I am pleased to know that 'Bal Sansar Sansthan' in partnership with UNICEF and Community is implementing the 'Taiyari Project' in Ajmer and Tonk districts with the aim of adolescents' awareness, skill development and empowerment.
I have been told that this project has been conceptualized and is being implemented in close coordination with the involvement of parents, and the representatives of the departments such as education, medical and health, women and child development, social justice and empowerment.
As I can see, the concept and the implementation of 'Taiyari Model' has helped in better comprehension of the adolescents' issue in a most sensitive manner. This compilation of case studies of the selected adolescents, who are the project beneficiaries, seems to be a true reflection and the testimonies of the positive changes and empowering process initiated among these adolescent boys and girls.
I believe that these individual beneficiary case-stories will also serve as an inspiration tool for the other adolescents as well.
I congratulate Bal Sansar Sanstha, UNICEF and all the 'Taiyari' Leaders for their commendable efforts and expect that the key learning derived from the “Taiyari” project may also be adopted and applied in the other adolescent programmes on a wider scale.
With all My Best Wishes.
Sincerely
Dr. Arun Chaturvedi

The inspiring address to the Adolescents by
Mr. Samuel Mawanganidze, Chief, UNICEF Rajasthan
Mr. Samuel Mawanganidze, Chief, UNICEF Rajasthan while inaugurating the 'Taiyari' fair said, “When I came
here almost a year ago, I saw only 30-35 adolescents. Today, I am most happy to see that this number has
gone up to more than 500 girls and boys. Also, I am happy to see that so many adolescents are collectivizing;
making themselves better informed; engaging in better understanding and reaching out and appealing to
local leadership to create supportive environment for children to enter, go through and exit the adolescent
phase with pride and dignity, both individually and as valuable members of the society. This is a good
beginning, you all have developed a fair understanding about the reason of coming together and now it's time
to bring desired change of jointly achieving adolescent empowerment for envisaged developmental results.”
Mr. Samuel motivated the adolescents by giving a new slogan to them, i.e.. “JABOKA”, which stands for
'JANO (to Know)', 'BOLO (to speak out), 'KARO (to act)'; which later, got adopted and imbibed fully by all
Taiyari Samoohs. He added further, “The way you youngsters are collectivizing, making efforts to learn,
seeking to understand, making elders to understand too, initiating action for desired change - all this indicates
that we are surely going to achieve our goals”, he added.
“I wish you all a great future and success in all your endeavours in life!!`` he concluded.
Samuel Mawanganidze, Chief, UNICEF Rajasthan

The idea behind bringing out this publication isto share these testimonies by the
adolescent beneficiaries as an example and evidence of behavioral and
psychological changes they experienced during the project period and due to the
learnings from the “Taiyari' project.
This sharing is intended for the knowledge transfer so that any agency working with
the adolescents and the community members may read about and undrstand the adolescents' issues and get
engaged in the building up the needed response. This compilation of some of the selected stories from the
members of the 'Taiyari Samoohs' (adolescents' groups) titled “Taiyari” a journey towards change :tales to tell, is
having 21 real testimonies of change written in their own words and further arranged by the project team into 5
parts, titled as skill development; child marriage; girl-child education; health; and child labor.
The testimonies have been written in three styles such as (a) self–narration; (b) ring-side view; and (c) mixture of
the two styles depending on the confort zones of the individual cases. The summary of case is given in a tabular
form describing the context and the change, while the text below describes the phases of changes through the
inputs of the project.
We firmly believe that each adolescent possesses a positive mindset towards the life and does carry some hidden
potentials. All we need to do is to identify those potentials and support them to grow while moving in a right direction.
“Taiyari' project had taken up this task and enabled these adolescents to express themselves to a wider world by
sharing about 'what all they have gone through', 'what all the changes they do feel now after going through a
process of change', and 'what they aspire for the future'.
We do hope that this compilation of adolescent cases will help the readers, programme functionaries andother
organizations working with the adolescents with the similar objectives in enhancing their understanding and
informing their programme responses. We'll be happy having your feedback.

Taiyari “A box of learning”
thMy name is Chanda Jangir and I am a student of class 12 in Bambor Village. My father is a blacksmith. My family has always supported me in the decisions I made and this has motivated me to be associated with “Taiyari Project”. Today, I feel proud to say that this project has helped me a lot in gaining self –confidence.
Before joining this project have, I didn't have the confidence to express my thoughts in front of an audience but after project I helped to me learned many new things which can be described as follows:
ü I got a platform to express my views and now I can express them without any fear
ü I hed never thought that I could lead a team but this project has provided me an opportunity to demonstrate my leadership skills.
ü I got confidence from managing different activities which is quite important in the execution of any work.
ü I have worked towards eradication of social evils like child marriage, female infanticide and dowry system and today in my group, the girls are aware of these issues which will help them in their future life.
ü I also learned how to give message to the community to work on certain issues, e.g., the girls in my group chose activities such as “Meri Diwar”, painting, rally etc.
ü First time, I came to know about the importance of hemoglobin test and Iron capsules. I got myself tested for hemoglobin (HB) and found out that my HB level has increased from 9.7 to 10.5 gm.
ü I came to know how a healthy and nutritious food can help to increase the level of HB
ü I also came to know about different government initiatives for children and women.
I believe that Taiyari project is a box of learning for the teenagers which encourages them to do good work. It is like a teacher who teaches its pupils to always choose the right path.
Result: Became aware about social evils got, hemoglobin tests and improved health, conducted & could speak in the meetings and discussions

Beneficiary of Taiyari Project
Bal Sansar Sanstha in association with UNICEF started Taiyari project for the empowerment of teens and under
this project several group of teens has been made. The leader of one such group, Mohit Yadav, underweat the
following changes in himself due to this project:
Result: Became able to put forward her point of view effectively in the group; Became leader of the group
and encouraged other members too for the discussion
ü Although the cluster coordinater identified the talent in Mohit to express his views but there was fear in his mind
due to begin rejected as the leader of the group earlier . After encouragement he accepted to be the second
leader of the group and was trained for the same
ü He slowly started communicating in the activities of this project and today Mohit can put forward his views
effectively in the group, he can even speak before an audience of 500 without hesitation.
ü While speaking on a topic he even answers the questions from the audience
ü He says that if he hadn't got this platform and opportunity, the fear in his mind would have continued till now.
ü He has gained knowledge about health, cleanliness, Child marriage, child labour, HIV, girl education and
developed a positive thinking.
ü He even leads the group with confidence in any workshop or event which is outside his village
ü He encourages his group members to ask questions in meetings, trainings etc.
Thus the behavioral changes observed in the personal life of Mohit were due to the opportunities he got
through Taiyari Project.

Goodbye to Hesitation
thMohammed Lateef khan is 16 years old and presently studying in 10 class. He has 4 brothers and sister and is next to the youngest sibling in his family. His father has a private job and his mother died when he was just 8 year old. His whole family lives in the village “Borkhandi” which is around 40 km from the district Tonk of Rajasthan. Most of the people living in the village are either Muslim or Yadav or Gurjar.
This case study presents you a life story of a teenager who was afraid of talking or presenting himself in front of the people around him. He was unable to put for the thoughts and feeling among his peers or other people in the community because of the hesitation and lack of confidence to speak.
Under project Taiyari, the team talked with teachers of various schools in Borkhandikal and explained the details of Project Taiyari. The team also told them that they will make groups of young boys and girls and also appoint a team leader among them. The teachers suggested the name of Lateef as the group leader. Lateef could not be appointed as the team leader or included in the group just based on the suggestion of teachers. The permission of Lateef's father was also required to finalize the appointment. Therefore, the Taiyari team met with his father and explained the details of Project Taiyari. The team also asked for the permission to make Lateef as the group leader. Although his father was working in a private job, he had a great sense of understanding the reasons behind the project. He gave his permission to make Lateef as the group leader.
In the words of Lateef; I also accepted the proposal of Group Leader but there was still a fear in my mind which I have already described. I always had a hesitation to put forward my ideas among my peers, teachers and other members of panchayat. The Taiyari Team understood my fear of speaking in front of people and helped me to overcome this hesitation and fear. They started to give me a topic in every group meeting on which I had to speak in front of them. This was like a mock preparation for public speaking. Slowly, I began to understand the working of the group and wherever I used to face any problem, Taiyari Team used to help and teach me to tackle that situation. This led to a slow but a steady change in my personality. I began to learn new information and used to present that in front of the group members. This led to a smooth personality change in me. Today, I freely express my view on the topics such as health, child marriage and child labour and discuss on various social issues among my peers, teachers and village community.
I sincerely thank Project Taiyari and Team for bringing this change in me. Today, I rarely hesitate in speaking and express my view point confidently on various forums, platfomas and occasions. I can proudly say that Taiyari Project has helped me to say “Goodbye” to hesitation.
Result: Underwent change in personality, gained confideanc in speaking and can freely express his view
points on various forums and occasions

“Opportunity to Host the Stage”
“It is a very pride moment for an individual to host an event because it's a very rare opportunity both for the adult or
the teenagers to gain social skills. The individuals get this opportunity after doing a lot of hard work regularly. Once
this opportunity is grabbed, the person is filled with new energy and happiness thinking that he is driving the event
as per his/her command. Such an opportunity was grabbed by me in my teen age with the help of Taiyari Team. I
had never thought that I will be able to successfully host the event in front of 350 teenagers, Village Panchayat
Members, Health Department Officers, my family and Bal Sansar Sanstha President.
I hosted the fair for teens under Project Taiyari in Village Sohela District Tonk. It was the happiest day in my life
because my father's friends were also present in that fair and they all appreciated me by patting at the back for my
hosting. I realized that it was all possible because of Bal Sansar Organization.” Said Shailendra singh confidently thand precisely who had his journey as a Taiyari group Leader in the project. Shailendra singh is studying in class 9 .
He belongs to Ranoli Village of Tonk District which is 40km from the district. His father is a teacher and mother is a
housewife and both have helped him in joining Project Taiyari since beginning. When Shailendra joined Taiyari, he
rarely used to speak and had a very little information about behavioral knowledge. He was also lagging in doing
conversation with other individuals.
After joining Taiyari, he worked on various issues, attended and made himself involved in meetings and developed
the knowledge on health and social issues. Today, he advocates not doing child labor and marriages among his
peers and other members of village. He attends meetings with the members of Village Panchayat and briefs them
about the working and status of his Taiyari Group.
Shailendra Singh's Parents are proud and happy with the changes that have been inculcated in their child. Today,
they say that their child can freely express his heart out without any hesitation. They thank Taiyari group and Bal
Sansar Sanstha Organization for bringing this new change and energy into him.

Got open stage
thI am a student of class 9 at State Secondary School, Baroni, district Tonk. Baroni village is located on Jaipur Kota
highway NH 12 and at a distance of 12 km from Tonk. My father is in state services and mother is a housewife.
My parents say that I have a shy nature since childhood and spoke very less which was disturbing for my family as
no one wants that that a child of a family should speak very little. In the life of every person there comes a pleasant
opportunity and in my life this day comes when I joined the Taiyari project as a member and now I am known as the
leader of “TaiyariSamooh”. Today I speak so much that my family wonders if I am the same Hemraj.
thWhen I was the student of class 8 , I came in contact with Taiyari project workers from Bal SansarSanstha who had
been motivating the adolescent boys and girls of the village to become a member of the project. They came to my
house also and explained about this project in detail to my father highlighting that this project is focused on showing
a new path to teens and providing a stage to them for expressing their views openly.
After getting permission from my parents, I became a member of the “Taiyarisamooh” but due to my shy nature I
hesitated in attending the meetings of the group and also never visited the information center. The NGO workers
then explained to me that only becoming member will not bring about a change in me, I also needed to attend
regular meetings. I thus attended regular meetings of the group and gained knowledge about different issues being
discussed. Apart from the meeting some interesting activities were also being conducted by the NGO workers like
painting, Essay, General Knowledge Quiz, Games etc. and I participated in them too.
Time passed and an interest generated in me to talk to others and express my views. Today the situation is such
that I can express my views without hesitation and due to this change I have been selected as the leader of the
Taiyari group of Baroni, I also openly discuss project related issues like health and personal hygiene, social issues
like child marriage, child labor, importance of girl and girl education with the teens of the “Samooh”.
Hence, I will not hesitate to say that Taiyari project is the one which has provided an open forum to us adolescent
boys and girls and I am thankful to Bal SansarSanstha for these positive changes in me.
Result : Started expressing views without hesitation; got selected as leader of Taiyari Samooh and gained
knowledge about different issues.

A True Partner
Result : Can put forward his views and can speak openly on any forum or platform.
I, Daya Ram Sen, a resident of Sohela village, live with my parents and a brother in a rented house. My family
financial condition is not good. My father has a shop and my mother works as a labor to earn the living.
My father has never allowed the economic condition of the family to hamper my studies and at present I am th
studying in class 10 in a private school. My school provides a good education and also different programs for our
development. When Taiyari Project started in my school which is managed by Bal Sansar Sanstha with an aim to
prepare the adolescents for their future and make them capable, mainly these points are discussed under this
project. I got interest in it. I still remember that it was told that the project is about understanding adolescence and
acquiring life skills.
After taking my guardian permission and help from NGO workers, I filled form and became member of the Taiyari
Samooh. I was unaware about the above mentioned points and I was unable to put forward my points in front of
others, also I could not express my views and was scared to do so. I could not speak in the class and was always in
search of a partner who could present my views in front of others. But, ever since I got associated with Taiyari
project it gave a new meaning to my life and helped me in finding better path in every field. This change enabled me
to express my views myself and not to find someone else to express my opinions.
Thus this project has given me self-confidence; improved my thinking and decision making abilities and given my
views a new direction. Today I can put forward my views, anywhere and can speak openly on any platform. It has
brought an important change in my life.
We performed many activities under this project like making of my wall by the group members, organizing games
and painting competition, General Knowledge quiz helped in bringing about a change in my attitude forward
society.
I thank the team of Taiyari, my parents, my teachers who has motivated me to get associated with this program. I
think of Taiyari as a true partner which has given me courage to express myself

“Making of Right Thinking”
My name is Sangeeta Sen and I belong to the village named Dardaturki. The predominant community in our village
is Muslim. I have 2 sisters and a brother. My father is a barbour and my mother is a cook in a school.
When Taiyari project came in our village, I became a member of Project. I had a hesitation to speak in front of the
people and had also a very little behavioral knowledge. I was very poor in differentiating between what was right or
wrong for me in life.
After becoming the Taiyari Group Leader, I started to take knowledge on varied areas. I also started to impart
relevant information to various other teenagers of my Taiyari group. There used to be times when Taiyari workers
did not make a visit to the village. On such occasions, I used to take along with me the other group members and
started to have a discussion on various topics. We made the “My Wall” in our village where we could put our
thoughts. This helped us to convey our messages to our parents and other village members which we were not able
to directly speak and also to bring a change in their thought process.
We as a group of Teenagers also opened an informational centre in our village. After doing the above mentioned
activities, I gained self confidence. Today, I can express my feeling; put forward my view points and speak
confidently in front of people in the village. I can proudly say that this change in me has occurred after joining Project
Taiyari. We got an inspiration to learn about the future and how to build it our selves. I personaly got a thorough
understanding of what was right and wrong for me.
I sincerely thank Bal Sansar Organization for providing me an inspiration. They taught me how to speak to
elders and acquire a proper lifestyle.

wrong

Let us together take an oath
Background: This case is about a teenager whose marriage took place when he was just a student of class 2. This
child says that poor economic condition of his family, illiteracy among family members and prevalence of child
marriage in the society were some of the major reasons which led to his child marriage. However, in his familys no
one ever thought of the ill effects of this decision. At that time he was unable to understand anything and also no
Taiyari project officers were available to make him understand.
I would like to thank Bal Sansaar Sanstha personnel for providing me adequate information and giving me courage
to take the resolution that I will not allow the child marriage of any of my friends.
thI am Ramganesh Prajapat who is a resident of Baroni village and am a student of Class 9 . My family economic
condition is not so good, my father is a farmer. I was inducted us a leader of the teen group under the Taiyari project.
Under the Taiyari project, we were made aware about different issues, specially, the issue of child marriage which
had affected my life deeply. Initially, the only knowledge I had about this issue was that I had been married early in
my life; I was unaware that child marriage is a curse and instead of strengthening it created differences in
relationship. After learning about these issues, I thought that if someone had given this information to my family
earlier, I would have got saved of this social evil.
Concluding remark: With help from Taiyari personnel and other group members I have taken a pledge that
whatever has happened to me, I will not let this happen to anybody else. Thus, together let us take a pledge that we
will not allow child marriage anymore and make people aware that the legal age of marriage for boys and girls is 21
and 18 respectively.
Result : Enhanced in awareness about social issues especially child marriage, got motivated by the
pledge for not allowing child marriage.
CHILD MARRIAGE
12
Name : Ramganesh Prajapat
Village : Baroni
Context : Married early when he was a student of class 2, withdrawn due to weak financial condition and illiteracy among family members
Action : Made Team leader of Taiyari group, encouraged to speak during discussions on different issues in meetings
Firm Decision, will not allow Child Marriage
I, Salma Bano, the daughter of Sri Bholu Khan living in Kayampura village, worked as the leader of Taiyari Samooh
under the Taiyari project since May 2013. Under this project the Taiyari personnel made us and other people aware
by providing information on the following issues: Importance of girl child; Education of girls; Child marriage;
Personal health; Child labor; Child rights; Dowry system and HIV & AIDS.
My understanding about these issues increased when the NGO workers conducted regular meetings and
workshop with the “Taiyari samooh.” During training, when child marriage was discussed in detail, I attentively
listened to the discussion as I had been married while I was a child. During that time I was unable to understand the
ill effects of this social evil.
thWhen I was studying in class 8 and was unaware about what child marriage means, without being asked my wish I
was married to a man who worked as a driver and do not come to his home for a long time. I haven't been sent to my
in laws house because my “gauna” hasn't been done yet.
One day in a meeting, the Taiyari officers of Bal Sansar Sanstha were telling about HIV, what are its causes and
how it spreads and then I was scared because my husband since he did not come home for a long time. I gathered
all the information about HIV and determined that whenever I will go to my in laws house, I will give these
information to my husband.
Thus, the Taiyari project has given new meaning to my life and opened my eyes on important issues of life. I have
taken a pledge that I will not allow child marriage of my children and will explain others too that marriage should take
place only after the legal age.
Result: Increased awareness on Child marriage and HIV, Decided to abide by the pledge that will not allow child marriage of her children and others, Started taking informed decision.

Fulfillment of dream
th Result: Rejoined school currently studying in class 12 ; Motivated and ensured rejoining of three girls to
the school.
I Kali Devi, resident of village Bubani, district Ajmer, had been the member of the Taiyari teen group. My dream was
to be well educated and to rise up in life but I was not aware that this dream will not be fulfilled. In the year 2002 after th
I passed class 10 , I expressed the desire to study further but my family member refused my request because of the
financial condition of the family.
I thought a lot on who could help me in this situation but it was limited to me only due to which I remained depressed
for certain days and after that I also stopped thinking.
One day during the meeting of Taiyari group when the importance of girl education was being discussed, I got
emotional during the discussion and my eyes were filled with tears. Then the Taiyari officers asked the reason for
the same, understood my feelings and motivated me to have a talk with my parents regarding my further studies
and introduce them to the NGO workers. I introduced the NGO workers to my family and though it was difficult to
seek their approval, finally my family allowed me to continue my further studies.

True meaning of friendship
thResult: Rejoined studies and filled class 10 form through Rajasthan State Open Schooling; Gained self
confidence.
My name is Manbhar and I belong to village Ramner Ki Dhani. My village is located in Kishangarh, district Ajmer
under the Srinagar development block and is at a distance of 5 Km from Ajmer. My family comprises of 9 members
that include my parents, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. My family's financial condition is weak. My parents work as labor
to earn the is livelihood and take care of the family.I want to tell you
Why my story is memorable for me, how I started my education again and who helped me in this regard:
thI took my class 10 examination in 2013 but even after studying hard my result was not good and I could not clear
the examination. I was desponded since even after working hard I was not successful. My family was disappointed th
and started to take me for labor work without understanding my situation. I wanted to pass my 12 examination but I
was unclear on how to fulfil my dream. My family started to put pressure on me for marriage since I had reached an
age at which most of the girls in the village usually married.
During this time I became the member of TaiyariSamooh under the Taiyari project working towards the teens.I also
contacted my friend Kanta and told her about my story. Kanta gave me courage and said that “a friend in need is a
friend indeed”, she told me about herself and gave me advice to meet NGO workers. I met them and told them my
story. They met with my family and explained to them the importance of girl education.
My father however refused saying that the family situation was not good and he wanted to marry his child, he also
pointed out that it was unsure whether she would get a job after studies and he did not have money to pay for her
studies. The NGO workers told my father “A girl takes care of seven generations of two families and hence for a girl,
education is an earning which cannot be undermind.'' They told my father that he just need to say yes for her
education and They would take care of the rest
thThat was the day when I felt so happy and hoped that I would pass for the examination. On 8 September 2014, I
filled the form of Rajasthan State Open School which my friend Kanta has helped me and showed the true meaning
of friendship. Bal SansarSanstha arranged for the fees with help from Toshniwal Industries and hence I express my
gratitude to them.

Self Confidence led to Success

My name is Kanta Meghvanshi and I am 19 years old. I belong to the village Ramner Dhani in the district Ajmer. My father works as a labor in a factory in a nearby town and mother works as labor in the village.
I would like to tell you my story on how my dreams were fulfilled. My dream was to complete education up till class th10 but I kept on thinking on who will help me to achieve this dream and how will my dream be fulfilled. But one day
th thsomething happened which helped me in realizing my dream, I completed studies not only till 10 but till 12 class.
thSome 3 years ago, I left my studies after finishing class 8 ; I should rather say that my family stopped my studies because school providing further education was not available in the village. As said earlier too, I desired to study further and hence there was conflict in my mind on how can I study further and who will help me.
During those days, Taiyari project was being run in our village by Bal Sansar Sanstha whose aim was to create awareness among the adolescent boys and girls and provide them knowledge related to education and their lifestyle improvement. Last year, I met one of the NGO worker and told him my situation, he then assured me that my dreams will be fulfilled. Some days later, they came to my home and tried to convince my father but he didn't agreed and said that he didn't want her daughter to study further.
Even after repeated attempts my father didn't agreed then the NGO worker gave him confidence that said that whatever will be the difficulty they will help in solving it. My father said that his daughter has become adult and hence she can't go alone to Kishangarh for taking exams. Then the NGO worker proposed a way that if some other girls or any other worker goes with her, my father agreed on this point. I was very happy at this moment but the problem was who will go with me. The NGO helped in this and arranged an Aganwadi worker to go with me for giving the exams. I felt that my dreams would soon become a reality.
When I filled Rajasthan State Open schooling form, some of the family members demoralized me saying that I would not pass the examination, but I assured my parents that I will pass with good scores. I studied with dedication and cleared the exam with good marks. I was so happy and decided that next year I will fill the form of open board
th thclass 12 exam. My family told me that I have passed 10 and hence I should be married but I faced my father and said that this is the age for my education and I will get married only after completing my education. The NGO always
thhelped me and even arranged for the books and fees for class 12 with the help from Toshniwal Industries. I have thfilled the form for class 12 from Open school in September 2014 and my family was also happy for me.
I would like to thank Bal Sansar Sanstha and all its workers for showing me right path, encouraging me, boosting my confidence and being a motivator.

“From One to Many”
Result : Rejoined studies; Motivated seven more girls for rejoining education
I am fifteen year old and my name is Firoza. I belong to village Bubani in Ajmer. My family is financial condition
is weak. My father is a farmer and agriculture that is the only source of earning for our family. Through my
story, I want to tell that how and with whose help, I have rejoined to studies.th
I appeared for 10 class in 2013 and the result was disappointing for me and my family. I was not able to pass the
exam. That day, I realized what did it meant to faile in an examination. I was not able to handle the situation. I was
continuously crying and the tears were not stopping from my eyes. My parents were trying hard to make me
understand and give me courage to handle the situation. My mind was unable to understand the situation because
there were different thoughts coming to my mind like I have to sit with my juniors and new students and they might
make fun of me. Apart from these thoughts, there was one more thought that was encircling my mind. My father's
poor financial condition might led him to take a tough decision of discontinuing my studies further. I handled myself
with the help of my family and friends.th
My friends asked my father to allow me to re appear for 10 class but he clearly said that he did not have money for
the fees and books. After hearing such words from my father, I thought that I will not be able to study further. I was in
deep thought that what will happen to my future. But there is a saying that if you wish something from your true
heart, then the almighty helps you. This saying became true for me and I thought of taking help from Bal
SansarSanstha who were running project Taiyari in our village. I remembered that they have helped female
students from financially weak background by providing them financial assistance for their studies.
This thought filled in new energy in my mind and heart. I met with the Taiyari officers and told them my story. They
met with my father and told them about the importance of Women Education. They also told my father that they will
financially help his daughter for her education. After this assurance, my father gave a nod to my studies. Along with
me, there were 7 other similar cases that came forward for their studies and the result was that we all asked for th
financial help from Bal SansarSanstha to complete 10 standard.
My friends and I are indebted to Bal SansarSanstha for helping us to complete our education. We also thank all the
NGO workers and M/s Toshniwal Industries for helping us in paying the examination fees. This has also led to the
creation of positive environment in our village. I can proudly say that we are Not one but Many.

“Fulfilling unmet dreams”
Result : Restarted education and filled class 12th form Open Schooling
thMy name is Sonu Maluka and I belong to village Babuni in Ajmer. I am 18 year old girl and have completed my 10
standard. We are 5 sisters and a brother. Although the family is big, but financial condition is very poor. My father
works in a stone mine and is the only single source of earning for our family.
thI left my education after completing 10 standard in 2012. There were various reasons for this move such as
unavailability of school for higher education in the village, weak financial condition of the family and high tuition fees
for studies. The only school which was available for higher education was 7 km far away from the village. My dream th
was to study till 12 class but because of the above reasons I was unable to do so. The biggest question in front of th
me was how to complete my 12 standard. How to fulfil my unfulfilled dreams? To get the answers for the above
questions, I talked with my brother and discussed on the above mentioned dilemma. During that period, my brother
has passed the examinations through open board. I thought of the same and filled the form for open board. I also
decided to prepare other female students in the village for further studies because it might get difficult for me to
travel alone to give the examinations.
The situation helped me because I was associated with the project Taiyari, funded by UNICEF, of Bal
SansarSanstha since 2013. I was regularly attended the monthly meetings of Project Taiyari and hence I talked
with the organization members on phone and explained them the entire scenario and asked them for the help. He
told me that he will understand the situation by coming to her home. In august 2014, the project members came to
my home and explained to my family the importance of women education. My parents told them about the weak
financial condition of the family. The Organization member told my parent that they will arrange the required
amount for the fee from some donor.
th thTaiyari Project has increased my self-confidence. On 8 August 2014, I filled my 12 examination form from Open
Board. I am very happy and thankful to Bal SansarSanstha for providing me an opportunity to restart my education.

My father was modest enough to ask me to reappear but I was aware of the financial situation of my family. How will my father arrange for the tuition fees and books was the question in my mind? With some
thconfidence in my heart, I went to school to re-join in 10 standard but my school rejected my application.
In spite of receiving a joit from the school, I handled myself and came back home. I was not willing to talk to anyone and was quiet for some days. This sudden change in my attitude gave tension to my parents. They began to think that I might take some wrong move in such a situation. They used to give me confidence and told me that there will be way out from this situation.
One of my friendsKiranKumawat came to know about my situation because she was living in the same colony. She th

I am Sajia Khan, aged 17 years and a resident of Village Gagwana, District Ajmer. My family consists of my
parents, one brother and three sisters. My family is economic condition is not good; my father works as a
laborer.thIn 2010, I left my studies after passing class 8 . Why I left studies, what happened thereafter all these questions will
be answered in this case story.
It is the matter of those days when I used to go to school for studies, the village boys used to tease me on the way to
the school and passed comments on me. When I told this incident to my family, then went to their homes and
explained them but they didn't oblige and kept on teasing me. When I tried to protest things became worse. My
family asked me to leave my education and I had to leave my studies.
After some days my family got me engaged, I requested them that I want to study further but they didn't listened to
me. I even told that I can have private tuition but they insisted on one point that they don't want me to study further,
they wanted me to get married soon. It is said that when God closes one door, it also opens hundred new
opportunities, the same happed true with me. The boy to whom I was engaged is an engineer, when he came to
know that I want to study further, he insisted his parents to allow me to continue my studies. I was very happy after
seeing such encouragement from my in-laws and thanked God for the same.
The other problem was that who will bear the expenses of my education; I started working in the Community Health
Centre as a part-time job. One day a Bal SansarSanstha worker was discussing with the doctor regarding Taiyari
Project. When they discussed about their initiative of re-joining of those girls to studies who have left studies, the
doctor called me and introduced to the NGO worker. It provided a hope to me to re-start my education. They also
ensured my father to arrange the fees and books for my studiesth
Thus the project showed me a way and I filled class 10 examination form from National Open School. Other girls of
the village also got resumed their studies and that boosted my morale to work hard to pass my public examination
successfully.

True Advice
Result : I took IFA tablets regularly and ate nutritious and healthy diet in improved HB levels and a
better health.
thMy name is Pooja Jangir and I am currently studying in class 10 in Deendayal Public School. Beside me and my
parents I have 2 brothers in my family. My father deals in furniture business. I am a resident of sohela village in Tonk
district which is situated on Jaipur –Kota National Highway No. 12.
Along with studies I am also associated with the Taiyari Project being run by Bal SansarSanstha and I am a member
of the Taiyari group. Before joining this project I didn't have knowledge about health related issues. I will share with
you my experience related to health issues and how Taiyari project has helped me.
I have been physically weak since childhood but some 2-3 months ago my condition deteriorated much, I got check
up from a doctor and got well but my physical wellness remained as is. During that time the NGO workers of Bal
SansarSanstha organized a hemoglobin check-up camp for all the girls of the Taiyari group. My hemoglobin
content came out to be only 7 gm on which the NGO workers highlighted to me the importance of hemoglobin in our
body and if the hemoglobin content in girls found out to be less than 10 gm then it is thought of as a sign of anemia
and iron tablets are referred in this case to increase hemoglobin content.
I was told that part from iron tablets along with a nutritious diet also helped in increasing hemoglobin content and for
this it was not required to buy expensive food from market instead the everyday food can be made nutritious to
increase hemoglobin in blood. The NGO workers then also met my parents and explained that a healthy diet will
help improvingmy HB levels and the overall health.
I heeded the advice of the NGO workers and took IFA tablets regularly and ate nutritious and healthy diet which has
helped in the recovery of my health.
Pooja says that the Taiyari project has taught her many things and would like to thank the Taiyari team for providing
health related information to me which helped me in choosing the right path for a healthy living.

Result : Enhanced social sensitivity. Acquired positive attitude honed counseling skills logic behind
these, supported by counseling and the action ahead; I adopted this and find a positive
change in my way of dealing with things.
I, Mukesh Kumar Yadav, teacher in Govternment Secondary School, Pyavari, Tonk district, met the District
Coordinator of Taiyari project in Pyavari School. My first appointment was in Pyavari School and I got to know a lot
about the Bal Sansar Sanstha.
As it was my first recruitment, I was enthusiastic to do something new and hence took keen interest in Taiyari
project and took detailed information about it. I saw some interesting activities were being done with the teens like
painting competition for preventing child marriage, essay competition on importance of girl education. At one place,
I saw teens making “My Wall” to highlight important issues and express their views about them.
Apart from these activities, one day I saw that the NGO workers took the adolescent girls of the “Samooh” to a
health centre situated in front of the school. The Ngo worker told me that the hemoglobin test of the girls will be
conducted today. At the health centre after the girls were tested IFA tablets were provided to them and they were
told about the importance of IFA tablets. When I heard the entire conversation I realized how important this project
is for adolescent boys and girls.
Witnessing the 'Taiyari' project activities has brought about a change in me. I noticed that before I was not paying
much attention during the distribution of IFA tablets but now whenever such a distribution takes place, Italk to the
guardians and explain them the importance of IFA tablets & healthy diet to the adolescents in their growing phase. I
have become more sensitive to the society and have gained a lot of respect from parents.

Freedom From Child Labour
Result : Changed out look to life. Quit work and joined schoolI am Lokesh Bairwa, son of Ramesh Bairwa, hailingfrom village Baroni, situated on the national highway-12 on the
thTonk road. Currently, I am studying in class 9 and I live with my uncle along with my mother and two elder sisters. I
lost my father at the age of 5 and my mother is taking care of me and my sisters by earning through labour work. My
mother was supporting my education, she wanted me to get good education; I was studying in the government
school of my village, but I lost interest in studies and left school. I started working as a daily wages in a cycle shop.During the same time, the NGO Bal Sansar Sanstha was doing some work in my village and their team visited my
school, contacted me and discussed about me and wanted to visit my home. They contacted my mother shared
about 'Taiyari' and inspired me to join the 'Taiyari Samooh' of my village, got my registration form filled up and I was
made a member of 'Taiyari Samooh'. I started attending the 'Taiyaree Samooh' meetings and the sessions.I was not very much interested in studies and was not able to pay much attention to my studies. Rather my
attraction was more towards earning and supporting to my family by helping my mother adding some money to run
the family. Therefore, during the summer vacation, I got interested in earning through daily wages and joined at a
bicycle repairing shop by quitting my school. The project team got to know about my quitting the school and contacted me again, invited me to the “Taiyari
Samooh meetings and motivated to continue with the group activities. During one of the sessions, the BSS team
talked about the issues of child labor and its adverse affects on the lives of the children engaged in the wage
earning at very young age and not being able to continue their studies. They did my counseling and explained the
disadvantages of child labor at this young age. I was very much touched by their arguments and the personal
counseling and decided to join my school back and continue with my studies.Influenced by 'Taiyari' educational sessions, I decided to quit the work which I started at the bicycle repairing shop
as a wage laborer and continue my schooling. This was a life changing movement for me and I understood the
importance of time and need for the right kind of investments to build my career and life as well as to be able to give
a stable quality of life to my family. Such was the influence of 'Taiyari' Project that not only I was able to understand the importance of education for
children and got back to my school. Now, I am very trying hard to focus on my education so that I can help myself
and my family in a long run. If 'Taiyari' project team would not have taken this initiative, I would have become a child
labor only, my studies would have been discontinued and my future would have been ruined. Thanks to the team 'Taiyari' for touching and changing my life!!
