Book Project -- 1st block Honors English II --
1. Summarize the book in poem form with rhyme (minimum 20 lines). Upto 10 points
2. Discuss in depth the relevance of the title. Up to 7 points3. Use two other sources to research and write a report on an issue from the
book. Up to 15 points4. Write a one minute radio advertisement persuading the public why they
should buy and read this book. Be specific; dont just say This is a great
book or other vague statements. Up to 5 points
5. Pretend you are interviewing a person from the book. Write yourinterview in question and answer format. Make your questions
meaningful and specific. Up to 12 points
6. Discuss the cause and effect relationships you found in the book. Up to 7points
7. Write an editorial based on a controversial issue in the book. Up to 5points
8. Design a time-line for events in the book. Up to 5 points9. As a literary agent, write a letter to the publishing company designed to
persuade them to publish this book. Use specific information. Up to 7

13. Put together a cast for the film version of a book. Imagine the director-
producer wants a casting director to make recommendations. Decide whowould be the actors and actresses. Include photos and descriptions of the
stars and tell why each is perfect for the part. Write a detailed letter to

14. Create a graphic novel based on your book. Choose the main scenes fromyour book to portray in your illustrations. (minimum of 30 frames) Up to

15. Cook a food (cultural) mentioned in your book and bring samples for us totaste. To get credit for this option, the food must be something that most
of us would consider different from food found in our own culture. Up to

16. Design and make your own t-shirt with an illustration and quote about thebook. It would be great if you could actually use a real t-shirt, but if cost
is an issue, you may make a life size t-shirt out of poster-board. Up to

17. Convert the scenes of the story into a ballad or song. Write the lyrics andmusic or adapt words to a melody by someone else. Up to 10 points
18. Make a literary map of the authors works and life. Use references,biographical, and autobiographical materials (articles, books, interviews)
to create an informative and colorful map. Up to 15 points
19. Invent a crossword puzzle for your book. Up to 10 points
20. Compare/contrast the way of life in the book to present day living inJohnston County. Include methods of transportation, fashions, foods,
customs, religious practices, types of government, etc. Up to 10 points
21. Is there a movie based on your book? Compare the book to the movieversion. What aspects of the book have been altered for the visual
performance and why? Up to 13 points
22. Cross curricular Show how the book could be used in a history class orhow a science fiction novel could enliven a science course. Up to 5

23. Design the front page of a newspaper. Write a short news story describingthe major event in our book. Include an attention grabbing headline and
teasers for the rest of the paper. What else might appear on the front page
of a paper with these events? Up to 20 points
24. Write a human interest story on one of the characters in the story. Up to10 points
25. Make a movie trailer for your book (supposing it could be made into amovie). Consider some creative options using programs such as Animoto,
Prezi or Movie Maker. Up to 15 points
26. Design a childrens book retelling some event in the story. This may be
expanded to tell the whole story of the novel as a childrens book, but on achilds level of reading and understanding. Be sure to include
illustrations. Up to 20 points
27. Create an eye-catching poster using a scene from the book. Your goal isto represent the book accurately with details. Up to 10 points
28. Function as an editor. Treat the book as a manuscript and rewrite thepages (or chapter) you consider weak. What needs to be redone to make
the book stronger? Up to 15 points
29. Using various mediums, create a collage that comments on a particulartheme or issue in the book. Up to 10 points
30. Choose a character from the book and as that person, put together a
scrapbook or memory box of special memories and mementoes. Write a
