For SIB SIDERAL it has always been strategical to increase the range of products to offer to the market. Because of this now, beside broaching tools,

we propose a new broaching machine, Challenge.

The name we give it, “CHALLENGE”, expresses well which is our approach. Obviously we know that we are joining a market can be satisfied also without the new SIB SIDERAL broaching machine, but we believe that what we want to offer is a product with high technical characteristics, to content all the aspects of our customers.

ARCHITECTURE “Conventional” broaching machine can be found in the market. Their characteristic is having an ‘ad hoc’ pit (made in reinforced concrete) that contains the lower part of the machine. We opted for a “on floor” solution, where there isn’t the need of creating the pit, so the machine develops itself in highness. However the “charging-descharging” location (for the operator) is located at about 1 mt from the ground, to satisfy the ergonomical and safety requests. Ultimately in the conventional broaching machine the broach moves and the item stays still, while in our machine the piece moves and the broach stays still.

Mechanics:

Structured welding items – main bed, mounted (DX, SX and posterior),

superior cover, lifting-broach chariot and main chariot 3 cylindrical guides, on which 9 circular linear bearing flow (3 for the

lifting-broach chariot and 6 for the main chariot) 2 hydraulic cylinders that move the main chariot, equipped of position

trasducers assembled inside 1 cylinder for the lifting-broach chariot, equipped with position

1 main hydraulic pump for the main chariot at variable flow with

adjustable valve of pressure, electronically controlled 1 hydraulic pump at variable flow with adjustable valve of pressure,

electronically controlled, for all the other uses 3 hydraulic servovalves for the regulation of the cylinders movements,

both in position and speed 2 pumps, located in the tub of the refrigerator, for the lubrication of the

item during broaching and for the continue washing of the machine from the chips

Other hydraulic material (pipes, solenoids ON/OFF, filters, gauges, tubs and thermometers)

All the hydraulic material is provided from DUPLOMATIC The refrigerant tub inserted in the basic version of the machine has 2

easy and functional tubs for the gathering and the removal of the chips. Any other solutions as carrying tapes, has to be tested and valued aside

Electric/electronic part:

An industrial PC for the control and the managing of the sistem 3 cards connected to the PC by profibus, for the control of the hydraulic

servovalves 4 cards connected to the PC by profibus, for the managing of the

input/output Other electrical material (cabin, tranformers, relays, breakers)

SOFTWARE

Software has beeen entirely developed inside SIB SIDERAL and, besides managing live all the functions of the machine, it takes into account well determined objectives, which are:

Highest easiness of use, both for manual and automatic movements Highest respect for the mounted tool trough:

o Auto-learning of the tools’ dimensions all the times it is replaced in the machine

o Pressure regulator and so load/effort that the working machine can apply to the tool itself

o Analysis at every item of the effort needed from the tool, referred to a sample cycle, in order to keep control the usury of the cutting edge and maybe suggest the possible resharpening

Highest respect of the security standards Easyness to extend function afterwards

Practically 3 well distincted maps/worlds exist can be activated from SOFT-KEY Existing broaches database, with the indication of dimensional data and

maximum admitted load, for each broach “Manual world” with all the SOFT-KEY, useful to move individually all

the various parts of the machine (differently coloured) for its the setup. In fact only with all the SOFT-KEY coloured in green you can pass to the “Automatic world”

“Automatic world”, where you can insert the working speed and let the complete automatic circle begin. A very clear graphic displays the machine effort in each moment of the broaching movement
