Brown Jr PS and Deer Park Jr & Sr PS PART – Meeting #1

Setting the Context – why are we here?

• TDSB’s Long-Term Program and Accommodation Strategy (LTPAS), first approved in 2014 (and updated annually), identifies a number of studies to be undertaken to resolve existing and future accommodation pressures in the mid-town area.

• The Yonge-Eglinton Program Area Review was undertaken and completed in the Fall/Winter of 2015.

• The Whitney, Rosedale, and Deer Park Program Area Review concluded in the Fall of 2016.

• The following 2 studies were grouped together into a single Local Feasibility Team exercise: • Boundary Change Study: Explore a boundary change review to address overutilization at Brown

Jr PS, which is situated on a constrained school site. This review will examine a boundary change with Cottingham Jr PS.

• Boundary Change Study: Explore a boundary change review involving Deer Park Jr & Sr PS and Jesse Ketchum Jr & Sr PS to establish an appropriate middle school pathway for Cottingham Jr PS. Note that this review will coincide with the boundary change study of Brown Jr PS and Cottingham Jr PS.

• The Local Feasibility Team explored a number of different scenarios to address the current and projected accommodation pressures at Brown Jr PS.
