Fleetville Diaries’ Activities

BALLITO As one of the foremost large businesses in Fleetville, Ballito made nylon stockings – silk stockings before WW2. We are launching a project to discover more about this hugely successful firm, capturing recollections from families whose members worked there, as well as research on the formation, processes and final takeover of the company. RIGHT UP OUR STREET: BEAUMONT AVENUE One of a series of street history projects, Beaumont Avenue’s was launched in 2018 and will conclude later in 2019. We welcome interested people who might want to contribute to this one or develop their own Right Up Our Street project further down the line. THE SANDER MEMORIAL This is our first experience in managing the restoration of a forgotten memorial at Hatfield Road Cemetery; the grave of the Orchid King, Frederick Sander. The task will be completed during 2019 and a fitting commemorative event will take place later in the year. IT TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES We are intending to provide one or more short courses to enable more members & friends to become familiar with presentation software. Contact us for further information. WIKIPEDIA ENTRY Currently there is no entry for Fleetville, and we would like to put that right, with an accurate commentary and fully verified sources.
