DEFINITION

Blister is a small pocket of fluid within the upper layers of the skinBlister are filled with :+ Clear fluid (serum or plasma)+ Blood+ Pus (infected)

Friction or rubbing Fluid collects between the epidermis

the upper layer of the skin and the layers below

Frostbite Sunburn

( contact with a cosmetic, detergent, solvent, chemical )

allergic reaction to an insect bite or sting

chemical warfare agents (mustard gas) vesicants, painful blisters

TREATMENTStep 1: washing the blister (and your hands) with

warm, soapy water disinfect the blister with rubbing alcohol or

iodine

TREATMENT

Step 2:Sterilize a sharp needle by cleaning it with a cotton ball dipped in rubbing alcohol.

TREATMENTStep 3:Insert the needle into the side of the blister.

TREATMENT Step 4: Drain the blister completely by pressing it

with your finger. Use a cotton ball to wipe away the fluid

TREATMENTStep 5:Apply antibiotic ointment Use a cotton swab to apply polymyxin B or bacitracin antibiotic ointment to the area

Step 6: Bandage the area7]

Change the bandage once a day, or every time it gets wet or dirty.

PREVENTION Blisters on the feet can be prevented

by wearing comfortable, well-fitting shoes and clean socks.

Inherently ill-fitting or stiffer shoes (high heels, dress shoes)

PREVENTION

Sunscreen and sun protection avoid blisters from sunburn

PREVENTION

Wear protective gloves when handling detergents, cleaning products, solvents and other chemicals
