BOSTON BULLETIN BOSTON BULLETIN Facebook f Website Twitter Instagram Tuesday 22nd December 2020 Tuesday 22nd December 2020 December photo calendar competition December photo calendar competition winner – Lauren Grooby winner – Lauren Grooby Hello and welcome to our latest bulletin. I am PC Mariusz Foks, one of the response officers here at Boston Police station. I was born in Poland and moved to England in 2006, Lincolnshire has been my home since then. I have been a serving Police Officer since November 2019 and I joined from a non-Police background. I spent my first 5 months doing initial training at Lincolnshire Police Headquarters at Nettleham and then arrived at Boston in April 2020. My current role is to attend incidents when people need immediate Police assistance by calling 999 or 101 in less urgent cases. It means being deployed to variety of incidents across Boston and surrounding villages. That includes concerns for safety of individuals, road traffic collisions, domestic incidents and many more. We are currently facing some challenging times due to the pandemic and the national lockdowns. This has had an impact on the communities across our County. Our deployments have increased over the past months due to reports of members of the public not adhering to lockdown rules. However, most of those cases are being managed by my colleagues from the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT). This team consisting of Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers. This has allowed response officers to concentrate on more urgent cases where person’s life is sometimes at risk. One of the opportunities for new officers is to have attachments to specialist teams for a period of time and I was lucky to be a part of the Neighbourhood Policing Team for the past 9 days. I have been heavily involved in community engagement through that time along with tackling dangerous parking outside schools to assure pupils safety, engaging with homeless persons in order to offer help and advice on how to receive place to live. But also identifying individuals, begging to supplement income and have place to live. Due to general public increased complaints of drug related offences, the team also concentrates on gathering intelligence and information on drug related criminal activity in the area. I took park in a drug search warrant execution at one of the properties in Boston area. The team was able to apply warrant based on numerous residences reporting suspicious activity in their residential area. That’s why is so important for members of the public to engage with us and to inform of suspicious activity in around their homes and the Town. It is everyone’s responsibility to keep our home safe and we are working hard along other organisations to assure that.
