Football Parents: Westside Football Club Gearing up for 2019

Parents of all Capital High football players are encouraged to participate in the Westside Football Club to help support the team as they work for another state championship and raise mon-ey for football gear and equipment.

Tailgate BBQ’s: The biggest fund raiser is the Tailgate BBQ held before each home game. For $7 a plate, fans can buy a meal which includes a hamburger or hotdog, chips, salads, dessert and drink. Club members participate by cooking the food, bringing desserts and salads and helping serve. The BBQ is held near the bleachers on the home team side of Vigilante Stadium. Information will be provided as we get closer to the season. Any help you can offer either by bringing a salad or dessert or helping serve at any of the BBQ’s will be appreciated.

Quarterback Club: All football parents are also invited to attend the Quarterback Club; a weekly meeting led by coach Mihelish and his staff. Join the group at the Lewis and Clark Brewery upstairs in the Power Room at 6:30 pm every Tuesday for a recap of the game, complete with com-mentary and video clips of the Varsity game. Join us for the insight into the previous week’s game and a preview of the upcoming game.

Committees: There are several Committees that need volunteers. Committees include: Pre-Game Tailgate BBQ; Web Page, Thursday Chalk Talk Treats; Bus Treats; Stadium Flags, Signs and Bears; Senior Night; Touch Down Club Fundraiser; Football Banquet planning; Memory Book; Memory Video; Gifts/Seniors & Coaches; Gifts/Juniors; Quarterback Club; and Football Poster.

Brown & Gold Game: Mark your calendar for the Capital High Brown & Gold game where we all get to see a sneak preview of the offense and defense as they face off Friday, August 23rd at Vigilante Stadium at 5: 00 pm. There will be a BBQ at the CHS practice field following the game. The club is gathering email addresses for all parents or guardians of football players. If you have not yet received an email regarding the Westside Football Club or if you have questions, please contact Westside Football at [email protected].

Bruin Football Online: Westside Football partners with Bruin Football to provide immediate information or donating opportunities regarding Bruin football in two ways. Bruinfootball.net and Helena Capital Bruin Football on Facebook. Check them both out for details. The Westside Football Club is a nonprofit 501c3 organization. A $25 membership fee per person is recommended but not required to participate. Membership fee gets you notified first of news and information regarding Bruin football along with voting rights on how Westside Football Club purchases equipment for the program.

Dress For School With the start of school, summer clothes need to be left at home and school appropriate clothes

need to be worn.

Thank you!

HELENA SCHOOL DISTRICT #1

CAPITAL HIGH SCHOOL

HELENA, MT 59604

CAPITAL HIGH SCHOOL

August Newsletter

Dear Capital High Community- Welcome back to another school year at Capital High School! The start of a school year is of course hectic and exciting at the same time. As we approach the new academic year, I would like to stress the importance of students getting involved at CHS. For almost all curricular areas/pathways found at CHS, “there is a club for that!” Students- be sure to make decisions this year that will prepare you for whatever options you pursue after high school. As a staff, we will continue to focus on mak-ing certain that all graduates are both college and career ready. To help meet such a lofty goal, we will continue to use the PLC (Professional Learning Community) process where staff collaboration will equate to a focus on student learning in light of the Montana State Standards. PLC time will occur once again each Monday afternoon this year, meaning we will continue with an early release schedule every Monday afternoon. Capital High, along with the rest of the district, will continue to focus on the same three goals. Our students will be:

- Engaged in their own learning

- Challenged academically in all disciplines with strong foundations in literacy and math

- Graduates who are college and career ready

Beyond a focus on academics and getting involved, I would like to stress regular attendance as it is vital to success in not only courses for this year, but to assist in forming strong work-ethic skills that will be important in students’ futures. Be sure to take advantage of all of the opportunities found at Capital High School! Have a fantastic school year!

Respectfully,

Brett Zanto
