RING A DING DING features a large mobile at the center of the set, which rotates above the audience. Using the entire unit of activities in this SCHOOL TOOL Resource Guide, allow each of your students to create a mobile inspired by their experience at the show.

1. Provide three pieces of construction paper cut in various shapes to each student in your class.

2. Either on their own or with help, have the students write one word on each of the pieces describing their favorite parts of the show or how they felt about it (e.g. “Journey,” “Excited,” and “Dance”).

3. Collect pieces from the School Tool to include as design elements for the mobile including:

a. The three elements from WHERE HAS MY PET GONE? (Inside) b. MINI-ME puppet (Before) c. Vehicles from HOW WILL I GET THERE? (En Route) d. Show imagery from ALICE’S JOURNEY (After) e. The three word shapes from this activity4. Display them around your classroom, or somewhere more public in your

school to showcase your students’ work and experience at the theater! What do you see on the mobile?Which drawings catch your eye? What do you remember about the play RING A DING DING when you look at this mobile? What was your favorite part of the play?

Are you seeing multiple performances with your students this year? Whether you are taking your students to more shows at The New Victory, or coordinating field trips to other performances, create a Performance Scrapbook Wall in your classroom to record their experiences and keep it as a living scrapbook that you can add to over the course of the year. Include activities created from the New Victory School tool Resource Guides, pictures from your trip, and other work you may do inspired by the show. You may consider using the Performance Reflection Template (found in the AFTER section of this School Tool). This way, students can continue to make connections between the performance and their class work over the year, as well as make connections between the different performances they see this year!

Do you remember the little girl’s journey to find her dog? Who did she talk to? Where did she go?

If Alice’s dog went on another adventure, where do you think he would go?

Have a conversation about his/her trip to the theater. Talking about live performance is an important part of your kid’s learning and it deepens and extends the original experience. By asking questions you can help foster observation and recall skills. You might ask:

•WhatwasitliketotakeatriptoTimesSquare?Whatdidyousee? •WheredidAlicegoonherjourney?Howdidshefindherdog? •WhatwasyourfavoriteplacethatAlicevisitedalongtheway? •Whatwasitliketogetupanddanceonthemoonduringtheshow?
