1. HEUTE SHOOTEN WIR DAS BROADWAY NYC FASHION LOOKBOOK FÜR DEN WINTER. WELCHE STYLES GEFALLEN DIR AM BESTEN?Bisher eigentlich alle (lacht). Mir ge-fallen sportliche Sachen, die sich viel-seitig kombinieren lassen. Den Blazer mit Collegekragen mag ich sehr, er ist schmal geschnitten und trotzdem läs-sig. Auch die Hosen von BROADWAY NYC FASHION MAN haben immer eine super Passform, mein Favorit: die verwaschene Jeans in Anthrazit. Und der Dufflecoat-Mantel, er ist klassisch und hat Stil. Genau mein Ding!

2. WAS SIND DEINE LIEBLINGSTRENDS FÜR DEN WINTER? Ich mag es gerne lässig und unkompli-ziert, und finde, dass die neuen Bomber- und Collegejacken gut zu mir passen. Die kombiniere ich jetzt mit Jeans und Sneaker-Boots.

3. DU LEBST IN ST. GALLEN IN DER SCHWEIZ - WAS SIND DEINE PERSÖNLICHEN HOTSPOTS UND GEHEIMTIPPS?Ich wohne seit fünf Jahren dort, denn meine Freundin ist Schweizerin. Die Natur ist wie für mich gemacht, um beim Wandern in den Bergen vom All-tag abzuschalten. Als Kontrastpro-gramm dazu fahre ich oft nach Zürich, die Musikszene ist unglaublich gut und vielfältig. Und ich gehe dann in die ver-schiedenen House-Clubs der Stadt.

4. DU BIST EIN UNKOMPLIZIERTER, SPONTANER TYP. GIBT ES TROTZDEM DINGE, AUF DIE DU NICHT VERZICHTEN KANNST?Ja, unbedingt. Das sind meine Sportsa-chen, die kommen immer mit. T-Shirts und Longsleeves in allen Variationen, Jeans im Destroyed Look, Sneaker, mein Smartphone und dann bin ich auch schon reisefertig.

5. ALS VIEL GEBUCHTES MODEL BIST DU STÄNDIG IN ALLER WELT UNTERWEGS, HAST DU EIN LIEB-LINGSZIEL?Ja! Das ist definitiv Kapstadt. Es ist eine spannende Stadt voller Gegensätze und ich mag die Leute, die Natur, das Wetter und die Sportkultur, die ein bisschen so ist wie in Los Angeles. Es gibt dort viele unberührte, paradiesische Orte und ich freue mich jedes Mal riesig, wenn ich dorthin gebucht werde.

6. DU BIST SEHR SPORTLICH. WIE TRAINIERST DU UND HAST DU EINEN SPEZIELLEN ERNÄHRUNGS-

PLAN, UM FIT ZU BLEIBEN?Ich mache viel Krafttraining und spiele seit meiner Kindheit Fußball, was ein toller Ausgleich ist und die Ausdauer fördert. Eine bestimmte Diät gibt es nicht, ich halte mich einfach an eine be-stimmte Kalorienzufuhr und esse haupt-sächlich natürliche Nahrungsmittel und jede Menge Obst und Gemüse.

7. WAS MACHST DU, WENN DU NICHT VOR DER KAMERA STEHST? WO SIEHST DICH IN EIN PAAR JAHREN? Die letzten 10 Jahre habe ich haupt-sächlich gemodelt, habe währenddessen aber immer konsequent mein Studium verfolgt. Seit meinem Studienabschluss in Wirtschaftsinformatik arbeite ich in der SAP-Abteilung einer großen Firma. Obwohl es ein Fulltimejob ist, habe ich die Zeit zum Modeln und Reisen. Für diese Freiheit bin sehr dankbar und möchte im Moment, dass alles so bleibt, wie es ist.

8. WAS MAGST DU AM WINTER BESONDERS?Ich fahre seit meiner Kindheit Ski und seit 9 Jahren Snowboard. Jedes Jahr buche ich mit Freunden eine Skihütte in den Dolomiten. Im Februar ist es wieder so-weit - für ist mich es das Highlight des Winters!

1. TODAY WE’RE SHOOTING THE BROADWAY NYC FASHION WINTER LOOKBOOK. WHICH STYLES DO YOU LIKE BEST?So far, I like them all (laughs). I like casual outfits that can be combined easily. I love the blazer with the col-lege collar, it’s both smart and casual at the same time. BROADWAY NYC FA SHION MAN trousers always have the perfect fit, too. My favourite piece has to be the washed-out anthracite denims. And the duffle coat – it’s both classic and stylish. Just what I need!

2. WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE WINTER TRENDS? I like casual and easygoing and I think the new bomber and college jackets will probably suit me fine. I’m going to try combining them with jeans and sneaker boots.

3. YOU LIVE IN ST. GALLEN, IN SWITZERLAND – WILL YOU GIVE US SOME OF YOUR PERSONAL HOTSPOTS AND INSIDER’S TIPS?I’ve lived there for 5 years because my

partner is Swiss. The landscape in Swit-zerland is ideal for hiking in the moun-tains and that’s how I unwind. On the other hand, Zurich is not too far away. I often go there to get my kicks, the music scene there is amazing and very diverse. I like going to the city’s house clubs.

4. ALTHOUGH YOU’RE FAIRLY UNCOMPLICATED AND SPONTANEOUS, IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN’T DO WITHOUT?Yes, definitely. My sports gear, I always take that with me. Tees and longsleeves, in all variations, destroyed-look denims, sneakers, my smartphone, and I’m rea-dy to go.

5. AS A SOUGHT-AFTER MODEL, YOU’RE ALWAYS TRAVELING ALL OVER THE WORLD, IS THERE ANYWHERE YOU PARTICULARLY LIKE GOING? Yes! It has to be Cape Town. It’s such an exciting city, so full of contrasts and I like the nature and the people, the weather and the sports culture that’s a bit like Los Angeles. There are many so pristine spots and each time I’m booked for a job out there, I get really excited.

6. YOU’RE VERY ATHLETIC. HOW DO YOU EXER-CISE AND DO YOU STICK TO A DIET TO KEEP FIT? I do a lot of weights and I’ve been play-ing football since I was a kid, so that’s a good combination. There’s no specific diet, I just watch my calorie intake, stick to natural foods and eat a lot of fruit and veg.

7. WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT IN FRONT OF A CAMERA? WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN A COUPLE OF YEARS? For the past 10 years, I’ve mainly been working as a model, but I also consis-tently kept up with my studies. Since I graduated in business information sys-tems, I’ve been working in the SAP de-partment of a large company. Although it’s actually a full-time job, it leaves me time to work as a model and travel. I’m very grateful for the freedom I have and want everything to stay the way it is.

8. WHAT DO YOU ESPECIALLY LIKE ABOUT THE WINTER? I’ve been skiing since I was a kid and snowboarding for the past 9 years. Every year, I book a cabin in the Do-lomites with my friends. We’re going again in February – for me, that’s the winter’s highlight!

1. WIE BIST DU ZUR FOTOGRAFIE GEKOMMEN?Wie fast alle: über Umwege. Schon als Kind hab ich viel ausprobiert und selbst entwickelt, damals noch im Keller. Nach der Schule hab ich erstmal Archi-tektur studiert. Und irgendwann bin ich wieder zur Fotografie gewechselt. Sie ist einfach meine Leidenschaft und wächst permanent weiter. 2. DU BIST SPEZIALISIERT AUF PEOPLE UND FASHION. WELCHEN REIZ ÜBEN DIESE BEREICHE AUF DICH AUS? Mit der Peoplefotografie kann ich gut Emotionalität ausdrücken. Ähnlich ist es mit Fashion. Hier geht es mir aber nicht um Schönheit oder Perfektion. Im Gegenteil. Spannend werden die Bilder, wenn man den Reiz in den „Fehlern“, im „Rohen“, im „Spontanen“ sucht. DAS sind die magischen Momente, die ein wirklich gutes Foto ausmachen. Ich verlass mich da auf meine Intuition, auch, was Locations, Styling und Mo-dels betrifft. Und bisher lag ich nie da-neben. 3. WIE BESCHREIBST DU DEINEN FOTO-STIL? Klassisch, einfach, aber auch emotional und spontan.

4. WANN IST DEINER MEINUNG NACH EIN FOTO HERVORRAGEND?Es muss Emotionen transportieren. Es muss berühren und bewegen. 5. ÜBERLÄSST DU BEIM ARBEITEN AUCH VIEL DEM ZUFALL? Irgendwie schon. Auch, wenn man ver-sucht, alles zu planen, passieren mal un-vorhersehbare Dinge. Die sind aber oft zuträglich für ein gutes Bild! Man muss für diese Momente offen sein und sie einfach mitnehmen. 6. WAS LIEBST DU AN DEINER ARBEIT? UND AUF WAS KÖNNTEST DU GUT VERZICHTEN?Ich finde es faszinierend, wie komplex Fotografie ist. Ich sehe sie auch nicht als Arbeit, sondern als Teil des Lebens. Stän-dig fallen mir Bilder, Szenen, Ideen, Ein-drücke ins Auge. Diese Eindrücke versu-che ich, in guten Bildern auf den Punkt zu bringen. Diese Art der Arbeit macht mir Spaß und befriedigt mich total.

HIS MOTTO COULD BE DESCRIBED WITH THE FOLLOWING PHRASE: “DO IT WITH LOVE AND KEEP IT SIMPLE”. SVEN AVOIDS EX-AGGERATED STYLING AND CLUTTER. INSTEAD, HE FOCUSES ON THE FASHION. EXTREMELY PURIST, EMOTIONAL, CLEAR AND FULL OF LIFE. HE SIM-PLY ENJOYS HIS WORK. WE SPOKE TO HIM:

1. SO, HOW DID YOU BECOME A PHOTOGRAPHER? The same as nearly everyone else: by chance. As a kid, I tried a lot of things myself, developing stuff in the basement and so on. After school, I studied archi-tecture. And then a while later I went

back to taking pictures. Photography’s my passion and never stops evolving. 2. YOU SPECIALISE IN PEOPLE AND FASHION. WHAT ATTRACTS YOU TO THESE AREAS? Taking photos of people allows me to express emotions. For fashion, it’s quite the same. Though I’m not interested in beauty or perfection. On the contrary. Searching for the “mistakes”, “raw-ness” or “spontaneity” often triggers the buzz that intriguing images need. THOSE are the magical moments that create a really good picture. Choosing locations, styling or models depends largely upon intuition. And so far that’s worked really well for me.3. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PHOTO- STYLE? Classic and simple, but also emotional and spontaneous. 4. IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT MAKES A PHOTO-GRAPH OUTSTANDING?It should transfer emotions. It has to touch and move me. 5. DO YOU LEAVE A LOT TO CHANCE WHEN YOU’RE AT WORK? I guess I do, in a way. Even though you try to anticipate and plan everything, sometimes unexpected things happen anyway. But often they’re the things a good picture needs! You should open up to these moments and catch them seren-dipitously.6. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR WORK? AND WHAT COULD YOU DO WITHOUT? I find the complexity of photography very fascinating. Actually, I don’t define it as work, just as a part of life. Pictures, scenes, ideas and impressions are forever popping up, wherever I go. I try to condense these impressions and translate them into good pictures. I love this kind of work and find great satisfaction in it.
