01.06.20 Hello everyone – can you believe it is June??? We have made it to your very last month of primary 5 and soon you will be moving on to primary 6 (hopefully under better circumstances!) I hope you all had an amazing weekend in the sun spending time with your family. I know that today is one of the last days for nice (according to my weather app anyway) so I have tried to give you some fun outdoor activities! Today’s activities: PE (every morning), Literacy, Numeracy, and ICT. How are you getting on with your personal targets? It has been nice to hear about some of them in our weekly check-ins. Think of something you would like to work on this week and try your best to reach it! HWB – PE Every morning at 9.00am, we will all be tuning in to a live PE lesson with Joe Wicks – The Body Coach. This will be streamed live on YouTube and I will post a link to it underneath. Literacy – Spelling    

Red and Blue group: LI: to use and recognise the phoneme ‘ou’ Back to spelling work this week and the last phoneme we were working on was ‘ow’. We looked at the first representation which was ‘ow’ itself and this week we are moving on to ‘ou’..

1) Your next column inn your ‘ow’ phoneme table should contain words with the phoneme representation ‘ou’ such as ‘ground’.

1) How many ‘ll’ words can you think of? Make a list of these at the back of your DAILY WRITING JOTTER (make sure it is definitely the correct sound). 

2) Once you have got at least 6 ‘ll’ words, use a dictionary to check for spelling mistakes.

Numeracy LI: to find tessellation patterns in the environment.Have you ever heard the word ‘tessellation’? If not, what about ‘tiling’? I can guarantee that even if you haven’t heard of it before you are going to know what I am talking about! Tessellation is when shapes can fit together without any gaps to make a pattern. In this first picture, there is a tessellation pattern using hexagons.In the second one, there are squares that all join together to make a tessellation pattern.Your job today, as it is so nice, is to go on a walk (with someone at home) and try to find some examples of tessellation in the environment. This could be on signs, on the ground, anywhere at all. Take a picture and see if you can name the shapes that are in it. You may even have some examples in your house that you can find!I would love to see some of the pictures that you take.

LI: to build my own activity using coding. Do you remember creating an algorithm in class? Miss Steedman and I explained that this is the way computers need instructions and today I hope that we can extend your knowledge of this using coding. This activity is going to take some time, but it is very fun and something a bit different to what we have been doing recently.
