Versatile & Performing

The result of twenty years of continuous innovation, BSI® is an ultra-high-performance fibre reinforced concrete with granular structure and formulation optimized in our laboratories. Its unrivalled performance, compressive strength - up to 250 MPa - makes it twice as hard as granite.

Hybrid concrete, its rigidity is high, with a modulus of 50GPa, but it is not fragile: the fibres included in its matrix give it a real tensile strength and give it a deformability behaviour known as hardening. Reinforcing bars become superfluous.

Its intrinsic properties are numerous.Its extreme fineness guarantees a faithful rendering of the textures. Its incomparable resistance to abrasion advocates it in exposed environments. Its total tightness to gases, water and ions brings it an exceptional durability. Its high robustness provides protection against impacts, shocks and bullets. Its specific formulation contributes to the preservation of resources.

WWI INTERNATIONAL MEMORIAL NOTRE-DAME-DE-LORETTE

Exceptional works of art

Ring of the First World War’s centenary memory, this pseudo elliptical caisson of 120 m in 3 spans, crosses up to 60 m, in cantilever of 10 m. Consisting of 49 reinforced segments of 3.45 mx 2.52 mx 0.80 m, some weighing nearly 10 t, the walls are only 10 cm thick.

Covering denitrification basins, these ultra-thin 5 cm thick S-shaped shells, 12 m long, are stiffened at the centre by a pre-stressed rib with a 24 x 24 cm section. Ultra-fine meshwork with 60% perforations, the finest elements of which are 25 x 60 mm by 3.5 m high, close the space of the basins.

Envelopes and Facades

811 panels in white BSI® dress up and protect the new school of arts of Carcassonne from the sun. Their very small thickness of only 4 cm, in addition to the die-forged patterns, allows for beautiful dimensions of 85 cm wide for heights ranging from 1.20 m up to 2.60 m.

On Jacques-Coeur Island, this mixed program of 32,000 m2 is finely dressed with a lace evoking a mantilla. The 3 patterns and 4 densities for each of them are made with 12 4m-long moulds adjusted to the size of the 816 balconies. Mostly decorative, even at 8 cm thick and with 50% voids, the balconies are structurally validated.

BRIDGE OF BUTHAUMONT ON THE ORNE

Build differently

These 266 blade-beams redefine the way of thinking structures. The fineness of an ornament, the robustness of a simple element, and the force of number, the attraction of this structure lies in the repetition. Combining light and structure, the performance of this museum demonstrates a new way of conceiving concrete in the 21st century.

For pre-stressed beams or post constraints arch stones, finesse and slenderness are the key words of projects. The BSI®’s palatability for compression makes it a key player in reducing cross-sections, weight and height. Associated with the usual techniques that they emphasize, the prefabricated elements guarantee quality and industrial precision to the structures.

ILLZACH BRIDGE

Structures Strengthening

Initially made of metal, the bridge of Illzach, with its old apron, was renovated and reinforced with BSI® thanks to the Orthodalle process. 5 cm thick pre-slabs, with welded mesh and connectors, are clasped to the studs of the original deck by in situ casting of fibre-reinforced concrete. Only a UHPFRC could bring such flexibility, speed and precision of execution.

The technical applications of the BSI® range from post lining for load increase and seismic protection, to channel bottom protection against abrasion (CNR index = 0.8) while still offering a small footprint and unique performances.

CLEMENCEAU PARKING

Underpinning of a building from the 60s. The challenge was to valorise a heritage that had no access from the street. The removed plain wall carrier is replaced transparently by a series of ultra-thin posts 12 cm thick for 3 meters high each carrying 120 tonnes. Made with fire-resistant formulation, they meet both technical and aesthetic requirements.

Singular Structures

Large spans and fineness are characteristic of BSI® structures. These blind are presented as open boxes on the underside which contain acoustic pads. The main wall is 5 cm thick when the lateral ribs make 10 to accommodate the prestress.
