Overall Aims for staff

Enable staff to feel confident about their IT skills

Enable staff to perform their own troubleshooting and problem solving

Enable staff to access , use and create more interactive resources for students

Work towards making IT skills an intrinsic part of planning and effective practice in the classroomCreate a curriculum for students which is

dynamic, interesting and facilitates independent learning, 24 hours a day, using IT.

Ensuring staff saw advantages of a blended learning system

Staff felt unable to admit to a lack of knowledge and masked their skills shortage

A feeling that the students had more skills and this may undermine a lessons’ structure

Application and use of CollegeNET Issues with a limited internet connection

Term 1 solutions

Digital Technology courses set up to model how lessons could be structured (to save time)

Staff who were willing to adopt new technology, adapted to the idea of team teaching (Google sketchup, hot potatoes)

Encouraged to experiment with students leading a lesson (students enjoyed the autonomy and role reversal)

Staff asked at the beginning of the year what training they required leading to 1 on 1 development sessions which would feed through to other staff

Creation of the IT training and resources section on CollegeNET which is regularly updated with videos, links and responds to queries

Scheduled whole staff pd sessions Departmental timetabled IT training Training delivered in bitsize chunks from a 10 minute discussion

through to more structured 1 hour slots Training available for staff to suit their needs and working hours

from 7am – 5pm, has not be restricted to 8 hours per week Conversion of software for staff to use (Boardworks, video, audio,

text)

sessions in order to increase their knowledge, skills and form courses on CollegeNET

Continuation of basic IT training such as skills in MS Office and the translation of skills into resources for students

Further trials of student led IT development game creation in Kodu Y10 digital technology.

Dedicated IT support for 10CP with identification of potential student trainers
