Self- Analytical Reflection For me it all started 4 years ago at the end of my fresh-man year. Ms. Tolisano pressured me to join my sopho-more year and I decided to give it a try. It ended up being one of the best decisions I made in my high school career. During this year I have learned that running sections by yourself is harder than I thought it would be. I had to learn time management and better organization skills. If I had the opportunity to redo anything I would manage my time better and I would have made better marketing campaigns and strategies. I tried to make it work with what I had at the time, but I do wish I came up with bet-ter ideas. I would have also wanted to sell a yearbook to everyone. To this staff I feel that I brought a sense of style and a great sense of humor. I think that this class is valuable because it teaches you important skill like team-work, writing, and photography. I can totally use these skills in the future to help me get a job.

Portfolio Design Relfection I chose my fonts, colors, and design because I wanted it all to fit in with my theme which was celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Sword & Shield yearbook. I wanted this book to be a sym-bol of everything we have accomplished over the past 40 years. I feel that a similar interpretation could be used in next year’s book since a 40th anniversary is a stepping stone in the history of our book.

Reflection #1Achivements

Deadlines

Icebreakers

Motivation

1. If a person wins yearbooker of the month or the high five award they should get a free lunch or a $5- $10 dollar gift card. 2. After every deadline that is met on time we should have a potluck to cel-ebrate everyone working hard and finishing on time.3. Whoever gets there pages done first per section wins a cute prize to repre-sent the section. 4. Towards the end of the year we should give out awards to the people who really worked hard and stayed on top of their deadlines the whole entire year.

5. Have a pizza party every time a deadline is made.

6. Stereotype Chat: Place a paper on each person’s back with a characteris-tic on it (Valley Girl, Smart, Happy, Rich). Don’t let them see what you are put-ting on them. Let the participants wander around and talk to each other, treat-ing each other as they might treat someone with that characteristic. Afterward have everyone guess what characteristic they had.7. Mime Introduction: In a small group everyone can introduce something about themselves to the group without using words. 8. I’ve Never Done: Each person starts off with some candy. Going around the circle, each person finishes the sentence “I have never...” A person who has done the thing that the speaker has never done must give the speaker a candy. A fun way to learn things you might otherwise not find out about people.

9. Throughout the year we should have each staff person pick a person in the class to write them a letter telling them how much they really helped them reach their deadline or goal. It’s better to do this than just pick a random person out of a bowl, because we have actual examples and proof of how they helped.10. We should give little awards out to people who stay the most organized and clean since cleanliness and organizational skills were a problem this year.
