Hear Jamie, a Chicago-area children’s book author, read excerpts from her books. Each child will take home one of Jamie’s books! Honor Council status is earned by local councils who commit to literacy outreach projects at the local and international level. Illinois Reads an exciting new initiative by the Illinois Reading Council Illinois Reads wants to promote literacy across the state, from read-alouds for infants to school-age children, from high schoolers to seniors. Every year, Illinois Reads will select and promote 6 books across different age ranges written by Illinois authors on a range of subjects.
