Welcome to 2016 Kailani's Corner

Hello!!!! My name is Kailani D’Antuono and I am an 8th grader at Margaret Mace

Elementary School. The winter is a very different time for my family and I who work

very hard the entire summer. I like to write and travel, and now I am sharing these ad-

ventures with you!

In the cold of the winter we hop on a plane and fly away to the warm Carolinas.

Every four day weekend at the un-godly 5:30 in the morning and hop inside a flying

metal tube. We end up at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where our RV “Genie” is sitting

in storage. From before this moment everything is the same… every trip the same flight,

store, and RV storage place after we pickup our beloved mother home there's no going

back.

On the weekend of the 10th-13th; which was parent teacher conference, so a 4 day

weekend, we left only missing one day of school which is not a lot for us. Since it was

only a four day weekend there wasn't much to do. My sister, Kiana is a very….

interesting person who turned 9 on the 20th of November. We spent the whole time

scouting places to visit with my sister and Elderly Grandmother who is traveling for the

first time in 16 years. We even got ticks for the “RedNeck Christmas Show” even though

it was short and sweet trip; is was a lot of glorious down time.

Perhaps you have heard your child mention

they received a Mace Card during their school day or

they were lucky enough to receive a prize for this

Mace Card– woohoo! Congratulations– your child

was caught doing something great!

Teachers and staff are provided with Mace

Cards to distribute to students throughout their day.

Cards are earned for a variety of reasons such as acts

of kindness– perhaps holding a door for someone,

showing responsibility– bringing back important

papers, or perhaps they were caught being a nice

friend to someone new or they helped someone who

needed help– all of these great acts receive a Mace

Card.

Cards are collected during each lunch period

and throughout the month your child has the

opportunity to have their name pulled from the box

of collected cards to choose one of the great prizes.

What happens to the cards at the end of the

month you may ask– don't fret, all cards continue to

remain in the box throughout the year!

So if your child comes home and says they

received a Mace Card– be proud, be VERY PROUD!

They were caught doing something GREAT!

Falcon Flyer Staff– Reporters and Editors

Welcome Back to School!!!! Our first week back to school

was filled with excitement and anticipation, as always! Who was in

our class, are there new students, are there new teachers!? Will

everyone like me, will they be nice, will they help me if I need

help? The list goes on and on….

On Friday, September 9th, the administrative staff and

teachers of Margaret Mace organized an eventful, fun-filled day

packed with activities, games, and exercises to help take all of

those worries away– continuing our great incentive based

behavioral plan for the year– Mace Cards.

“ In today’s activities I learned teamwork and what

makes a good classmate. Teamwork is important

because we help one another”

*******************************************

“Dear Student,

Hello there, welcome to Margaret Mace

School. Here, we have some expectations on behavior

and academics. You are expected to try and get good

grades and to be nice and not bully your fellow peers.”

Throughout the day on Friday, September 9th, activities and

games were arranged according to grade levels. Trust building,

friendship making, and lots of laughs and smiles were shared.

Below you are able to see what our classroom put together

for what a good MMS Classmate should do & say and examples of

what they should not do.

Also, you will read descriptions, picked from our Falcon

Flyers Staff, from our olders students of what makes a great class-

mate, what is expected of them, and how they would like to be

treated for an amazing year at school.

We hope you enjoy reading and we look forward to an

awesome year of team building, new friendships, and a successful

learning experi-

“Dear Student,

We are happy you joined our class. We expect

great behavior from you. It would be fantastic if you

treated your classmates like your family!”

*******************************************

“I learned that working together and communicating

gets things done quicker, easier, faster, and in a more

fun way. In doing this we all got along with each

other. Today was fun.”

“Today I learned how to be a great classmate. We

worked together as a team. We found out that it works

better to work together then fighting.”

********************************************

“From the activities today, I learned we all need team

work to help things work. It is easier with teamwork.”

Activities & Games = FUN

“Today’s activities were about everyone working

together. We all worked hard to make
