Lesson/Instructions/Assignments:

READING: Social Media Post: Create a PIC collage or a poster of what Scott’s

social media posts would look like and/or read after chapter 11. You can create an

instagram, Facebook, snapchat, etc. of Scott’s post (use hashtags, etc.). Remember

Scott just woke up to a boy in his house (Bud). He has just found out that Bud ran

away from home, and Scott had a lot of questions for Bud. (iPad pg. 74-75) He is

having breakfast with Bud, his sister, his mom, and grandfather. His sister is

singing, and his granddad is cracking jokes about his mom’s cooking.

ELA: Students will watch a plural nouns video in Showbie and complete an

assignment on plural nouns. (add –s, add-es; -ch, -sh, ss, x, zz, change y to i and add

–es, change f or fe to ves).

5) Make a new slide for each piece on the Project Checklist. Even though you haven’t

completed certain pieces yet, it is ok to make slides for them now.

6) Click the + sign in the lower left corner to make a new side.

*Type an appropriate title at the top of each.

For example: “Cattle Adaptations” , “The Goodnight-Loving Trail”, “My Cattle Brand” *You will likely use a variety of slide layouts for the rest of the presentation.

*Choose a slide that is appropriate for each piece of your project.

For example, choose a slide that is set up to include a photo when you want to put one in.

7) Type “The Purpose of the Cattle Drives” or another appropriate title on the second

slide.

8) Type the name of your position as the title of the third slide.

9) Type “Comparing Positions” or another appropriate title on the fourth slide.

10) Type the name of a trail you chose on Monday on the fifth slide.

like the Alamo, we find special presentations (or, spotlights) of individual people. You will make a

spotlight of the man you learned about yesterday.

1. Log in to Showbie and go to Social Studies Week 8 (gray folder).

2. Find this assignment: “F. Friday May 15th.”

3. Review the information you have about the man you chose yesterday.

4. Write a paragraph that includes 5 important details of his life.

Make sure to include how he was involved with ranching and cattle drives.

Enrichment (optional): Add more details of this man’s life to your spotlight.
