French choreographer, writer and director, Jan Fabre returns toRome with his latest work Prometheus Landscape II, exploring

the ancient myth of the fearless titan who defies the godsthrough the medium of his cutting-edge contemporary dance.Since the 1980’s Fabre has been one of the leading figures in theinternational dance world, infusing a new energy and a multi-disciplinary approach that has kept the critics on the edge oftheir seats. At the heart of his innovations however, Fabrereturns to the timeless questions regarding our human natureand our destiny here on earth. Through the story of Prometheus, who helps Zeus to destroy the other Titans but then rebelsagainst him and reveals to man the secret of making fire, Fabreprovokes his audience to ask who are the mythical heroes of ourmodern day? While the ability to make fire enables man to buildhis own civilisation, does it not also enable him to make warsthat can destroy it? And does Prometheus’ disdain of death andsuffering also reflect our own attitudes that are the cause of somuch violence and conflict? See Fabre’s company Troubleyn atthe Teatro Olimpico in Piazza G. da Fabriano on Saturday 5th andSunday 6th, tickets euro 11 to euro 33, details on 06-3265991.
