Dear Most Reverend Tod D. Brown,

    Your Excellency,

My name is Brian Vu. I attend Segerstrom Fundamental High School, and I go to HolySpirit Catholic Church. My saint name is Martin, Saint of the Broom. My parentsoriginally chose Martin as my saint name, but I have decided to keep this namebecause I respect Martin for his compassion.

I want to be Confirmed because I know that I will fully accept this sacrament ofinitiation to perfect the grace of Baptism through the Holy Spirit. Also, I know thatthrough Confirmation, the Holy Spirit will bestow upon me the grace that will allow meto become a mature Christian and worthy son of God. I can feel that God is watching

over me, Jesus is next to me, and the Holy Spirit is within me when I am doing gooddeeds such as helping out the homeless, being a retreat leader, and serving thechurch.

To live out my Christian faith, I plan to continue to stay involved in the Church. Iwould also want to help out with the Catechism classes, and begin as a teachersassistant, and when I am ready, I would like to be able to teach the communion class,as a way of helping children learn more about their faith and how to live out theirfaith. Lastly, I also plan to attend weekly mass for as long as I am able.

In the Gospel reading according to Saint Mark Chapter 1: verses 9-11, Jesus goes toJohn to be baptized. Coming out of the water, the sky was opened and the Holy Spiritflew down to Jesus. Then, a voice was heard, saying You are my beloved son; withyou I am well pleased. In this passage, Jesus chose to be baptized by John, just likeeveryone else, even though Jesus was the Son of God himself. This act shows Jesushumility.

Throughout this Confirmation program I feel that I have really connected with Godand learned many more things about Him and his Works through the Holy Spirit. Also, going on various retreats such as the Free the Fire reatreat was an eye openingexperience for me. It has taught me that God accepts everyone as his child. Nomatter what we do, Jesus is always willing to forgive our sins as long as we are trulysorry for them.

Although I have much more to learn and experience of Gods Wonders, I know thatbeing confirmed in the Catholic Church of Holy Spirit will help me to listen for whatGod is asking me, and I will always help out those in need, just as Martin did, nomatter what they needed, whether it was medical care, or the very clothes on hisback.

I have the honor to be, Your Excellency,
