The book is designed to provide graduate students with information about how to communicate properly to professors and advisers. The book deals with matters of style and politeness in writing. The book also brings a very generous series of forty activities that gives the student opportunity to practice the concepts acquired along the reading. The tasks simulate frequent situations in the academic context. The tasks are mostly based on rewriting problematical examples of the genres approached by the book. The manual is written in friendly language, so it is very easy reading and appropriate for Upper intermediate English learners. The reader is also given some linguistic tips – named language focus - regarding to some pragmatic aspects of English language. The book is designed to helping international students to cope with the cultural background of English and American universities regarding the differences between English/Britain cultures and students countries’ culture.
