WHAT does Bompod do?

Bompod is developing revolutionary Point of Sale systems. We don’t intend to continue where others left off. Instead, we have started again from scratch, but this time keeping in mind the real pain points of the indigenous market. We don’t believe in adopting existing solutions and trying to mould a business process into that of the PoS - the PoS should adapt to the business.

This gives us the ability to introduce, for the very first, a comprehensive ERP grade solution for the micro and small retail. Yes, hawkers, street vendors and small retail locations are going to be at the centre of our focus.

Points of Focus • Robust and Reliable

• Solving real pain points

• Organise the unorganised

• Account the unaccountable

WHY do it ?

7% of India’s GDP constitutes of unorganised retail, while occupying an ever increasing number of people entering it. There is NO solution that currently caters to their needs.

Need of the Hour

With the current demonitization in effect, the micro and small retail sector will take a massive hit. They are primarily cash based and it is not feasible for them to adopt the current market PoS solutions.

The Why

Trouble for illiterates

94%

of India is computer-illiterate, rendering current m a r k e t a l t e r n a t i v e s useless.

Accountability

Small and micro retai l sectors have no concrete system for accountability. Rough estimations can play a heavy role in the business p r o c e s s . L e a d s t o inaccuracy and losses.

Scaling Up

Due to lack of accountability, the retailer has to be physically present at the point of retail. Trust and delicate personal relations play a heavy role in these scenarios. Scaling can be extremely challenging for the micro retailer as he becomes physically constrained to one location.

A month after the Indian prime minister surprisingly withdrew all the Rs500 and Rs1,000 notes—which accounted for as much as 86% of the cash in circulation—his government, on Dec.08, offered a slew of incentives to push millions of Indians towards digital payments.

Asia’s third-largest economy has one of the world’s highest cash-to-GDP ratios—nearly 12% as compared to around 3.9% in Brazil and 3.7% in South Africa. Just last year, 78% of all consumer payments in India were made by cash, while that number stood between 20% and 25% in developed nations.

In fact, the world’s second-most populous country, has one of the lowest PoS terminal penetration, with only 693 machines per million people. Brazil has 32,995 terminals per million people and China and Russia both have around 4,000 terminals per million people. Modi’s government will now deploy two PoS devices each, for some 100,000 villages which have a population of less than 10,000.

We have a historic opportunity to embrace increased cashless payments & integrate latest technology in economic transactions.— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) December 8, 2016

Prohibitive prices + Infeasible form factor

PoS terminals cost anywhere between 70,000 - 1,50,000, making them absolutely useless for the micro sector. They are fragile, expensive, complicated and power intensive. They are useless for most of Indian retail.

All modes of payment accepted here !

Bompod tech will always ensure that all modes of payment should be available to any retailer using a Bompod PoS terminal - Cash, Online Wallets, Debit/Credit cards, Virtual currencies, UPI, Adhaar etc.
