Among other activities and responsibilities, Edwin was the sole boarding agent and principal office manager, in charge of, for all documentation, practical and technical requirements of vessels and their cargo during calls at the ports of Mucuripe and Pecém. While handling part of our leading sales force to provide quotations for the services we render, Edwin has played a key role in mainly being able to work out and, always, bid for the pursued market targets that made our company gain various new contracts not only in long term Wind Mill Projects but also negotiate e re-negotiated new and existing international and local contracts of our core business. As part of his own career project and in despite of the success achieved in all and every department he has led or teamed up with in the company, he still made himself available to cooperate in recruiting and training new team members until his pre-announced deadline to leave us at the end of his term, in December 2012. Notwithstanding all the aforesaid, Edwin has re-invented himself, in every new challenge, every time he was demanded for in new business opportunities which, no matter unprecedented they were, he carried out, again, with extreme confidence and care as, for example: to work-out and alternative trading flow of soy-cake from southern Brazilian producers to export to the Ukraine, propose new means to enable exporting bauxite out of the Demerara river in Guyana, to draw up a preliminary business plan for a mining venture in the interior of the state of Ceará. In addition to his main chores in our firm, he was involved in a number of ongoing business deals at the ports of Pecém and Fortaleza, including: the import of clinker, slag and cement by Apodi (M. Dias Branco Group); the export of iron ore to China (Globest); the import of coal from Puerto Bolíver to two new power plants in Pecém (MPX); the import of wind turbines (Vestas, Siemens, Suzlon, etc.) to wind farms in Ceará. He also assisted us, from time to time, with our weekly container-cargo operations in Mucuripe (CMA CGM). Edwin is a resourceful and hard-working individual. He was able to learn the trade in a very short period of time and create an impressive network of contacts. He is at ease in English and Portuguese, both written and spoken. I am glad to recommend Edwin Johann Santana Gaarder to anyone requiring the services of an unique professional he certainly is. Yours Faithfully FJT de Santana
