Best Sign Systems has been a US based manufacturer of architectural signage products for over 40

years. The organization offers an innovative and flexible portfolio of products and processes to create

completely customized solutions and provides best-in-class, fast and reliable service to sign solution

providers in all 50 states.

Steve Savoy, the current owner and CEO, bought the company 6 years ago. He modernized

operations and fine-tuned marketing and business strategies, doubling production. Even though the

business was thriving, Mr. Savoy wanted to improve Best’s appeal to architects and environmental

graphic designers.

Axia was contracted to revitalise the Best brand with a new corporate identity, marketing collateral,

product catalogs, business papers, advertising, website, packaging and a line of new “designer”

products.

The Axia team assisted Best’s internal marketing coordinator with strategy recommendations and

process protocols to respond more efficiently to targeted audiences.

The design of the new corporate logo

followed several criteria. It had to be simple,

clean and formed primarily as a type

treatment.

The colors needed to be subtle and

understated. Since the company was

commonly known as Best Signs, but did not

have the name rights, “systems” was to be

included but de-emphasized.

Of the twenty concepts that were

considered, a final group was narrowed

down to six and tested in focus group

sessions.

A series of catalogs and brochures were designed to represent specific product lines. One of the

primary objectives of the assignment was to increase designer and architect awareness. Axia

recommended that new product samples be designed, fabricated and professionally shot in a studio
