THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS,

THE INSTITUTE OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT,

Dear Sir,

We have audited the attached Balance Sheet of the Institute as at 31st March 2016 and also the

Income and Expenditure account for the year ended as on that date annexed thereto. These financial

statements are the responsibility of the institute’s management. Our responsibility is to express an

opinion on these financial statements based on our audit.

We conducted our audit in accordance with auditing standards generally accepted

in India. Those standards require that we plan and perform the audit to obtain reasonable assurance

about whether the financial statements are free of material misstatement. An audit includes examin-

ing, on a test basis, evidence supporting the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements.

An audit also includes assessing the accounting principles used and significant estimates made by

management, as well as evaluating the overall financial statement presentation. We believe that our

audit provides a reasonable basis for our opinion.

i) We have obtained all the information and explanations, which to the best of our knowl-

edge and belief were necessary for the purposes of our audit.

ii) In our opinion, proper books of accounts as required by law have been kept by the institute

so far as appears from our examination of those books.

iii) The Balance sheet and Income and Expenditure account dealt with by this report are in agree-

ment with the books of account.

iv) In our opinion and to the best of our information and according to the explanations given to us,

the Balance Sheet gives a true and fair view of the affairs of the institute and the Income and

Expenditure account gives a true and fair view of the excess of income over expenditure for

the year ended 31st March 2016 subjct to.

1) Depreciation fund is under provided by an amount of Rs. 1,84,24,988/-. This has the effect of

overstating capital fund profit by a like amount.

3) We also suggest that for Pension and Gratuity plans, liability should be got quantified by

Actuarial valuer to as certain whether adequate funds are being transferred from income

to the respective fund to meet the liability of the institute as on any particular date. To

that extent we are unable to comment whether pension and gratuity liability is adequately

provide or not.

4) As the filling of Income Tax return is made mandatory from this year, we advise the

institute to immediately obtain instructions from Head Office, whether the institute like

all other institutes of similar setup are liable to income tax or not. The matter is of

utmost importance.
