FORTHCOMING EVENTS

Year 11 had their Exam Mass and lunch today. A beautiful piano entrance was played by Annie Yao setting the ambiance of this special Mass. Father Kevin started by reminding the students of the journey they had been on from Year 7 and how they could look forward to a new beginning in the Sixth Form. The first hymn was ‘I watch the sunrise’ and he praised them for their beautiful singing, the best he had ever heard it sung in his time at Bishop Douglass. Praise indeed! During the homily he talked to them about doubting Thomas and how they must never doubt in themselves or in the love of God through Jesus Christ. Mrs Henderson said the reading and it was from 1 Corinthians verse 13 and reminded them that ‘In short there are three things that last: faith, hope and love; and the greatest of these is love’. At the end of the Mass they had the opportunity to sit in their form classes and enjoy a lunch of pizza and ice-cream. After the incredible amount of hard work they have put in so far this half-term, they finished early and went home to re-charge themselves for the busy exam period starting next week. We wish them all success.

A reminder to Year 11 parents that we do not have study leave. We believe in giving the students as many sessions as possible to prepare them and ensure they stay focused. Revision sessions before morning exams will start at 8am, with breakfast provided and for afternoon exams, they will have a session period 3 and early lunch in preparation for the afternoon start.

Monday: Latent (Adjective): Existing but not yet developed; lying dormant or hidden, concealed or inactive. I have just discovered my latent talent for street dancing.

Tuesday: Meander (Verb): If you meander somewhere, you move slowly and not in a straight line.

(Noun): A winding curve or bend of a river or road . The river flows in sweeping meanders.

The 1970’s wallpaper was psychedelic and lurid, it really had

to go!

SOLUTION TO LAST WEEK’S CHALLENGE

THIS WEEK’S MATHS CHALLENGE

SPIRITUALITY MATTERS Have you seen the Lord? We strive to recognise the Lord present and alive in those who believe. During this season of Easter, we come alive with him so that we can bring his light, life and joy to a broken world threatened on so many fronts. In a world wracked with pain and suffering on so many levels and in so many places we strive to bring hope to those around us. With the Lord on our side, we need not fear. This week, let us remember this prominent message and be the witness God has called us to be.

RIDDLE OF THE WEEK

Answer to last weeks riddle: Footsteps. This week’s riddle: A man is trapped in a room. The room has only two possible exits: two doors. Through the first door there is a room constructed from magnifying glass. The blazing hot sun instantly fries anything or anyone that enters. Through the second door there is a fire-breathing dragon. How does the man escape?
