Staying in education and training after Year 11
Do I have to stay on at school?
All young people are required to stay in education or training until their 18th birthday. This is so that every young person gains the right knowledge and skills to move on to a successful career.
What are my options?
You can choose from full-time education at school or college, an Apprenticeship, a Traineeship, full-time work or volunteering (which is defined as 20 hours or more a week) combined with part-time education or training.
Getting supportIf you are still at school, you should meet with your careers advisor who will provide you with independent advice and guidance about all the post-16 options in your area. You should also speak to your tutors and other staff in school who know you well. They will advise you about the options that fit with your interests and abilities.
You can also contact:
l A qualified careers adviser at the National Careers Service on 0800 100 900 or webchat on-line for impartial advice and support tailored to your needs at nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk
Or look on:
l ‘‘Careerpilot’ is a great source of local information and advice at careerpilot.org.uk
l ‘Plotr’ offers information on different employment sectors at plotr.co.uk
If you have special educational needs or receive additional support at school then you should also speak to your school’s special educational needs co-ordinator who will advise you about your next step.
Before you make a decision about your next step here are some questions to ask yourself:
l What am I good at?
l How well do I expect to do in Year 11?
l What are my interests?
l What skills do I have?
l What do I like doing?
When considering a particular qualification or programme to follow next year, ask yourself:
What is it?What is the qualification (eg A Level, GCSE, BTEC)?
Is it at the right level for me?
What is the subject? Will it help me do the things I want to do in the future?
What is the progression from this qualification (eg is there something similar available at the next level)?
Is it something that I enjoy and I’m good at?
Am I prepared to put in the hard work to get a good Grade?
What will the subject actually cover?
How will I learn?
Will there be lots of practical sessions, hands-on work, essays?
Will my learning be assessed through exams, portfolio or on the job?
Where will I learn? In a classroom, in a lab, in the workplace?
At a school sixth form, at a sixth form college, at a further education college, with a work-based training provider?
6
Why should I study for this qualification?Does it fit with my other choices and complement them?
Will this course help me to develop skills for the future?
Am I eligible?Do I need particular qualifications to be allowed to study at a particular institution?
Am I likely to achieve the right Grades to get onto the course?
Apprenticeships and Traineeships
With an apprenticeship you can enter employment and start building a career from the age of 16. As an apprentice you will work for an employer, earning a wage and developing job specific skills. Most of the training is delivered in the workplace and you will also be supported by a specialist learning provider to study towards a nationally recognised qualification. This could be with a training provider or a college. Find out more at www.gov.uk/apply-apprenticeship or visit amazingapprenticeships.com/ for impartial and independent advice on this and much more, including our live apprenticeship vacancies map.
A Traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience. It provides the essential work preparation training, English, maths and a work experience placement needed to move on to secure an apprenticeship or employment.
Education and Training
The pathway you choose will be based on the following:
l What GCSE Grades you achieve
l How you like to learn
l What you want to do in the future (remember you are likely to change jobs many times in your working life).
Remember that if you do not get a Grade 4 in maths and/or English GCSE in the summer then you will need to continue studying until you get the equivalent of a Grade 4 in these subjects. This option will be available to you at your school, college or training provider so please ask for information.
7
Nine things you should know about 9 to 1 GCSE grades
9 GCSE’s in England have been reformed and have started being graded with a new scale from 9 to 1, with 9 being the highest grade.
8 New GCSE content will be more challenging
7 Fewer grade 9s will be awarded that A*s
6 Students sat the new exams in English language, English literature and maths.
5All other subject are being phased in until 2020. To see the timetable please visit the Get the facts: GCSE reform government webpage. During this transition, students will receive a mixture of letter and number
4The new grades are being brought in to signal that GCSEs have been reformed and to better differentiate between students of different abilities.
3In the first year each new GCSE subject is introduced, broadly the same proportion of students will get grades 1, 4 and 7 and above as would have got Grades G, C and A and above respectively in the old system.
2 Regulators in Wales and Northern Ireland are not introducing the new 9 to 1 grading scale as part of the changes to GCSEs in their jurisdictions.
1 You can see how the 9 to 1 grades compare with the A* to G scale in the infographic.

Excellent UCAS support systems ensure our students make successful applications to their chosen universities. Equally, we have programmes that develop employability skills, helping our students gain access to employment and higher level apprenticeships. As well as supporting students with special educational needs on level 3 programmes, we run a small, fully integrated Level 1 study programme that caters for the needs of up to 10 students with significant learning needs.

Claremont is a school in North Bristol catering for children and young people with physical disabilities and a range of additional and/or associated learning needs, sensory impairment and health needs, aged 2 to 19 years. The DfE designation is PD/SLD/PMLD.
The school is split site with the Primary school based in Henleaze on a campus with Henleaze Infant and Henleaze Junior Schools and the secondary school is in Redland and is co-located with Redland Green Secondary School (RGS).
We are one school with one ethos. We believe that everyone is entitled to ’Enjoy Learning for Living‘ and foster a love of lifelong learning through creating a supportive, vibrant and innovative environment. We believe that by combining our talents and abilities we can create something greater together.
The vast majority of pupils have SLCN with very few students having any functional speech. High proportions are high tech VOCA users including some who are eye gaze users.
Around a third of pupils on role are registered with Lifetime Nursing Services and have a range of complex health needs including tracheotomies and permanent ventilation.
Two thirds of pupils have gastrostomies. The majority of children have highly complex health needs.
The majority of pupils on roll have additional sensory impairments with some having multi-sensory impairment (MSI), around half with visual impairment and some with hearing impairment.
Due to the high level and complexity of need across the school we provide a high level of nursing and therapy input to meet need.
Some children attend on a part time basis due to health issues and this is agreed formally with the school through a Home School Attendance Agreement.
Attendance is on average 84% a year.
Claremont takes its pupils from all across the City of Bristol and from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds.
Around 30% are from neighbouring local authorities of South Gloucestershire, BANES and North Somerset.
General entry requirements:
There are currently two needs types of children at Claremont.
l children with physical impairments and associated or additional moderate/severe learning difficulties or speech, language and communication needs - PI and (M)SLD / SLCN
l children with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties - PI and PMLD
All the children have complex needs, including sensory impairment and/or medical/health needs. When children are referred to Claremont School by the LA, their needs as identified within the Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) are compared with the admissions criteria in the school policy and they are then considered for placement.

The aim of the course is to help students prepare towards either an appropriate College course or enter into the world of work.

The bungalow enables students to thrive in a calm and quiet environment whilst giving them the opportunity to practise every day life skills such as cooking, cleaning and gardening.
The course enables Henbury staff to deliver a personalised learning programme which is able to adjust and react to the changing needs of the students as well as enable staff to take advantage of many opportunities within the wider community which help develop important life skills for our students.

The Vocational Centre, known as the VC is home to our Post 16 Learners. We also have two separate Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (LDD) classes; Swift and Owl. The Birds Nest Café, a learner-led enterprise is situated in the VC. When learners at New Fosseway transition into Post 16 they will be offered a wider variety of opportunities. This may be within their classroom environment, in the main building, the Vocational Centre or out in the community. The focus of the learner’s learning will become more functional and will develop the skills that prepare them for adulthood.
Where appropriate learners will continue and complete accreditation already started in Key stage 4. Post 16 learners may achieve accreditation through a variety of routes including EQUALS, ASDAN Personal Progress and Employability, as well as BTEC level 1 awards (in partnership with The Park at Knowle) in a variety of vocational courses such as construction, childcare, animal care and sports coaching.
The majority of learners take part in RE activities that are intended to enrich their education. Post 16 learners are guided through the challenges that they may face in dealing with Sex and Relationship Education (SRE). The school offers tailored advice for both learners and families, to help guide them all through this challenging part of growing up. Where appropriate learners
will attend transition and employability events and will undertake work experience, which is designed to take into account their personal interests and aspirations.
The majority of learners select the type of work experience they will undertake from a wide range. Depending on the individual it may be a placement within school or a placement out in the community. Previous placements have included in school admin and catering, Brandon Trust, Premier Inn, Lush, Bristol Rugby, Flamingo Chicks, Bristol Zoo, Hartcliffe Nursing Home and Barber Brown Hair Salon. Learners are encouraged to develop their knowledge and understanding of skills for work including teamwork, attendance, appearance and punctuality. We run The Bird’s Nest Café, a learner-led enterprise, where students have real-life opportunities to develop skills within the workplace.
All Post 16 learners access community facilities including local shops, local and central libraries, The Park Centre, The Gate House and Hartcliffe Farm. Learners use public transport as part of a structured travel training programme to access these facilities. All Post 16 learners are well prepared for transition to the next stage of their lives through careful planning with families, colleges and social and health care providers. All learners and their families are supported through the Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process. After the learner moves on from New Fosseway, we make regular checks on their progress to ensure we fully support each transition.

In addition, the Extended Project Qualification is available for those who seek to stand out and compete favourably with the best when applying to well-established universities.

Bath College’s Foundation Programmes are designed to meet a range of needs for learners with SEND, SEMH or other barriers to their learning. Learners are generally 16-19 years old without an EHCP and 16-25 years old with one.
Pathways for Adulthood Programme
From September 2018 there is provision for learners who are pre entry level at our new SEND Centre at the Somer Valley Campus. These learners will follow a curriculum designed around Pathways for Adulthood and making good choices for their lives.
Group size is kept to a maximum of six and each class is supported by a member of the Support Team. Extra support is available outside of lesson time, which includes meeting to and from transport, lunchtime and breaks.
The Life and Independent Living Skills
The Life and Independent Living Skills (LILS) programme is designed for SEND Learners and offered at Entry 1, Entry 2 and Entry 3 levels. Learners are assessed before joining the college and are able to progress through the levels for up to three years, if appropriate. The curriculum for the LILS programme focuses on the ‘Preparations for Adulthood’ agenda, which aims to equip young people with SEND with the skills they need as they move into their adult lives.
The programme promotes independence wherever possible with a greater focus on tracking progress for all sorts of skills (not just English and Maths) as students learn. The curriculum is also informed by work with the Speech and Language Therapist, seeking to embed essential communication strategies into the projects the students will undertake.
Group size is kept to a maximum of eight and each class is supported by a member of the Inclusion Team. Extra support is available outside of lesson time, which includes lunchtime and breaks. This course can be used as a progression route to Step Up or Project SEARCH. (see below)
Step Up is a programme offered at Entry 3/Level and is designed to help young people develop skills through emotional, social and educational support and development to progress to other levels of programmes. Students undertake a wide range of activities including volunteering, cookery and sport. Students are likely to have left school with ‘spikey’ profiles meaning they may have far greater levels of ability in some areas than others. We develop individual learning plans with some learners, so that some students may be re-taking GCSEs while others are working on lower levels of literacy and numeracy. Each class is supported by a member of the Inclusion Team.
Pathways is a year-long, standalone course that can also be taken after completing the Step Up course. It is aimed at young people who are unsure of what they would like to do for a career, how to move into employment, or who need more time to develop their confidence in the learning and practical skills. The course offers the chance to gain experience in different areas as students undertake rotations in different areas throughout the year, as well as improving English and maths, IT and employment skills. Possible progression upon
Other colleges and specialist schools in the local area
completing Pathways would include moving onto L1/L2 programmes or employment. Support is also given to students who have additional needs.
Project SEARCH is a supported internship programme to help young people with learning difficulties or disabilities secure and keep paid permanent jobs. It is a unique, business-led, one-year, college-to-work programme that takes place entirely at the workplace. Total workplace immersion facilitates a seamless combination of classroom instruction, career exploration, and relevant job-skills training through strategically designed internships. Project SEARCH is delivered as a partnership between the college, B&NES Council and Virgin Care.
Supported Routes to Employment (SuRE)
The SuRE Programme has been devised to offer supported internship opportunities for young people with special education needs and disability (SEND) for whom Project SEARCH is not appropriate. The aim of the programme is to help people find, get and keep internships, traineeships and/or apprenticeships and ultimately secure paid employment.
Wider College
Beyond the Foundation Department, Bath College has a wide variety of study programmes and opportunities available from Entry levels right up to Higher Education (HE) with a range of bespoke support packages for learners with an EHCP. These include work-based learning opportunities that includes the Traineeship Programme (which consists of a 6-month work experience placement with time at college to brush up employability skills, work on English and Maths and build confidence) along with Apprenticeships at several levels.

At South Gloucestershire and Stroud College (SGS), we strive to provide clear, high-quality professional and technical routes into apprenticeships, employment and self-employment as well as to Further and Higher Education alongside robust academic routes. To support progression, we provide high-quality career pathways in each of our departments through Intermediate, Technical, Academic, Higher and Professional qualifications.
Our full-time study programmes combine knowledge, skills, support, challenge and a set of attributes that help deliver confident, articulate and professional learners who are ready and able to progress. Learners typically attend college for 3–4 days per week. SGS learners will have a competitive advantage in the workplace due to our approach in ensuring learners are work-ready. Our study programmes include: Academic/Vocational qualification of study (e.g. First Diploma Sport, A Levels), Maths and English (either Functional Skills, GCSE resits or upskilling), work experience/placements, enrichment and tutorials. In addition, our study programmes develop the softer skills such as the ability to communicate effectively and to be confident and articulate individuals and for students to apply themselves to a task and to work effectively as team members.
All learners at the College are supported to achieve their goals. Applicants are required to disclose information about any additional learning support needs they may have. Should you have any additional support needs due to a physical impairment, learning difficulty and/or mental health issues let us know so that we can make reasonable adjustments and provide extra support. Our Learning Support Co-ordinators work with learners, their families and carers to arrange support.
Ways in which we can help:
l Liaise with outside agencies
l Provide support in the classroom
l Provide specialist equipment and assistive technology to help you study.
SGS has a variety of support mechanisms and services available. The SGS Total Support Guarantee provides timely, accessible and consistent support for learners with SEN, barriers to education and those learners who are at risk of not achieving or progressing for a variety of reasons. It ensures all college staff are able to spot early warning signs and identify appropriate support options.
Examples of additional support at SGS include

For students with EHCPs we will plan support through liaison with learners, parents/ carers, staff and the local authority in conjunction with information gathered from external agencies and/or previous educational establishments. We will coordinate the annual review of your EHCP and ensure that your voice is heard at multi-agency meetings.
Each curriculum area has a designated Learning Mentor who is available to learners. Learning Mentors work collaboratively with tutors, other relevant staff and agencies, and learners to develop and implement agreed pastoral improvement and support plans in order to facilitate learner progress and achievement.
SGS has a robust support network for all Young Carers, In Care and Care leavers. Young Carers voices will be listened to and peer support groups are available to access at the request of the young person. In addition to the support outlined above, the Learning Mentor will coordinate multi-agency meetings and PEPs for students who are in care or care leavers, as well as provide targeted advice and support.
All full-time learners have a tutor with whom they can discuss academic or pastoral issues and through the Total Support Guarantee, tutors can refer learners to a variety of support mechanisms at the college. Learners can also self-refer to the Learning Mentor team, or the Counselling service who can signpost or refer you to external agencies for further support if required.
Tutors ensure that the teaching and learning methods used are accessible by adjusting or
differentiating them as appropriate. They will liaise with Learning Support Workers to ensure that support is targeted, effective and has impact on the learner’s experience and achievement.
Foundation (Entry Level) learners receive additional tutorial time with their personal tutor to discuss academic and pastoral issues. Within the Entry Level provision this is very closely monitored and supported by curriculum staff and the Learning Support department.

boomsatsuma is a leading post-16 education provider for aspiring creatives in the South West. Our mission is to fuel the next creative generation by offering A-Level equivalent qualifications through project-based learning, delivered alongside some of the most impressive creative professionals in the UK. With more than three hundred students across ten centres, boomsatsuma provides both Media Production Diplomas and a Professional Acting Diploma. From 2019 we will also offer a Dance Theatre Diploma and a Stage and Screen Production Diploma. We pride ourselves on being connected to the creative industry and many of our students benefit from carrying out their qualifications in professional workplaces.
boomsatsuma’s Media Production Diplomas are housed in diverse venues across the city, such as the Engine Shed, the Curzon Cinema in Clevedon and even The Bottleyard Studios, which is a national and prestigious TV and Film studio. A specialist Sports Media Production Diploma is also offered at Ashton Gate with Bristol City Football Club. Additionally, we
run a Media Production Diploma at the Digitech Studio School, a specialist school for young people interested in creative digital and high tech sectors. The students on all the Media Production Diplomas benefit from developing their understanding of film, sound, photography, graphic design and print media all within excellent facilities, including access to professional standard production equipment.
Our unique Professional Acting Diploma is taught at The Station in Bristol City Centre. Developed in association with the conservatoire Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, this course allows 16 – 18 year olds the opportunity to develop and hone their acting skills with the richness and rigour of drama school training, whilst achieving the equivalent of three A-Levels. Throughout the course, students benefit from the knowledge and expertise of the shared staff from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre school, as well as being immersed in the industry here in Bristol, with opportunities to perform in professional theatres, attend numerous theatre trips and enjoy talks by professional actors. To ensure the best provision, students receive on average 21-24 hours of teaching time per week and places on the course are limited to 30 students per year.
The new and exciting Dance Theatre Diploma will encourage students to develop as an independent artist and grow into confident, creative dance practitioners. They will develop strong technical and expressive skills, combined with the versatility, creativity and drive to meet the challenges of the competitive dance profession of today.
45
The diploma will be delivered primarily at the Island Dance Studios in the city centre by a team of Bristol-based dance professionals with a wealth of experience in both performance and choreography. Whilst the new Stage and Screen Production Diploma based at The Bottleyard Studios will provide experience and skills across a 29/08/2018 sound design, stage and TV floor management, set design, camera operation and film editing. As a course, also developed and delivered in partnership with the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, successful students can expect to be equipped with the knowledge and experience to move forward with their careers in the technical world of stage and screen.
As part of the Cabot Learning Federation our students have access to the expected range of services that students would experience in a standard school setting. Providing support for students with special educational needs is important to all those delivering our courses, from extra support and tuition to differentiated resources, those teaching do all they can to ensure every student can be successful.
General entry requirements:
For the Media Production Diploma and the Stage and Screen Production Diploma:
Students will need English and Maths grades A* to C. However, students that can demonstrate the attributes required for the courses but don’t have GCSE English or Maths at Grade C (Level 4) or above, will be supported to achieve these qualifications alongside the course. Though experience of creative and media subjects is advantageous, we are more interested in energy and commitment, and welcome your application even if you have had little or no experience.
For the Professional Acting Diploma and the Dance Theatre Diploma:
Students will need to be on track to get at least five GCSEs grades A*- C or a BTEC Level 2 Diploma (at merit or distinction). In exceptional cases we can take students who don’t have GCSE English or Maths at grade C or above and we can provide tuition in those qualifications alongside the course. Though experience of dance, drama or expressive arts subjects are advantageous in giving you a sense of what’s involved, we are more interested in raw talent and welcome your application even if you have had little or no experience.
We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion in the way we recruit and look forward to receiving your application! Students wanting to join the Acting Diploma will be required to audition.

Creative Youth Network is a registered charity in Bristol supporting young people to reach their potential and enjoy fulfilling lives. We build secure, positive relationships, based on the unique needs of each young person. We are youth workers, creative professionals, volunteers and campaigners.
The young people we work with face barriers preventing them from thriving. Many are marginalised, unemployed, not in education, experiencing poor mental health, are in care (or are care leavers), are asylum seekers, refugees, disabled, from low income households or are an ethnic minority.
We work to help young people remove or overcome these barriers:
l Creative Youth Network builds trusting relationships so we can address their individual needs
l We advocate for young people to get their voices heard so they can influence policy
l We provide an exciting range of programmes and activities to help them reach their potential targeted support
We offer one-to-one advice and support to young people no matter what their situation or background.
Our youth workers build positive relationships with young people to help them navigate difficult situations. No problem is too big when we tackle it together, whether it's mental
health, housing, family breakdowns or struggles at school. For professionals referring young people into our services, there is a referral form and other opportunities to refer on our website, www.creativeyouthnetwork.org.uk.
Much of this one-to-one support is delivered by Creative Youth Network through Bristol City Council’s Targeted Youth Services provision.
For young people with low to moderate mental health challenges, we offer support from Wellbeing practitioners, who can also be reached through the website.
Creative programme
The ups and downs in life can be complicated and difficult to express, but at Creative Youth Network, we believe everyone can find their voice through creativity. Our Creative Careers courses are ideal for NEET 16 to 25-year olds, empowering young people to find their own artistic vision and give them the tools and networks to develop their creativity. Courses include photography, game design, art, music and fashion, and other creative opportunities.
The hands-on approach helps young people build confidence and healthy relationships in an environment where sharing emotions is safe. We support them to develop the skills and experience to turn their creative passions into professional success.
Alternative education and careers advice
Sometimes the traditional education system just doesn't work. Creative Youth Network is there to support those young people with our complementary education programme for secondary schools.
By providing an alternative route to arts qualifications, we help those at risk of dropping out to stay engaged, focused and able to fulfil their potential.
51
We also offer one-to-one careers advice and courses for young people aged 16-25 who are not in education, employment or training. Our job coaches help these young people to identify problems, develop skills and find a route into a career they want. This support and the courses can be found through www.creativeyouthnetwork.org.uk.
Youth centres
Our four Creative Youth Network youth centres (The Station, Hillfields, The Stokes, Hanham) are safe and creative spaces for young people to hang out, explore their interests and build positive relationships, filling the gap between school and home.
Our youth centre workers support young people to organise their own events. Cooking, DJing, arts activities, discussions or debates – they’re all planned to encourage and empower each young person to find their voice and reach their potential. There’s a full programme of sessions at our youth centres on the Creative Youth Network website.

The t2 Apprenticeship Academy (based in central Bristol) runs two programmes for 16-18yr olds that are a bridge for young people that want to start a career via an Apprenticeship.
We have two main routes available to young people. The first is a Traineeship; this is for young people who are less than six months away from employment and who usually have an A-C grade in Maths and English. The main aim of a Traineeship is the work placement element. The second route is a Study Programme which is for young people who need upskilling in Maths and English and work preparation.
If we meet a young person and feel there is a more suitable route with another provider or college we will, of course, signpost to more suitable provision.
Our Academy Pre-Apprenticeship programmes bridge the gap for young people into securing employment and careers by building, confidence, essential skills and qualifications that employers seek. They ensure that young people get a chance to get in front of an employer and prove that they have the skills to succeed without having a history of work experience.
The Academy can offer:
l Functional English, Maths and ICT (if required)
l Significant work experience placement, 4-6 weeks.
l Work placements can be secured in most sectors.
l Live apprenticeship vacancies
General entry requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements. However, all young people will sit their BKSB assessment during the induction to determine the levels they are currently working to, we would require young people to be working at entry level 2. These will be used to allocate the young person to the right level of programme.

White Horse Training has more than 20 years experience of providing accredited vocational training and Apprenticeships in Accounting. Our programmes are of outstanding quality and are relevant to the personal learning and employment aims of the learners and the needs of employers.
We offer the following Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualifications and Apprenticeship Standards:
AAT Level 2 Certificate*
The AAT Level 2 Introductory Certificate in Accounting will prepare you for junior and entry level accounting roles by giving you a solid foundation in finance administration.
*AAT Level 2 is only run on demand. If you are interested in doing Level 2 then please contact us to discuss this further.
AAT Level 3 Diploma
The AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting helps you to master more complex financial processes, preparing you for a career in bookkeeping or further accountancy training.
AAT Level 4 Diploma
The AAT Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting provides you with the skills you need to become a financial team leader or set up your own practice.
Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship
Under the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship, apprentices will achieve the knowledge element of the apprenticeship standard by studying the content of the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting Level 3. Although not a requirement of the apprenticeship, apprentices and employers are encouraged to work towards achievement of this qualification in addition to the full apprenticeship standard.
As well as building technical knowledge, the apprenticeship helps apprentices to develop the skills and behaviours essential for their role in the workplace and the sector in which they work. We will support apprentices and the employer to meet all the requirements of the apprenticeship standard.
Apprentices on the Professional Accounting Technician Apprenticeship will achieve their knowledge element of the apprenticeship standard by studying the content of the AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting Level 4. Although not a requirement of the apprenticeship, apprentices and employers are encouraged to work towards achievement of this qualification in addition to the full apprenticeship standard.
This apprenticeship builds on existing technical knowledge and helps apprentices to further develop their wider professional skills and behaviours essential to success in an office environment. We will support apprentices and the employer to meet all the requirements of the apprenticeship standard.
Flexible Start Dates
Courses begin either in September or in February, although we are occasionally able to accommodate start dates at other times.
77
Structure
The AAT qualifications or Knowledge elements of the Apprenticeship Standards are usually taught on a block release study programme of three days a month here at our offices in Bath.
White Horse is not a recruitment agency so normally our students will have already secured a position within an accountancy firm or employer. However, we can sometimes help school leavers to find a trainee position within firms of accountants in the South West and we can occasionally support employers to advertise for an apprentice.
General entry requirements:
Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship
Those starting under this apprenticeship would normally have acquired knowledge equivalent to that gained under the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting Level 2, have A Levels or equivalent, or have appropriate accounting experience.
Level 4 Professional Accounting Technician Apprenticeship
Those starting under this apprenticeship would normally have acquired the knowledge as gained through the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting Level 3.
