About the Club The Club meets on the third Tuesday of the month at the Girl Guides Hall, at the end of Bunbinla Avenue Mount Riverview, commencing 7:00 PM, to 10:00 PM. The Club also holds an all day Workshop on the Saturday immediately following the Tuesday night Meet-ing (not necessarily the third Saturday in the month), commencing 0900 am to 3.30pm Visitors are invited to participate in up to three club meetings and/or activities. After three visits if they are satisfied with the club's format and activities, they are expected to be-come full members of the club by paying the membership fees. The meetings will start with a welcome to members and visitors. On Tuesday nights machines can only be used between 7.00PM and 9.30 PM. After 9.30 PM machines are unplugged and we all clean up and all equipment is put away. Then 'Show and Tell', 'Questions and Answers', and our library is open. Supper is provided, and the Meeting is closed at 10.00pm. On Saturdays machines can be used all day up to 2.45PM, then we all clean up, our equipment is put away. “Show and Tell” and “Questions and Answers” will be immediately after lunch before we restart. Morning and afternoon tea is provided, however BYO lunch and any other drinks etc. Hall Cleanliness The Girl Guides have expresses some concerns as to the cleanliness of the hall after we use it. The Girl Guides have given us a list of what ‘to do’. This list is a card, (laminated) and is in the ‘purple’ cupboard. While every endeavour is taken to ensure we don't miss any item, we need to do a double check before we leave each day we use the hall. The new Kitchen has been installed at the Hall, and it is an open one. We are considering using a curtain and or a cover to limit wood dust from entering the kitchen area.

Club Happenings The visit to ‘ Allwood Timbers ’ , 8 Geary Place, Nowra on June 26th. Is on. We have acquired the large bus, and we will need to fill it! A first in, basis will operate, and subject to availability, bring your wives, girlfriends, or both if you are game, but they will need to pay $15.00 for the privilege. They have offered a 15% discount to members, and they will throw on a sausage sizzle as well.

The bus will leave Ian Griffiths place, ( 5 Alkoomie Ave, South Penrith ) at 0800 SHARP. If you are late,

we will be gone!! See more information in this Newsletter. Thanks to Frank for manufacturing the meter box security bar. The original lock was located and is now fitted

Things to Remember Allwood Timbers See information above on this trip. Looks a good one! Club Challenge. As indicated in the Presidents report, those who are participating will have a choice of timbers, but the item to be made will be a box, be it a Jewellery box or something different, ALL the timber must be used. As we need to order the timber you have selected, the challenge participants need to register by Saturday April workshop. Membership fees Membership fees are due in February. The annual subscription will remain at $20.00 per member for the ensu-ing year, with new members a $10.00 joining fee applies as well as the yearly subscription. Some members need to renew ASAP. Invitation. An invitation has been received from Blue Mountains Woodturners to participate in the ‘ Explores Day’ which celebrates Crossing the Blue Mountains 200 years ago. This event is on October 17th 2013, and will be at the ‘Glenbrook Village Green’. The executive have accepted the invitation, and more information will follow in the next few months. However, we are open to suggestions as to how to commemorate this nostalgic event, so ideas please!

BBQ, It was resolved that as the last BBQ held at Bunnings Valley Heights only showed a profit of $9.00 to not do any more at that establishment. However, the former Highway Hardware are willing to let us have a BBQ there where they supply the goods as a donation, all we need to do is supply the manpower. They do it for 3 of the local Rural Fire Brigades, and they are happy fo up to do it on a basis of if the RFB cannot, they will offer it to us. They do have Ray ’ s phone num-ber for contact.

Members enjoying the recent visit to the Radio Museum at Kurrajong. It was nostalgic the hear the old Radio Serials being played and to see working equipment from yesteryear, and those of military significance, and those early Amateur Radio day ’ s. Might be worth a revisit.

The radio on the left was from a Ko-rean Ship , the ‘ Pong Su. The ship was seized by The Royal Australian Navy and Federal Police as a suspect in a drug running syndicate and , after a lengthy court case, it was eventu-ally scuttled east of Jervis Bay, by an F111 of the Royal Australian Airforce, on March 23rd 2006 . The radio was donated to the Museum but with very little notice given to re-trieve it from the ship.
