Clinical Chemistry is pleased to announce an upcoming theme issue, Biomarkers of Cardiovascular Disease: Utility in Diagnosis, Risk Assessment and Therapy, edited by Drs. Fred Apple, Lori Daniels, Børge Nordestgaard, and Nicholas Mills. Clinical Chemistry, published by Oxford University Press in partnership with AACC, is the most highly cited forum for peer-reviewed, original research in the fields of clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine. The purpose of this issue is to highlight recent advances in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease and the use of current and novel biomarkers—including proteomic, genomic, and epidemiologic approaches—in the diagnosis, risk assessment, treatment, and cost- effective management of patients. The issue will cover the science addressing the advances and controversies that surround current and novel approaches to personalized/ precision medicine. Biomarkers of Cardiovascular Disease POTENTIAL TOPICS OF INTEREST INCLUDE Clinical and analytical aspects of high sensitivity cardiac troponin I and T assays for the diagnostic assessment and risk management of acute and chronic cardiovascular disease Clinical and analytical aspects of natriuretic peptides and their role in the diagnostic assessment and risk management of cardiovascular disease, including heart failure Diagnosis and treatment of familial hypercholesterolemia, hyperlipidemia, atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease Role of novel biomarkers, including proteomic, metabolomic, and microRNA-based strategies Role of multi-biomarker strategies Role of personalized/precision genomics Role of biomarkers in: > rapid evaluation strategies for patients presenting with suspected acute coronary syndromes and other myocardial injury-related pathologies > prediction of cardiovascular risk in the community > machine learned algorithms for risk stratification and diagnosis > clinical trials > development of economic models for cost-effective resource utilization and management of patients, with an emphasis on acute coronary syndrome and heart failure patients > appropriate use of ICD-10 coding in cardiovascular disease patients SPECIAL ISSUE SUBMIT NOW AT submit.clinchem.org SUBMISSION DEADLINE JUNE 1, 2020 Clinical Chemistry invites authors to submit original articles related to cardiovascular disease to be considered for publication in this special issue. Clinical Chemistry, published by Oxford University Press in partnership with AACC, is the most highly cited forum for peer-reviewed, original research in the fi elds of clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine.

The purpose of this issue is to highlight recent advances in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease and the use of current and novel biomarkers—including proteomic, genomic, and epidemiologic approaches—in the diagnosis, risk assessment, treatment, and cost-effective management of patients. The issue will cover the science addressing the advances and controversies that surround current and novel approaches to personalized/precision medicine.

Biomarkers of Cardiovascular DiseasePOTENTIAL TOPICS OF INTEREST INCLUDE Clinical and analytical aspects of high sensitivity cardiac troponin I

and T assays for the diagnostic assessment and risk management of acute and chronic cardiovascular disease

Clinical and analytical aspects of natriuretic peptides and their role in the diagnostic assessment and risk management of cardiovascular disease, including heart failure

Diagnosis and treatment of familial hypercholesterolemia, hyperlipidemia, atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease

Role of novel biomarkers, including proteomic, metabolomic, and microRNA-based strategies

Role of multi-biomarker strategies

Role of personalized/precision genomics

Role of biomarkers in:> rapid evaluation strategies for patients presenting with

suspected acute coronary syndromes and other myocardial injury-related pathologies

> prediction of cardiovascular risk in the community> machine learned algorithms for risk stratifi cation and diagnosis> clinical trials> development of economic models for cost-effective resource

utilization and management of patients, with an emphasis on acute coronary syndrome and heart failure patients

> appropriate use of ICD-10 coding in cardiovascular disease patients
