One- Ethan H Stage Two- Lauren S Stage Three – Katie R Overall K-2 winner – Ethan H Overall 3-6 winner – Katie R Stewart House Donation Drive Stewart House donation envelopes were sent home in Week 8 for those wishing to make a donation. All $2 donations are entered in the prize draw for the chance to win a $4 000 family holiday to a destination of your choice and at the same time raising much needed funds for this worthy charity. All envelopes and money are to be returned by the end of this week (25 th Sept). Please disregard the date on the envelope. Mrs Vincent (SRC Coordinator) Reminders for parents and careers at morning drop off times students will continue to enter the Lukela Ave gate OR Doyle Ave gate. ask that parents drop off their children and leave the area as quickly as possible to make the school drop off a smooth process for all involved. Please also be mindful of social distancing. There are staff stationed at the gate to assist your child/children into the playground. If you need to speak with your child’s class teacher, please contact the office and organise a time to book a meeting with the teacher. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Information about School Exemptions/Holidays. Travel outside of school holiday periods needs a Certificate of Extended Leave – Travel available from the school. The principal can accept a reason for travel during school term if it is in the best interests of the student, such as educational, social and participation reasons; this also includes family business, bereavement or other reasons, which should be specified on the application. On accepting a parent’s Application a Certificate of Extended Leave – Travel is issued. The certificate is provided to the parent. The Principal may decline to accept a parents Application of a Certificate of Extended Leave – Travel, the parent will be advised in writing. Even though a Certificate of Extended Leave is issued travel outside of the vacation period is counted as an absence for statistical purposes by the Department of Education and will be recorded as L – Leave and will count as an absence on your child’s school report. Kindergarten 2021- Enrol Now! If you have not collected your enrolment form or given us the details for students enrolling in Kindergarten in 2021 this needs to occur now. Enrolment forms can be returned and birth certificates and immunisation forms later in the year. This will ensure you get all the necessary information you need to enable your child to have a smooth transition to school Online Enrolment for new students If your child lives within the local intake area of our school and is an Australian or New Zealand citizen, you can make an application for enrolment through our school website under the ‘Enrolment’ tab. For further information please call the school on 43909166. The Online Enrolment System is designed to provide flexibility for our parents to submit an enrolment application online and at the time that best suits you. The application can be accessed on all browsers and mobile devices including iOS and Android The online application process is currently restricted to:

• Enrolments into local schools only • Children who are Australian citizens, New Zealand

citizens or permanent residents • Children who live in NSW

We offer our support and encourage you to complete your application to enrol online. If, however, you do not feel comfortable completing an application online, a paper copy will be available for collection from the front office or can be downloaded from the Department’s going to a public school site.
